I was happy with the techs, nurses, and groups. I was not impressed with my psychiatrist- she was rude and made me feel like an idiot for coming in. I didn’t think I would leave the hospital feeling 10x worse than when I went there. I already hate myself and having constant self loathing thoughts and she made me feel worse. I don’t care how awful I feel in the future, I will not go back there.

Worthington, Minnesota | Southwestern Mental Health – Unity House is a drug and alcohol rehab and mental health facility located in Worthington, MN. Residential a | Treatments Programs Payment Options | As with most mental health facilities, some of the practitioners are cold and uncaring while others pour their hearts into their work. One significant pro is that the rooms are private. Just be aware that the staff will constantly be checking on you if you are in your room alone. Sometimes this disrupts sleep and they will not care about leaving your door open and the light shining in.
If you are coming here due to legal reasons or need to just escape the traumas of modern living, I do think that a few weeks stay has the potential to heal much.
Doing the 90 day program, though, of course, is labor intensive and exhausting.
The rules and regulations of the Eleva Care handbook are restrictive because they've had people violate minute rules and minutiae and get away with inappropriate behavior.
Overall, staff really helped me get my head on straight and I am very grateful to have gotten back in touch with my true self and connect with inner values that I hold.
If you're having severe and persistent mental illness, I do recommend this treatment facility. I found the experience of being here for a sustained length of time to be very humanizing.

I was admitted to the psychiatric hospital wing in March and long story short, this place saved my life.
I was in a really bad place and had the wrong medication prescribed to me, it was so bad I went to the ER because I was thinking about hurting myself. Spencer is 5 hours away from where I live and I was terrified of going that far but I believe it was where I was meant to go.
The nurses were AMAZING, the groups were extremely helpful and supportive, and the psychiatrist was kind and understanding. I was there for 4 days and felt completely safe and comfortable there. Never once did I feel judged.
To the staff that took care of me, thank you from the bottom of my heart!

My first time at Burgess via 🚑 for chest pain. The staff was amazing. They got slammed about the same time but someone was always checking in on me and making sure I was up to speed on a plan. I was an anxious mess but they never judged me and kept my husband in the loop with everything. I ended up being transported out to Council Bluffs but they did everything in their power to make sure I was comfortable and felt as safe as possible. Hands down the best care I've ever received from an ED staff. Thank you ❤️

So, i completed 2 stays at this location previously. The first time it was late 90s and it was called Charter.i did 42 day program, i wasn't court ordered and the place was nice. I came back around 02 or 03 ish and they'd become New beginnings, completed a 28 day stay, both of these were Co Ed treatment. I was there again November of 2024, wasnt bad, but I noticed areas where there were cut backs, focusing on profit but they did have a new Rec building for activities. It's no longer co ed but I think that's important and should be that way for treatment. Anyway I lasted 5 days and left. I left for a combination of reasons but the 1st reason was a big one that was not ok and a total violation of ethics and I'm sure policy. Apon arrival you go through an admissions process where paperwork and questions and all those things take place, then there's staff that'll go through your things, checking what's approved, unapproved, considered contraband, medications, phone, gadgets, ect... they took some things to be placed in the counselors office, have me other stuff and made me aware of what's ok, what id need to ask, what stuff isn't allowed. I signed acknowledging i was informed. Place my stuff on a cart and led to my room. Roommate was asleep so I stayed up a couple hours and did nothing, with same staff that admitted me
FF 2 days later I'm walking down the hallway, approaching the staff station and I can here my name coming from behind the wall, I was confused the windows on the other side and it was just odd, I peeked into the station, saw several people looking back and I turned away looking for the source of hearing my name when another girl/staff came out with an envelope and asked if this was me and is it mine. I grabbed it (the Manila envelope,) looked in and recognized it was some legal papers and some things I wanted with me to review. I said yes, where'd you get this? She said it was back there pointing to staff station, and when I turned and looked it was the girl who checked me in and all the residence staff. She had taken it to look over with all these staff and never told me. Idk why, or what for, but when they go through all your stuff at admissions, everything gets logged. They aren't supposed to secretly staff some of your things so they can review on their own, i wasn't confused it was clear what they were doing. After that a couple personal incidents and i left. Now after leaving about 2 months later I'm get an invoice/ bill from some company claiming I owe almost $200. So I call and say what is this? They tell me it's the balance of what isn't covered for medication while there.
I took no medication while there, i came in with heartburn pills that I bought new, never opened.
They're OTC, they chatted them in my stuff kept at nurses station. They are $14 and come 42 pills. I took one on a night we ate something I thought might trigger heartburn. ONE yes 1 pill, that belonged to me, that i brought with me paid in full. So they then billed some company so much for that one bill the balance was almost $200. Well I explained to this company is fraud then I called the to dog at new beginnings, who was conveniently out sick that day and left a detailed message explaining that this was fraud and i wanted a call back. There's no way to make a mistake when I took 1 pill of my OTC meds. I never heard from new beginnings. Meridian now owns a bunch of these facilities and they aren't bad, but you need to be aware. Lots of thieves, and if you smoke cigarettes, be careful as it's impossible to avoid the cigarette bums, always promising they get you this weekend or whatever but it's non stop and gets old super fast.
It's for profit and feels like it. Food was decent, residents were a mix of voluntary and court ordered
