Casco Bay Recovery in Portland, Maine, is an addiction treatment center for men and women. They offer individualized outpatient treatment for alcohol and substance use disorders. Wow, were to start. Casco Bay saved my life literally! I was at my lowest of lows when I called for info. It was the scariest calls I have ever made. The staff was so welcoming and understanding of my situation. From the day I showed up to the day I left all the staff were totally incredible. I instantly felt comfortable and truly trusted these people that I just met. I felt safer with the staff than any other person including my best friends. There hole mission was to help me and in the first time in my life I felt Like I belong and feel safe. I have never in my 56 years have ever felt peace like that and I still feel that way. They have given me not my old life back but a much better one. One that I never knew I could have. I can't say enough about the sober living provided by Casco Bay too. The house managers played a huge role in my recovery. From having coffee every morning to after dinner and going to meetings they were great. Everybody including the owners and managers are all in recovery. That being said, they are not just giving you the textbook knowledge. They lived it. They know what it's like to be in your shoes. They are proof that their program works. I did a lot of research before I committed and am verry glad to pick Casco Bay. After living in the Portland area for a while I realized how the whole community respects Casco Bay. Clients from all over and from other facilities all said Casco Bay is the best. This is coming from clients that have been to places all across the country. Not one single person said they found a better place to rehab. I'm not a salesperson or marketer. I am a real person with real issues the Casco Bay helped. I have 3 mor days of a 15-week program and I'm happier than I ever have been! I have regained my family, career, and my sole back. Thank you, Casco Bay!

Casco Bay Recovery has truly been life changing for me. The staff genuinely cares about the people they work with, and I have always felt supported, heard, and treated with compassion and respect. This program has helped me build a strong foundation for my recovery while giving me a sense of community and connection that I didn’t know I needed. I’ve learned so much about myself, my recovery, and how to keep moving forward one day at a time.

My experience at Providence Retreat was nothing short of life-changing. This is not a typical rehab, and that distinction matters. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that this was a place designed for deep spiritual work rather than clinical treatment—and that is exactly what I needed. Providence Retreat offers something rare: space. Space to slow down, to reflect, and to engage fully with the Twelve Steps in a meaningful and intentional way. There is no overload of information or constant programming. Instead, you are guided methodically through the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, allowing the process to unfold with clarity and depth. What stood out most to me was the sincerity of the men leading the retreat. They are not professionals detached from the work—they are men who have walked this path themselves and are committed to passing on what was freely given to them. That authenticity creates an environment of trust, humility, and honesty that is difficult to put into words. Providence Retreat is especially powerful for men who may have struggled in traditional treatment settings or stalled in their step work. It offers a new experience—one rooted in spiritual principles, accountability, and genuine human connection. The retreat does not promise overnight change, nor does it claim to be the end of the journey. It is the beginning. Spiritual progress is the goal, and if persisted in, the results truly are great. Seeing alumni return to meetings to give back says everything about the impact of this place. Providence Retreat helped lay the solid foundation for my recovery and gave me tools I continue to use today. I am deeply grateful for the experience and would recommend it to any man seeking a sincere, spiritually grounded path forward.

My son was here for a little over a week. No place is perfect but the night he went there I was worried sick by the end of his stay I can say I put trust into the staff there. It is a nice facility for what it is. I liked how the kids were able to go outside and do some activities other than being confined to a room. My son mentioned he was cold one night and a staff member put blankets in the dryer so they were warm for him. Way to go seriously deserves recognition. This job is not easy! I also liked how there was a plan set in place for my son and zoom meetings were set up for me to attend when I couldn’t make it down there because I live over 3 hours away. The reception staff and security guards who met me at the front were all welcoming and nice. The only real complaint I have that made me a little uneasy was that my son had a cup of water dumped over his head by another patient and hurt his foot outside both times I was not contacted nor his dad of these events. Overal good facility for what it is. Thank you all for watching over my son praying for better days ahead. 🙏

Don't think for ONE SECOND that you're going to help the day you call, you won't. Getting into a state sanctioned program takes time and there are hoops to go through, for a reason. They give you an appointment to come back and they make sure that you have NO open scripts for opiates, paperwork, paperwork, see a doctor, see a nurse, see a counselor, and this is all at 6am. You may be going through withdrawals by the time you dose, around 1pm. YOU WILL NOT GET HELP THE DAY YOU CALL!!!!! Don't think you will. If you need help NOW, go to the hospital or try Kratom. Cap is awesome but you have to put your recovery ahead of the people and the counselors. Not gonna sugar coat this subject at all.

My name is Tene Downing. I joined the Crossroads program on November 17, 2025 into PHP. I attended the program for that week and sadly had a relapse that Saturday. I joined PHP group first thing Monday morning and was open and honest about my relapse. The team quickly worked together to set up more supportive services for me. I asked for residential and was quickly forwarded to intake. I did the intake process and was admitted to Back Cove on November 25th. I was nicely greeted by staff and was comforted from my overwhelming feelings. During my stay at Back Cove I was able to attend meaningful groups during the day that taught me the coping skills and tools I needed to work on my sobriety. I also met an amazing group of women that I am able to call lifelong friends. The support and bond I built with all the women at the house is unforgettable. I successfully left the house 28 days later feeling ready to move forward at home with my recovery. I will always be thankful to Crossroads for taking me in when I was at the worst point in my life. I now participate in IOP daily. I am grateful for my IOP group as it keeps me going every single day. I am to comfortably share and receive help working through the hard times. I am also able to celebrate the happy moments as well with another great group of women. If anyone is struggling with substance abuse I would definitely recommend reaching out to Crossroads to receive the help you need to live a sober and healthy life.

Entering my second month of this journey, I'm already experiencing a remarkable transformation. My previous performance was, to put it mildly, subpar. I felt immense pressure, a constant burden weighing me down. I firmly believe that without the support and encouragement I've received here at Milestone, I wouldn't have come this far. Witnessing the incredible Thanksgiving dinner prepared by some of our fellow participants serves as a powerful reminder that anything is possible. If they can achieve such a feat, so can you. Update: Month 4, learning so much more, how to live again. Life is good, my best day back then isn't even close to my worst day today! Update April 13th, 2025 Reaching six months at Milestone Foundation feels like an extraordinary milestone. This journey has taken me from a place of isolation to a vibrant community of other men. Here, I've rediscovered the power of connection and learned vital tools for sober living and personal development. Leading creative energy initiatives, sharing the meditative aspects of art, and engaging in insightful groups like "Coffee Talk" have enriched my experience. The support and guidance, particularly from my counselor Melissa, have been invaluable. I am profoundly grateful for this opportunity to rebuild my life in such a nurturing environment.

They will help you and be there for you to the best of their ability as long as you show up and participate. If you really want this, if you show that you care about your recovery, they show they care maybe more than you do!. The Group setting is a little nerve racking at first, but everyone is open and wants to listen and help, you just have to let people into your heart, its the only way ❤

Last September I fell and shattered my shoulder. The ER staff were amazing. They took me right away I had X-rays done they were so gentle, then the ER doctor with the greatest and empathetic bedside manner explained to me that I shattered my shoulder which I knew it was bad. They put me in a supportive sling and gave me pain pills. I told them that I would follow up with my doctor back home in Massachusetts. This happened on a weekend. If I was home I probably would have waited for hours. This Hospital deserves 10 stars. The Nurses were exceptional as well.

I have had a wonderful experience at this place. I feel safe with the staff and clinicians. They not only provide a bed they also provide help with medication issues, groups focusing on using coping skills and meditation techniques, daily clinician visits and also home cooked dinners nightly. Individual plans are implemented and staff supports everyone with reaching their set goals. The bottom line is the entire team works in such a way as to show an act of compassion and understanding in a society that tends to minimize a person’s mental health crisis situation. It is a safe haven because it is nonjudgmental.

I went to this facility for 2 weeks and it helped me get centered and put me in contact with resources that I found myself overwhelmed with doing on my own. I’m beyond grateful for the experience this facility gave me. I’ve been to a few facilities in my life and this one was different and changed my perspective. I’m 24 and I’m in recovery and broadway crossing gave me a perspective change during a hard point in my life. The connection with peers and staff mixed with professional help and understanding was exactly what I needed. It works if you work it. Thank you broadway crossing!!!!!

My first experience with Frisbee hospital couldn’t have gone better. The people at Frisbee were very kind and professional from the time I entered until I left. I can’t say enough about the doctor and staff. There was no doubt these folks care about their patients. Great experience!

I firmly believe " give credit where credit is due", that said, the staff of the adult physciatric ward are to be commended. The staff beginning with Dr. Lemkin to include staff members David, Alise, Liz, Jade, Linda, Sadie, Grace, including the dietary staff and housekeeping crew were all excellent. I was referred to Frisbie in early May of this year by Portsmouth Regional hospital under some less than favorable conditions. The staff of Frisbie provided me with caring, compassion, empathy, and non judgemental attitudes. Although short staffed, the folks in this unit went above and beyond to show me the care necessary to get me back to normal mentally and physically. I will be forever grateful to the entire staff of Frisbie Memorial. In closing, I have begun to lead a more rewarding life in the Lord and look forward to each and every day. Many thanks and God Bless. Respectfully, Keith Morrison
