As someone who has been to several treatments, The Abbey is the only place that, after going, I’ve been able to maintain my sobriety. The staff is brilliant and very kind. These people are amazing in helping us. You'll have your reviews that claim otherwise but those are people who don't want to follow rules or are not serious about recovery and leading a normal life. Im in a much better place because of them. Rules change but they post them and tell you. The counselors and nurses have their own set of rules to follow and shooting the messenger isn't very kind. I've had 3 counselors but one received a promotion, one moved away, and my current Pam is amazing. I get sound and useful advice from them all. They help me fix issues. They are not just talk. If you want your life back and truly want help id go here. I drive an hour and 45 minutes just to get help from them specifically. I regret none of the gas mileage...

Edited Review: I had to come back and update my review after a year and a half. In my last review, I gave them one star because no one ever answered the phone. It didn’t seem like they had a receptionist or enough staff to handle calls if one person was busy. Now, every time I call, someone answers right away and I don’t have to leave a voicemail anymore, which is great! They’ve improved so much compared to a couple of years ago. Their communication has also gotten much better — they now call you back promptly or send updates through the MyChart app regarding prescriptions or when they’ve sent them to your pharmacy. On top of that, the staff I’ve spoken with have all been very friendly and helpful. I really appreciate you guys listening to feedback and making positive changes.

I have never had a problem at the Robert Young center. They are not perfect, but no one is perfect. However I really do not like talking to a television screen instead of face to face with a person. This is very impersonal like talking to a robot.

We were truly surprised and deeply touched by how caring and welcoming everyone was. There was no discrimination at all, and they did not require insurance documents, which was our biggest concern. They were very willing to help us and even assisted us with the process of applying for insurance for the expectant mother. The entire team was professional, kind, and compassionate. The hospital was extremely clean, like a large hotel. When we first arrived, we felt very nervous because of the language barrier, but they kindly provided interpretation services online for us. Within just a few hours, they completed all the tests, including blood work, urine tests, and ultrasound. We are very grateful and will always remember this experience. America is truly compassionate—especially here in Dubuque, Iowa, where the doctors and medical staff are not only skilled but also ethical and kind-hearted. We also noticed Christian statues and images in the hospital, which made us feel even more comforted and trusting. We sincerely hope they will continue to support us in obtaining insurance so that she can receive proper prenatal care and give birth safely in the future. The receptionist (Kathy I believe) is such a sweet lady!! I enjoyed talking with her while I was checking in and she was extremely helpful. My counselor was Sheila and she was also very enjoyable to speak to and extremely empathetic. She gets straight to the point but is also a great conversationalist in between. Both Sheila and Kathy were helpful in ensuring I could create a schedule that worked for me. I called Thursday and had an appointment by Friday morning. I was very nervous at first, but felt welcome and comfortable by the end. I highly recommend choosing ASAC.

They do a lot to help the community. They're now called Area Substance Abuse Council (ASAC) but everybody knows them as New Directions and they keep themselves as New Directions in they phone book. Not to be confused with Clinton Substance Abuse Council.

Jackie the PT is the best! I recently had a knee replacement and under her tutelage I have advanced and improved my flexion and extension. I mention this because ten years ago I had my other knee done and did not receive adequate PT. Jackie has me doing things I never learned previously. Besides the therapy she is a really upbeat person that is able to connect with people. As I noted in a previous review, everyone at the VA in Dubuque are really exemplary and helpful. I have used three VA centers over a forty year period and this is the best service I ever received. My primary care provider Lana a PA and her nurse Deb are the very best! All the other people I have had contact including Rachel the pharmacist and all the front desk people are really great. They return calls and are always polite and efficient. The lady who takes blood work--a combat vet herself--always goes above and beyond. Sorry I forgot her name but no less a critical member of a highly efficient team. Give all my highest recommendation.
