Chief medical Charles Tilly is my doctor who prescribes most of my medications. I went their in 2019 after going to a facility in 2019 and when I got back home I was still seeing him. But when I went to spirit lakes facility for plains area... it was horrible. But we ain't talking about plains area spirit lake we talking about le Mars iowa plains area. Anyways... my doctor before I went to Charles tilly I was basically I was put on a good amount of medications and it was awful x.x but until I saw Charles tilly, he said to me that my main goal is to put you on less medications as possible. Also with my last recent visit via zoom, he said that he knows I don't do well in hospitals and he just wants me to stay right where I am. That's with my good mother. Plus he knows alot about natives. (I don't know how though) But when I get so nervous before an appointment with him, and when the appointment comes he talks in a very calming way and for some reason I can open up to him and I'm super calm. Like being nervous to calm in an instant. I don't know how he does his magical powers but he does. To be honest... I think he has a gift spiritually. Also he's a really good doctor for medications. Also my therapist Angela Nilles is a cool beans therapist. I love her so much. ^-^

I love Plains in LeMars. When I moved out here 11years ago, I was having trouble finding someone to help with my meds. I became a patient of another well known facility in the area that over medicated me. I couldn't function anymore. So my regular doctor recommended "PA Tilley" as she called him. PA Tilley literally saved my life! I would recommend him in a heart beat. When I moved back home in 2014 I pretty much moved back out here in 2017 for a couple of reasons and PA Tilley was one of them. His "cocktail" as I call it worked for me and other docs wanna to mess with it. Nobody messes with my cocktail! Thanks PA Tilley, I enjoy coming to see you and love having a fellow East Coast native who understands me!!

My mental illness made me fall apart of so many therapists because they had no idea what to say or do. Then I came here, and it has helped me tremendously. They actually know what they are talking about! They created options for people who can't go all the time to the offices (like me).
The medical staff has helped me cope with some very difficult situations. This is the very best care available to me

She does so much more for her clients than any one else who works there realizes! When I was staying in a motel, she was checking on me daily making sure I was okay. She has provided me resources. She helped me fill out applications for housing programs and applications to get into my home. She does a lot more than she s required to do. This woman deserves a raise and a promotion. Really really loved this place! Was here twice a few years back for suicide and self harm attempts. The staff were so nice, the beds were honestly comfortable. The food was honestly so good! Staff let us have extra snack in the evening if we are 75% or more of our meals. Of course, I always ate 100%. I absolutely loved room time, rec time, tv time, snack time, etc. Wish I had a roommate but other then that it was great! We stayed in the unit all day but it was still so much fun, we made the best of it.

Many of the people posting negative comments are not complaining about Avera, they are complaining about a particular doctor. The trick here, as it is in every clinic in the country, is getting a doctor (what we used to call a GP I guess) that's right for you. I have Dr. Lilgaroth, she is great, so I gave 5 stars. My wife has had bad experiences in the past with so many male drs (the old "you're a woman & I'm both a man AND a doctor, so I'm gonna ignore what you say") that she finally demanded a female doctor, and that happened to work out great for her. Gender may not have been the reason, she may just have got a great dr-- the important thing is, my wife was comfortable with her. When her female dr retired, she ended up with a male dr (Dr Gunderson, I believe?) and she says he is great. Ya just gotta shop around and get a doc that is a fit for you-- that is true of any clinic, not just Avera. But I've also had pretty much all positive experiences with other parts of the clinic-- reception, labs, nurses, Avera hospitals, even the money people. (Btw, I'm not a nice guy or a pollyanna; I am by nature an extremely demanding pain in the, uh, rear.)

i ve been here 3 times. I was in adolescent 1 twice and the food is good, fun groups and the staff is nice and they care. They will talk to you if you need help or play card games if they are not busy. They show you how to cope as long as you re paying attention. some kids there can be rude but it s not personal and doesn t happen very often.

I have 18 year old son he had a head surgery 3 years ago and now his start using drugs and alcohol 24 hour I try to change him but he never listen to parent and we have another 9 years son stay together at same house so because of his behavior he start feeling depressed because of his brother behavior

I highly recommend if you are struggling with addiction to opiates/heroin. If you want to change your life around don't hesitate The doctor is amazing and listens. The Nurses are so sweet. We've been using SBH for a few years and I am extremely satisfied. My son has difficulties trusting and opening up (as well as others), and his counselor has been amazing at gaining his trust and doesn't push him too hard. I've seen some positive changes since beginning and couldn't be happier with them!
