Not sure why all the bad reviews. Probably just people that need to learn to be grateful. But who knows!? Anyway, this place is great. Everyone is friendly. If there are issues they work to resolve them. I've never been able to get this much help all in one place. This organization is truly a blessing that I'm immensely grateful for. I'd recommend them to anyone that's struggling with anything.

I cannot comment on the actual services provided by this agency. However, I have called and spoken with the front desk in regards to clients already receiving services. Every time I call to request information, I am greeted by warm staff who are pleasant to speak with and provide excellent assistance to whatever my inquiry was. I have never had a negative experience with the front desk staff at this agency.

I don't understand why all these people are saying bad things about this place. They are great people. They do their job amazingly, If the people at the front desk have an attitude and treat you rudely, don't sit back and be quiet address it. Tell him how it is. That's how it goes otherwise. I'm a chronic relapser and have been to Valley Hope several times. My relapses had nothing to do with Valley Hope and the care they provided. It just wasn't my time yet. I love Atchison Valley Hope. The staff are A+. They genuinely care about the patients while there and after their discharge. I get calls from my counselors and case workers periodically just to see how I'm doing. It's more than collecting an insurance check with them. I finally took their advice and went to php and iop, in addition to an addiction counselor. I'm 65 years old and sober for the first time in a very long time. There's no treatment center that's going to keep you sober or drug free. It takes work, but at AVH they will provide a serious reboot for your future. Alec T.

Well, I’ve been with BHG in Joplin for 10 years now, and I really couldn’t ask for a better place to get real treatment. I’m from California, been on methadone on and off for 30 years. This time I’ve been on it straight since 2008. I moved to Arkansas in 2017 and chose BHG to do my treatment. I’m so happy I chose BHG, it’s honestly the best clinic I’ve ever been to. Ever. My counselor Nancy is the most amazing beautiful soul I’ve met in my life. She is a blessing to me and to the clinic. Every one of her patients love her. The nurses are so sweet and respectful. I have been to so many clinics where the nurses are rude, disrespectful and right down mean. That’s not the case at BHG. I love these nurses. It’s literally a joy to go pick up my medication, I always look forward to seeing the nurses and getting my 5 minutes of chat time with them. These ladies are never rude, even when having a bad day, they all keep their smile and always are respectful. Lisa is an amazing director, (I think that’s what her title is, lol. I’m an old lady so please forgive me if I’m wrong) Lisa is a wonderful young lady, I just adore her. The doctor is one of my favorite people on earth. Every year at my physical, she makes me laugh so much. She is a compassionate and funny soul, and genuinely cares about her patients. BHG truly is the best clinic to go to for real treatment. Every one who works there is so kind and supportive. They really care how you’re doing. And they are there for you when you’re not doing so well. You can’t get better treatment anywhere else.

I used to visit this Topeka VA center frequently and some times had to go to Leavenworth and KC. I relocated to the Tulsa, OK area. I was never displeased with the VAMC in Topeka, usually content and satisfied. I did not know how good I had it! I miss the Topeka VA very much. The Oklahoma system state wide is bad and Tulsa in particular. It is leagues behind in all categories. Topeka is a very good facility with good friendly staff and nicer and more thoughtful amenities to boot. I have experienced the contrast.

Every staff member I've met has been helpful, lovely, and smiling. Yes, the campus has some bumps and dings, even kids from the most stable backgrounds are careless. It makes sense, but people are working as hard as possible behind the scenes to fix those bumps and dings. The fact that there's a full size gym, a swimming pool that the kids have the opportunity to get into everyday in the summer and as many accoutrements of a family house as possible really makes what looks to me like the best out of a tough situation for some kids.

I was in their IOP. The staff and our group therapist were amazing. The group therapist was so kind and encouraging and was really good at including the entire group in conversation. I am forever grateful to them for everything I have learned. Also Heartland is a wonderful team to work with on the medical side. I did TMS for depression with them and I have to say this is the first time in a long time I don’t feel that constant heaviness and hopelessness anymore. Thank you MRC for all you have done for me. This place has truly changed my life, and it just dawned on me 5 months after completing the program. Sorry in advance for the long post. I started the MRC program around February 2026 for severe anxiety and depression. I was in a dark place, with no support from family or friends, and honestly I didn't think anything was going to help me at that point. The first day I arrived the staff were very welcoming but my anxiety was through the roof. I pretty much stayed in my room and only came out for meds and food too scared to really talk to anyone. As the weeks went by, I started getting comfortable then realized my peers were literally going through the same thing I was same with the staff, some of whom had gone through the same program themselves It gave me motivation if they could do it I could do it too. One of the things I struggled with was my schedule. It got so bad it started bleeding into everything like one day I'd sleep at 9pm, the next at 1pm, then I wouldn't sleep at all for three days straight. When I got there I kept missing classes because I was oversleeping or straight up refusing to wake up, so I got a warning that my phone would be taken away. That scared me straight that's when I finally got my shit together lol. Now 5 months later I had lost my job, totaled my car and pretty much everything I owned. A year ago that would've completely broken me. But I was okay. And that was the part that surprised me the most all this time I'd been chasing something that never had any real value to me in the first place. The job was good money sure but it brought me zero happiness. Working 90 hours a week was actively making my depression worse and I didn't even see it happening until I was already in here fighting to get my mind back. So when the termination letter came yesterday there was sadness but there was relief too. That job had become my whole identity a false one built on something that was quietly destroying me. Now today at 8am instead of frantically getting ready for a job that only made me miserable I'm sitting outside bird watching and reading a magazine like I'm 70 years old lol. And that's the lesson that took me almost losing everything to learn chasing something that has no real value to you personally will wear you down piece by piece until there's nothing left. I'm just grateful I got to learn that here instead of losing myself completely over it. Thank you MRC ❤️

Kyle Windler is as awesome as they come. He went above and beyond to accommodate my requests. My son left Arista after a few days for various reasons, leaving all his belongings behind, including a package I had sent from Amazon. Kyle went out of his way to make sure the Amazon was returned and I received a refund. He’s currently working on returning my son‘s wallet to him, and I have all confidence that he will find a way to do this. I contacted Arista several times to address these issues and finally found someone that directed me to Kyle, who was courteous and genuinely understanding of my stress and determined to resolve my issues. I went with my partner to his annual checkup with NP Johng, at the Shawnee VA Clinic, and he made the whole process painless and so informative. Everyone on the staff was so courteous and respectful, kind and knowledgeable; it was amazing. NP Johng was extremely thorough, encouraging, personable, patient, kind and knowledeable and answered all our many questions with great respect; not treating my partner as if he was just a number. We learned so much about how to improve his health and how to make changes for the better; emphasizing the valuable use of properly dosed medication in conjunction with lifestyle changes for maximum health benefits. Salvation Army when I went homeless after the military I didn’t know they had services for veterans like this. The KCVA helped to get into the Salvation Army. I had to stay here due to indifferences at my house. My stay was comfortable and peaceful. The other Veterans are kind. My case worker Irene was very hard on me at first lol! After I was admitted in she was kind and loved all of us. Integration was easy. Irene will help you get more % to help in your case. She is there for you. Use her and let her know how you feel. She has been working there for 15 years (KC,Kansas). What an accomplishment. There are others that work with Irene that are just as important to you. You have to do chores but they aren’t large duties. Roger will be on you. It’s good to clean your surroundings makes you feel good. Breakfast isn’t the greatest but, that will change. Yvette serves breakfast she has to have thick skin because she didn’t make the food. She has no control on what is being served. Be nice to her always and your days will go better. Lunch and Dinner are more filling. Blake is one of the cooks trying to make new desserts and new meals. There is a “suggestion box” downstairs so fill it out. They have snack later on in the night. I met Tom from Salvation Army very stand up person he is kind and cordial. They have a gym for basketball and a small workout room. The Veterans I met are my forever brothers. I will stay in touch after I leave. Thank you Salvation Army for helping me find my way.
