All of the staff at Burgess Health Center were outstanding with their patient care. They took great care of me from the moment I walked in the door. They addressed my concerns and gave a very thorough examination. They treated me with the kind of care that one would feel from a high end spa. Staff also treated one another with kindness and respect. You could tell that every person wanted to help the other be great at what they do. Thank you!

My first time at Burgess via 🚑 for chest pain. The staff was amazing. They got slammed about the same time but someone was always checking in on me and making sure I was up to speed on a plan. I was an anxious mess but they never judged me and kept my husband in the loop with everything. I ended up being transported out to Council Bluffs but they did everything in their power to make sure I was comfortable and felt as safe as possible. Hands down the best care I've ever received from an ED staff. Thank you ❤️

I was at uta Halee in 2021, I got the march 21st and left may 2nd. My experience there was amazing I was in the shelter waiting for a bed at nova treatment community, Mrs Robinson was always there for me when I needed to talk to someone. Mrs collins was always fun to be around, Mrs Philips had a great sense of humor, Mr Harris was absolutely amazing he greeted me with kindness he always made sure I had a smile on my face, when I first got there I slept for 3 days straight and he would peak his head in my room making sure I was okay! Of course I was really shy at first but I made it through my stay. Mrs Jackson and me never got close and Mrs Hawthorne and me always had great conversations she even got to see my comedy personality. Every Wednesday was my favorite day because I got to enjoy the culinary class they had! Sometimes on the weekends they would allow us to use the tv to watch our favorite networks no matter what the movie was it just had to be appropriate. Right was my probation officer dropped me off a fight happened upstairs a girl punched another girl 82 times in just two minutes because they were left with one other staff member, I always had fun there. When you shaved you were supervised to save people from self harm! I did watch a few people runaway and watched someone beat up a deputy. But that told everyone that they needed to be somewhere more intense to straighten themselves up! Overall my stay there was amazing!!!

My husband and I were there on September 1st to deliver our daughter. The second we arrived, the labor & delivery team were very respectful and professional. My husband & I never once experienced a “bad moment” while we stayed at Immanuel and never experienced any unprofessional Staff members. Everyone was super sweet and gentle with me and especially with my daughter even when they were tasked to do the hard things (ie: blood sugar test, heel pricks and temperature checks under the arm) All the ladies on the team were so sweet and were very happy to help in any way they could. Amazing Staff Mentions: Dr. Candace Giles, delivered my daughter safely and swiftly. Anesthesiologist-Chantal Afuh, explained every possible type of anesthesia for a c-section clearly and understandable. She calmed my nerves and hesitation with ease. Nurse: Madison-She was my favorite. She has such an amazing vibe and radiates positivity. Tech: Madison-extremely friendly and helpful when we had trouble with our car seat right before discharge. Nurse: Kayla-super sweet; Kayla was extremely helpful with the miracle prune juice 😉

I moved to the Midwest the beginning of November, 2024. I was grateful and lucky enough to find a psychiatrist to continue my medication check ups for my anxiety and ADHD at this location. Recently with many big world changes I’ve found myself especially sensitive to yelling, and aggressive behavior, especially given some of my traumas growing up where verbal, mental and emotional abuse was endured until I moved out as a 17 year old. This past Friday, 2/21/2025, I had an appt with Lori (I absolutely adore her, and she listens and asks questions to always ensure I’m taken care of and okay!) I am on meds that can be skipped on days I don’t work or I feel I don’t need them quite as much, so I hadn’t taken them prior to my appt. When I went to check in, there was another patient having a very heated conversation with one of the front desk receptionists to my right. I was feeling overstimulated and struggled to hear the woman helping me check in (she was so kind, patient and helpful.) In order to try and hear the woman helping me I had to speak up and could barely understand her due to the patient next to me near yelling. While scared and worried for the other front desk worker helping this patient, and feeling uneasy due to her growing volume, I tried to hurry my check in process. The patient then turned to me and rudely told me to be quiet because she couldn’t understand the receptionist helping her, which triggered a minor panic attack. I told my receptionist I was overwhelmed and needed to go step out, and burst into tears. I walked outside and after 30 seconds went back in. My receptionist had left her seat and came out to find me and make sure I was okay. She let me know she had checked me in, asked if I was okay, and I hesitantly walked a couple steps toward the patient who was now even more upset and had 2 receptionists behind the desk helping her. My receptionist then took measures to ensure I was okay, in a quiet space where I wouldn’t be overstimulated, and asked if I needed water, coffee, anything - then while waiting in a quieter area, a woman from the nurse station checked on me as I was reading a book and I was still physically shaking and had some tears left since I was still calming down. The fact that the entire staff took my situation seriously meant more than they will ever know. The humanity, compassion and gentle & quick response to my situation made me feel seen, cared for and like I was seen and accepted as the human I am. Being in my 30’s with ADHD only having been diagnosed 2 years ago, it can be challenging understanding the “why’s” of my physical, mental and emotional responses and navigating them in the real world, namely when I have a “I want to keep everyone safe” complex. This facility and their entire team (down to even Natalia at Genoa Pharmacy, which is inside the same building) has impressed me from day 1. Thank you all so much for what you do, for your humanity, compassion and kindness. This world needs more of what you all offer and provide, and it was such a deeply impactful feeling to know that I am truly the safest when there and in the care of the entire team there. I’d give them 10 stars if I could. Truly, the way they handled this when it’s something I’m use to navigating on my own and calming down from just because my brain gets overstimulated easily, means so much. There genuinely aren’t enough words to express how much it meant to me. In short, thank you.

I was going to this place for... most of my life technically. Anxiety related. I'm currently 30 and my first appointment was with Judy Connor when I was in elementary (yes, that long ago). I missed an appointment when I was in the hospital. Probably missed a few over the years. Guess I'm not allowed to be a patient there anymore. It is what it is. That's on me. No hard feelings. So why did I take a star off? After Albert left I was set up with this Dr. Chau guy and as others in the reviews have stated, he tried to change my medication after the first appointment and is personally... what I would describe as an unpleasant individual to be around. It's only my mental health, might as well switch it up, even though I was doing well and only really needed refills... Yeah, so after sucking every ounce of positivity from the room with charisma uncomfortably absent and awkward eye contact he told me he doesn't prescribe my anxiety medication. He's one of those doctors that doesn't prescribe benzos or something. I can only conclude it's his personal bias about a group of medication (that actually work) being more important than the mental and overall well-being of others... Despite the last couple months I was going here being a negative experience, this place was pretty great overall. Still have untreated anxiety and can't really function. Oh well, guess this is just my life now. Oh, yeah... The pharmacy and front desk are amazing. Seriously. They're super friendly and always remembered my name and they would call to reminded me to refill. Pretty cool that the pharmacy is in the same building now. I wouldn't mind being a patient here again if they had a Doctor like Albert. If you're hesitant. I'd say go for it. Just don't miss any appointments.

My husband went through the independence center over 30 years ago. He did relapse after the first 3 months but he did not attend any aftercare or AA. Within a year he started going to AA and has been sober for almost 35 years. My son has also been through the independence center twice with varied success. He has had relapses but maintained sobriety for the majority of the time. He has used the tools he learned there to get sober again after relapsing without having to reenter treatment. When you are ready, you are ready. I did three rehabs in the span of three summers and I’ve been sober a year and a half since going to the Independence Center. The ENTIRE staff wass genuinely interested in my recovery. Of course it’s up to me how honest I want to be with my counselor, Chaplin and myself (and God), but their unwavering encouragement doesn’t hurt and it didn’t.
