Just my opinion? As for the program, saved my life ! When I really didn't care to myself, I learned a lot while I was there. Most importantly I somehow had the epiphany that I never went to treatment because I wanted to quit using drugs, I went to treatment because I still wanted to use despite heavy consequences and I didn't know how to stop, and I had exhausted every resource I could come up with to continue using. I have now been drug and alcohol free for 17 months and my life is better than ever, I didn't expect to get this far , this easily. A certain staff member really helped me in making the next next decision on where to go from Eastwood that was a very important decision, not to go back into the same environment where I consistently succeeded to use a failed to stay clean, now matter how many reasons I came up with, or who else I could convince that it was a sound decision. I face my problems today and almost look forward to solving my problems as they arise ,there's nothing that can will would or could stop me from living a good life other than poor choices that would or could lead me in the wrong direction. The overwhelming majority of negative reviews are predicated upon "I didn't stay sober!" or "My [son, brother, husband] didn't stay sober!" Sorry, but no recovery program can do the work on your behalf. Period. Eastwood provides and instills all the resources, tools, and planning that anybody needs to recover. Rehab is a stepping stool out of the hole you're in; unfortunately you still have to climb, or build the ladder (with 12 steps). The majority of staff are themselves in recovery, and wholeheartedly dedicated to guiding others and sharing what they have achieved. There is not a better collection of people who sincerely want to save your life than Gwen, Eric, Tim, Kim, Jake, Jeremy, Jason... ALL of these angels. This building is a beacon of hope, a light that can help anyone find their way out of the darkness of addiction. I showed up here with nothing but desperation, and was provided with shelter, a warm bed, hot food, medical assistance, a wide-variety of programming that attacks my addiction from every angle. Eastwood provided everything from clothing and hygiene products to peer recovery coaching and out-patient aftercare, to long-term sober living once you complete programming. You can show up here broke, broken, and on the brink of death..and depart with literally everything you need to become your best you. They make sure you don't leave until you have housing or a safe place to go to. They make sure you have a plan for the necessary help after in-patient. They make sure you're ready, that you're okay. If you or somebody you know has an alcohol or drug problem, Eastwood will truly provide every single thing needed to put the pieces of your life back together. This is an ongoing community, this is truly a brotherhood. This place and these people are keeping people out of cages and graves. They care. They will love you until you love yourself. I guess I just got lucky. Kody Wright and Alyssa Ignasiak are wonderful case managers at southfield. Jessica Hubbard is a great therapist and listener. And Jeremy from peer support specialist was a great help when I needed someone. Easter seals provided me transportation to my in-person appointments which is very helpful, it's difficult for me to drive so im grateful for the service. Genoa pharmacyvalso delivers medicine directly to me. What else could you ask for? Unfortunately many of us are suffering and need help. Easter seals is doing God's work, people should donate. If I only had a million dollars... my only gripe is with psychiatry, there is no cross over/middle man communication between psych doctors or case managers. I’ve been getting treatment here and off for a year. The communication can be off a bit however it’s not the end of the world. I like the many options they have for treatment. If something doesn’t work out then I can try another. The Tele health visits is a plus for me too. I have zero complaints. I signed up a few weeks ago and the intake staff was professional and polite, but the specific care team I was assigned has been truly exceptional. My psychiatrist, Dr. Silke Tylor, is fantastic. I was out of ADHD medication during the holidays and she recognized the urgency immediately. She squeezed me in for an in-person visit within three days instead of making me wait two weeks. She conducted a comprehensive assessment and expedited screening so I could pick up my prescription the same day. She is a patient listener who truly cares. Later, when I needed a CDL medical letter urgently, she wrote it within an hour of my check-up so I could meet my deadline. My case manager, Alex Lacoste, has also been outstanding. He is always on top of everything and responds to calls or texts immediately with a great attitude. When there was a pharmacy mix-up, he coordinated with Dr. Tylor to resolve it within minutes. He also ensured the CDL letter was emailed to me the moment it was ready. I also want to thank Marcos Orr for the individual therapy. We had a video session that lasted over an hour and a half. He was amazing. He is incredibly understanding, passionate, and showed great empathy and patience. He really listened and understood my situation deeply. I had to be diligent to find the right doctor. God led me to Dr. Duren Gutierrez who without a doubt saved my life. He was so kind - and thorough. He's amazing!! Dreams Unlimited was also the best!! I came in as a complicated emergency detox patient with severe underlying auto immune disease and AFIB. Am well known among the medical practitioner groups as a unique medical anomaly from the various health conditions i suffer from ontop of a severe chronic opioid dependacy. Safe to say I'm very seasoned with medical lingo, treatment plans/strategies, the struggles of new patients and many other patient woes. So, I, as the patient came overwhelmingly prepared with meticulously documented list of my systems, substances I suffer from and anything else to help the team. Tiffani was my first point of contact. What a total sweetheart and professional. Absolutely love how she gets down to business on your care without time being wasted. Being in the severe medical state I was in, my intake was very quick, smooth and within minutes was on a tele health call with Dr Nick-this is where things really took off for me. First and foremost, Dr Nick might just be one of my all time favorite practitioners out of the 40yrs+ experience with medical staff due to his impeccable listening, understanding, level of care, and the overall efforts to genuinely offer patients relief of their nightmares. Truly owe my life to this God send as he literally saved me while in the middle of a severe reaction shortly after my first ever dose. Mind you, my case is very complicated, aggressive and being unique. I've found that being forthcoming transparency in the purest way is what will save your life. It's the only method I take due to the constant hurdles and obstacles I face during treatment plans. Wholeheartedly believe, can firmly say that had I of been at any other clinic outside of CMS, my life would have been lost. Dr Nick's heroism was among a top highlight in life for me and will be something to remember for as long as I life. My genuine thanks to a fantastic person who really not only loves helping patients but enjoys medicine. This is a rare and epic experience! In closing, the staff, service facilities and overall care here are nothing short of extraordinary. This shop and the angels who show up daily truly have a gift of not only helping people but are miracle workers for those at the end of their rope. The majority of the employees there care about the residents. It's clean, they make sure your withdrawals are not too bad. When u 1st arrived you will be in detox 3 days or so then go over to the residents side for 29 days. The rooms have 2 to 3 people in it with its own shower/bath. Breakfast is 7, lunch 11, dinner 4 and a snack at 8. If you're too sick to go to the dining area they will bring it to your room. Mondays and Tuesday are your long days you're in meetings from 9am to 10pm. Group meetings are mandatory every day 9-11. Church is on Sunday and Bible Study on Wednesday. They will help u get on your feet so u can survive when u get out. Oh and the men monitors are cute too, i know one resident who has started messing around with one recently. But the majority of them are not like that. It's a spiritually grounded place where God is first. Oh and you get to keep your phone and smoke whenever you want to. Let's see what else , Oh the food is good now it wasn't when I 1st got there but we complained about it at our weekly meeting and it has improved, a lot! As far as I'm concerned it's one of the best around, but I've only been to one other Christian guidance center, i caught COVID there. I was only there for 2 weeks but they never took my vitals when I was there. And Harbor Light checks them every 4 hours when you're in detox. And once you have completed everything you will get a certificate and a coin. Oh and u have to drop weekly, Oh and they also have a medical mobile unit that comes every Thursday iu need blood work or whatever done. I only stayed 3 days due to the fact that I need weeks to come off my Suboxone that I have been on for near 6 years now and to get off of kratom and 7oh (kratom is NOT the same as 7oh just so u know,... 7oh is extracted from kratom and synthesized to make 7oh so it's extremely potent) I wanted to walk out of that place completely off everything but the intake Nurse/P.A. and I argued over my impulsiveness for stopping my Suboxone yet once she explained the weendown process I accepted it, it's not possible how I wanted to do it and she reminded me to slow down and realize my impulsiveness..3 months minimum of slowly lowering my dose to getting shots and then after about 3months I could be free, so i decided to stay to get thru my withdrawals from kratom and 7oh (withdrawals very intense yet short lived) the detox psychologist, I believe his name was Ray, made me realize so much about myself in our 2 short encounters that changed my thoughts and thinking as well as my understanding of myself drastically for the better. He's an ol'school cat, war vet, grandfather and his general aura and vibe was genuine and real. And the fact that he was so natural was a relief. All the detox nurses were great...except 1. She had shoulder length blonde hair and treated us like inmates rather than people who self-committed themselves to their facility. I won't go to deep cuz it isn't that deep but nurses like her and her judgement and condescending tone when speaking AT u not WITH u will be the cause of ppl leaving AMA. We enter a program vulnerable and she make u feel like dog shit on the bottom of her shoe SMH yet there was a male nurse with glasses and shoulder length light hair (not really blonde tho) and I believe he wore glasses, was so AMAZING. He introduced himself, came out to our smoking area and conversated with us (briefly) as the people we are. He showed kindness and care where that 1 woman nurse neglected to treat us as and for that I appreciate you even tho I don't remember his name. I've been home just over a week now and have not run back to my kratom/7oh addiction...my appointment is coming up in October to start my process of getting off my Suboxone properly. Now as for the intake process, yes it's a lil cold and rough, you have got to understand they are the 1st contact point for those coming into treatment. They see EVERYTHING, Who goes to detox sober/straight...I have yet to see that in my on and off recovery from 2000-2026, so they are getting the absolute worst of our selves when arriving. They must be stern and thorough in the start. Like no nonsense. I wasn't greeted with smiles and faith and I didn't arrive with smiles and faith such as that so I'm not mad and nobody attitude could stop me from wanting it... Take what applies to you and ur life and forget the rest. I would recommend this place to others. ( If u are going in prepare urself, read their list of approved items, and/or call the office and ask if you're curious if you can bring something that isn't on that list and what kind of packaging or even ingredients are restricted). And say this because I didn't get my deodorant and the only makeup I got that I brought was my liquid foundation but who tf am I truly trying to impress with my looks while detoxing LOL no biggie. It was battle that I chose not to fight...my zest bar soap worked just fine and deodorant. I love the staff at AWBS because they genuinely care about the wellbeing of not only the consumers they serve, but the consumers' family members as well. The transportation service is excellent. I no longer have to worry about struggling to get my brother to the program on time, get to my job on time, and having to leave my job to pick him up. AWBS transportation now picks up my brother from home, and drop him back off home right at the door. We love it! My brother now has a new social outlet, and a great weight is lifted off of me.
