I moved to the Midwest the beginning of November, 2024. I was grateful and lucky enough to find a psychiatrist to continue my medication check ups for my anxiety and ADHD at this location. Recently with many big world changes I’ve found myself especially sensitive to yelling, and aggressive behavior, especially given some of my traumas growing up where verbal, mental and emotional abuse was endured until I moved out as a 17 year old. This past Friday, 2/21/2025, I had an appt with Lori (I absolutely adore her, and she listens and asks questions to always ensure I’m taken care of and okay!) I am on meds that can be skipped on days I don’t work or I feel I don’t need them quite as much, so I hadn’t taken them prior to my appt. When I went to check in, there was another patient having a very heated conversation with one of the front desk receptionists to my right. I was feeling overstimulated and struggled to hear the woman helping me check in (she was so kind, patient and helpful.) In order to try and hear the woman helping me I had to speak up and could barely understand her due to the patient next to me near yelling. While scared and worried for the other front desk worker helping this patient, and feeling uneasy due to her growing volume, I tried to hurry my check in process. The patient then turned to me and rudely told me to be quiet because she couldn’t understand the receptionist helping her, which triggered a minor panic attack. I told my receptionist I was overwhelmed and needed to go step out, and burst into tears. I walked outside and after 30 seconds went back in. My receptionist had left her seat and came out to find me and make sure I was okay. She let me know she had checked me in, asked if I was okay, and I hesitantly walked a couple steps toward the patient who was now even more upset and had 2 receptionists behind the desk helping her. My receptionist then took measures to ensure I was okay, in a quiet space where I wouldn’t be overstimulated, and asked if I needed water, coffee, anything - then while waiting in a quieter area, a woman from the nurse station checked on me as I was reading a book and I was still physically shaking and had some tears left since I was still calming down. The fact that the entire staff took my situation seriously meant more than they will ever know. The humanity, compassion and gentle & quick response to my situation made me feel seen, cared for and like I was seen and accepted as the human I am. Being in my 30’s with ADHD only having been diagnosed 2 years ago, it can be challenging understanding the “why’s” of my physical, mental and emotional responses and navigating them in the real world, namely when I have a “I want to keep everyone safe” complex. This facility and their entire team (down to even Natalia at Genoa Pharmacy, which is inside the same building) has impressed me from day 1. Thank you all so much for what you do, for your humanity, compassion and kindness. This world needs more of what you all offer and provide, and it was such a deeply impactful feeling to know that I am truly the safest when there and in the care of the entire team there. I’d give them 10 stars if I could. Truly, the way they handled this when it’s something I’m use to navigating on my own and calming down from just because my brain gets overstimulated easily, means so much. There genuinely aren’t enough words to express how much it meant to me. In short, thank you.

I was going to this place for... most of my life technically. Anxiety related. I'm currently 30 and my first appointment was with Judy Connor when I was in elementary (yes, that long ago). I missed an appointment when I was in the hospital. Probably missed a few over the years. Guess I'm not allowed to be a patient there anymore. It is what it is. That's on me. No hard feelings. So why did I take a star off? After Albert left I was set up with this Dr. Chau guy and as others in the reviews have stated, he tried to change my medication after the first appointment and is personally... what I would describe as an unpleasant individual to be around. It's only my mental health, might as well switch it up, even though I was doing well and only really needed refills... Yeah, so after sucking every ounce of positivity from the room with charisma uncomfortably absent and awkward eye contact he told me he doesn't prescribe my anxiety medication. He's one of those doctors that doesn't prescribe benzos or something. I can only conclude it's his personal bias about a group of medication (that actually work) being more important than the mental and overall well-being of others... Despite the last couple months I was going here being a negative experience, this place was pretty great overall. Still have untreated anxiety and can't really function. Oh well, guess this is just my life now. Oh, yeah... The pharmacy and front desk are amazing. Seriously. They're super friendly and always remembered my name and they would call to reminded me to refill. Pretty cool that the pharmacy is in the same building now. I wouldn't mind being a patient here again if they had a Doctor like Albert. If you're hesitant. I'd say go for it. Just don't miss any appointments.

Chief medical Charles Tilly is my doctor who prescribes most of my medications. I went their in 2019 after going to a facility in 2019 and when I got back home I was still seeing him. But when I went to spirit lakes facility for plains area... it was horrible. But we ain't talking about plains area spirit lake we talking about le Mars iowa plains area. Anyways... my doctor before I went to Charles tilly I was basically I was put on a good amount of medications and it was awful x.x but until I saw Charles tilly, he said to me that my main goal is to put you on less medications as possible. Also with my last recent visit via zoom, he said that he knows I don't do well in hospitals and he just wants me to stay right where I am. That's with my good mother. Plus he knows alot about natives. (I don't know how though) But when I get so nervous before an appointment with him, and when the appointment comes he talks in a very calming way and for some reason I can open up to him and I'm super calm. Like being nervous to calm in an instant. I don't know how he does his magical powers but he does. To be honest... I think he has a gift spiritually. Also he's a really good doctor for medications. Also my therapist Angela Nilles is a cool beans therapist. I love her so much. ^-^

I love Plains in LeMars. When I moved out here 11years ago, I was having trouble finding someone to help with my meds. I became a patient of another well known facility in the area that over medicated me. I couldn't function anymore. So my regular doctor recommended "PA Tilley" as she called him. PA Tilley literally saved my life! I would recommend him in a heart beat. When I moved back home in 2014 I pretty much moved back out here in 2017 for a couple of reasons and PA Tilley was one of them. His "cocktail" as I call it worked for me and other docs wanna to mess with it. Nobody messes with my cocktail! 😉 Thanks PA Tilley, I enjoy coming to see you and love having a fellow East Coast native who understands me!!

My first time at Burgess via 🚑 for chest pain. The staff was amazing. They got slammed about the same time but someone was always checking in on me and making sure I was up to speed on a plan. I was an anxious mess but they never judged me and kept my husband in the loop with everything. I ended up being transported out to Council Bluffs but they did everything in their power to make sure I was comfortable and felt as safe as possible. Hands down the best care I've ever received from an ED staff. Thank you ❤️

I haven't personally been a patient here, but I have had several friends complete the inpatient program for substance abuse, and they all seemed to like it. I know you can still smoke cigarettes, but no cell phones the first few weeks and limited if any contact at all with the outside world. It's coed, so that probably helps people when making a decision for an inpatient facility. Especially when we're talking 30+ days or more, detoxing off any and all things good, lol! The entrance to check in is tricky to find too, it's actually on the back side, or really, it might even be the side of the building under an awning. Hit the buzzer, and someone comes to help you get checked in.
