During a recent admission to New Oakland Family Centers, I met Wendi & Brandy at the front desk. These two ladies were so kind and helpful, as well as interested in constructive thoughts and suggestions from customers. They were engaging and immediately adopted small suggestions that would improve messaging or efficiency at their office. They were very friendly, comforting, and helpful as well. Companies can use more employees like these two! (Middlebelt & 14 Mile location).

I had a great experience with therapy here. When I was through and wanted my notes and paperwork from my time there I called the place and was transferred to medical records where I left a message to return my call. My call was returned within the day and I was emailed my paperwork asap, no problem. I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends.

i competed the adult PHP and i couldn’t be happier about my time at new oakland! i am a healthcare provider myself and the therapists, providers, and support staff are SO genuine and kind. being in a group therapy setting was a scary thought initially but i felt that it was a very safe space to share my experiences. i also enjoyed hearing other’s experiences as it helped to remind me that we are all going through similar issues in life. the therapists even completed the worksheets along side of us and shared their experiences about their own healing journeys which was reassuring. i’ve learned and grown so much during my time here and i am very appreciative of the employees who made it happen: zach, mara, michelle, amber and everyone else. ya’ll deserve a raise LOL. thank you!!! :)

YOU ARE NOT ALONE!! GET THE HELP ITS WORTH IT!!!❤️❤️❤️ I truly can’t say enough about how much the New Oakland Clarkston location changed my life. I came in during a crisis, and I left feeling stable, hopeful, and genuinely happy. From the moment you walk through the doors, you’re greeted with open arms—there’s no judgment, just compassion, warmth, and professionalism. I was part of the face-to-face program at 28 years old, and everything exceeded my expectations. The group therapy sessions were incredibly powerful and gave me tools I didn’t even realize I was missing. My group leader, Kailee, was with me for the majority of the program and is genuinely one of the most bubbly, kindhearted, and knowledgeable souls I’ve ever met. She created a space that was safe, supportive, and uplifting every single day. Niki, my therapist, is truly amazing—so insightful, attentive, and caring. Dominique, the nurse, is an absolute gem—compassionate, patient, and always there when you need her. And Matt, the psychologist, didn’t waste any time helping me find the right medication and support. He took my concerns seriously and acted quickly, which made a world of difference. The staff here truly care. It doesn’t feel like “treatment”—it feels like a community of people who love what they do and want to help you grow and heal. The food was great every day, the atmosphere was calming and structured, and they even gave us breaks for fresh air, which made a huge difference for my mental health. This place gave me a full toolbox to take with me, and for the first time in a long time, I feel ready. But here’s the truth: you get out what you put in. If you show up, participate, and commit to the process, you will see change. This team will support you every step of the way, but you have to meet them there. What sets New Oakland apart is that their care doesn’t stop when you walk out the door. They set you up with a real plan for continued support—and they actually follow through. I will forever be grateful for the experience I had here. This team helped me find myself again. Thank you, New Oakland Clarkston. You saved me.

I recently was discharged from the PHP Face to Face program. It was an amazing program! I learned a lot of coping skills, and really felt that I was in a safe, non-judgmental facility. I spent most of my time with Kailee. She is EXACTLY what the mental health world needs. She is so kind. She really takes the time to get to know. She challenges you, makes you get a little out of your comfort zone, and shows incredible support. I also had the pleasure of working with Martha and Dr. Harris. Both were so warm and friendly. You can tell they just want to see you feel better. Everyone I encountered was so kind! They never made me feel bad or insecure about being there. Even the front desk ladies were amazing! The one who works check in was always in a great mood, and that helps you settle in and feel comfortable. Overall, I highly recommend New Oakland in Clarkston if you’re in a dark patch. They will help you create an action plan to get you back to your best self! I hope I never hit a spot again where I need PHP again, but it’s great to know there’s such wonderful humans willing to help you. 10 out of 10 experience.

Social workers are great, therapists are great, nurse practitioners are great, this review is more for HEGIRA in general but their psych doctors are all disrespectful.will talk down to you, judge you from the very beginning, at least that's my experience with each new doctor I see and location I go to. They see I am prescribed Suboxone (have been for 5 plus years) and try to take me off of my psych meds I've been on for five years or longer.yes, one is a controlled substance but ive heard so many reasons why they won't or can't continue me on my medicine that I know works because I've been told multiple times completely different stories.it took years to find the right cocktail that works for me.only by the prescribing doctors do I ever have anything to complain about.i don't usually leave reviews for anything unless it's something I love or it's a genuine problem.i know plenty of people who are prescribed incredibly unnecessary amounts of drugs, or people with the same or similar combination I am on and don't have the problem i am having. opioid crisis I get it but not everyone taking them is abusing them.is the only way I'm going to get the same meds I've always been on by going to a shrink where I have to pay? I've seen plenty of doctors who weren't psych doctors but would still give me my psych meds with my Suboxone, yes things are different now more strict, but over the last two and a half years of trying to find a shrink to get my stuff from the right doctor , I haven't had a psych prescribe my psych meds to me In almost three years. My PCP and my Suboxone doctor help me by writing them as long as I show them I am trying to get in somewhere. So if it's perfectly fine for the doctors who really shouldn't be giving benzos scripts to me (psych meds were originally started from actual psychiatrist in the beginning) why in the EFF will absolutely no one help me?!?

My visit to the ENT here was wonderful. I met Dr. Zacharek, who was professional, kind, and humorous. He patiently performed endoscopic examinations of my nose, ears, and mouth—definitely one of the best doctors I’ve ever encountered. The staff here were also incredibly friendly. The nurse at the front desk helped schedule my follow-up appointment and even proactively booked a consultation with an allergist doctor for me, so I didn’t have to call and arrange it myself. Later, when I wasn’t sure where to go for my blood test, a doctor passing by noticed and personally walked me to the lab. The nurse who drew my blood was also very gentle and considerate—he even switched to the smallest needle without me asking. Ahh, it was such a great medical experience, filled with so many sweet and lovely people!

Wasn’t sure what to expect when I first called DeMi Detox, but man… it ended up changing everything for me. 💪 These folks don’t just toss you a bed and walk away—they really show up for you. The vibe is chill but focused, and the programs are actually built to work with your mind, not against it. 🧠From day one, they treated me like I mattered. No sugarcoating, no BS—just a team that gets it and knows how to walk you through hell and out the other side. If you’re looking for a fresh start, this is the place.

DeMi Detox made everything feel manageable from the jump. The moment I called, someone picked up with a calm, no-pressure vibe — just wanted to help. They walked me through the steps like I wasn’t alone, and that meant a lot.Once I got there, it was smooth and supportive. No judgment, just real people doing solid work. They checked in often, kept things clear, and made sure I was comfortable through detox. If you’re overwhelmed and don’t know where to start, DeMi’s one call that actually helps.

DeMi Detox is where the real work starts. You show up feelin’ wrecked—physically, mentally, all of it—and they don’t flinch. They’ve seen the worst and still treat you with straight-up respect. Detox is tight, safe, and they walk with you through every rough moment. No sugarcoatin’, but no shame either. Once your head clears, they help you figure out what’s next—real therapy, recovery plans, and support that actually sticks. The crew’s solid, the energy’s focused, and you leave feelin’ like you’ve got a shot again. DeMi ain’t just about gettin’ clean—it’s about stayin’ real and stayin’ free.

I am a skeptic when it comes to doctors and clinicians because of past experience with both myself and my children. But I can say with total confidence that Easterseals has done an amazing job helping my daughters and myself cope and adapt in a healthy way to live successfully in todays world. I can’t imagine being a teenager now a days, and as a parent, I would do anything to help my girls get through these tough years. Colleen has done a wonderful job helping us communicate even if it’s uncomfortable for both of us. She helped save my beautiful daughter from going into a very dark place. I see some do not share the same experiences we have with Easterseals, but I’ve been in and out with my girls over the years, and between the staff, docs, and therapists, they have all done an amazing job, considering what they too, have to deal with day in and day out. At times my girls had to change therapists in the middle of treatment, but they did an alright job matching them with someone similar. And if they are ready and willing to change, and it’s explained that stuff like this happens, we got through it. It’s hard to keep constant staff on hand all the time, so I understood. Thanks for all the help easterseals. You have a 5 star review from my family!!

This clinic has been through a lot of changes in the last year, thankfully they have all been positive. You would not recognize this place from a few years ago. The staff is nice, helpful and treat us clients like people. The inside is clean and repainted with new TV's and kept clean daily. I wish I knew about this place years ago! What a blessing the place is for people with a mental health crisis. It is completely voluntary and honestly hard to believe things COULD have been so EASY! You have to be referred but once you are, you can agree to go and get the rest you need while your body/mind adjusts to pharmaceutical drug changes, while being monitored by a medical team. You can use the computer and desk phone and have some books available to read as well as boardgames, if you make friends while there! You are free to do as you please but there is a schedule for meals and therapeutic activities. I was only there a day or so but I got what I needed and was able to sign myself out. Please note, your phone gets locked up. I’ve been using this office for a year now. I see two providers (psychiatrist, therapist) Ramesh is a wonderful psychiatrist! I met her back in 2018, but only left because I got a therapist in a different office, where their policy was that I had to have their psychiatrist if I went to their therapist. I did not like the psychiatrist after Ramesh, I wanted to go back to her. I then moved states, where I had to change psychiatrists 3 times and went extended periods of time without one due to frustration. None of them worked for me. When I moved back to Michigan I was happy to come back to Ramesh, and was even happier that she remembered me after 5 years! The therapist I started seeing in the office is Moray, him and I clicked immediately and it makes going to therapy both fun and actually fruitful. He has a 50:50 listening/feedback style and he’s very realistic, not sugar coating anything, not taking or giving bs. Sometimes the things he says does hit pretty hard, but I personally need that, and it’s always been for the best. Because of this I can make the changes I need to with more clarity and sometimes even prevent problems I was going to create by trying to fix other problems. The office staff at the desk are very polite, I’ve never had any issues with them or getting ahold of them on the phone. I have however had issues with whoever deals with the medications. I was having a really big issue a while back with my sleep medication, so I called the office and explained, they directed me to the man that was dealing with the medications, I explained my issue.. he didn’t listen. In fact, when I tried to re-explain my problem as it was apparent he misheard me, he snapped at me, angrily telling me not to interrupt him and asked if I wanted my sleep meds or not. We ended up giving back and forth attitude over the phone for a bit, which is probably why my problem wasn’t fixed that day. The office itself is always very clean, and so is the building it’s located in. The office itself doesn’t have a bathroom for guests, but the building has bathrooms near the elevators. Unrelated but I don’t know who is doing this, but every time I go into the women’s bathroom on the first floor it smells like the aftermath of 77 White Castle sliders, Taco Bell burritos, and grande Starbucks lattes. Whoever is doing that, for the love of all that is holy please bring febreze in your purse. It would save lives. Specifically mine. So after careful consideration, the verdict is 4/5 stars, only taking one away because of the rude and unhelpful guy in medications. <3

Update: Psychiatrist has been great, and I have had zero issues since my initial review with front desk staff. I have recommended Apex to friends and would continue to do so, my experience has not had any of the negatives shared in other reviews. The front desk staffing has improved, everyone has been 100% courteous and professional. Truly no complaints. I will update my review as my treatment continues, but it has so far been mostly positive. There must have been a change in front office since some of these reviews, as I never encountered any rudeness from the front desk staff. I will say that they are understaffed at the front desk leading to some extended wait times and potential for mistakes. Psychologist I have seen is fantastic, and they scheduled me to see a psychiatrist in less than a month, which sounds long but for the industry is actually quite soon.

I had off & on experiences throughout my multiple times here. A few staff every now & then bugged me, and I had some uncomfortable circumstances with other clients but overall– the PHP program helped quite a bit. Mrs. Nichelle, Mr. Chase, and Mrs. Flo were overall my favorite staff. They were kind, very very understanding and overall did their best too help people at their crisis points, even when times got heavy. They made sure everyone was accommodated too, and comfortable. I cannot recall the amount of times I've came back or needed a few minutes, and they didn't get upset or seem disappointed– but more or so gentle, and understanding. As for outpatient therapy, Ashley has been by far the best out of all 3 therapists I've had!! She's been nothing but understanding, and sympathetic towards my experiences. Psychiatry is iffy though, there's not much I know how too word about it.
