I just got home from this place and it was truly a good experience. I highly recommend it to anyone who's serious about getting off drugs. They have a great staff and it's so deep in the woods noone really thinks of leaving. They take you fishing down at the swamp. It is coed. You get to order your food from a grocery store and cook it yourself, so you're basically living with some forms of independence even though you're in treatment. I looked at my two week stay like a summer vacation. Thank you guys for having me.

Pine Grove Behavioral Health and Addiction Services in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, is a nationally renowned addiction treatment center that provides comprehensive mental health and substance abuse programs. What sets Pine Grove apart from other treatment centers is their multidimensional disease model approach to care, which gets to the root of subst | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I am changing a review I made previously because of a recent experience
Tl;dr this is better than last time I was there.
Pine Grove is a short term facility. Their aim is to diagnose and treat you in a short window of time , often 3 to 5 days. I want everyone who stumbles on this review to realize this.
The staff are not monsters like some will make you believe. They have rules and are often overworked. Some have these dreaded or guarded expressions. But If you are on the open unit in the adult PICU, look across their station at the closed side and you immediately will get the picture. Thats their lives, day to day, dealing with angry and confused people suffering from psychosis. They are not ignoring you. They are busy and are short staffed. Even with the absolute grumpiest of them, you say the right thing- you will get a smile or a laugh. Some come in there with paranoid thoughts and think the staff is gunna mess them up with medication or that the staff absolutely does not care about your existence. Realize this: this isnt the Beau Rivage you are staying at, this is the nut house. Someone would get onto me for saying that, but thats the truth. We all need help sometimes and I am of the mindset that we can all show a little humility to that fact.
So these are my criticisms.
There are some quality of life issues with amenities on the open unit. For what you are being billed, some small things like sound proofing would go a long way. Yes the nurses should be vigilant with patients but even then, the staff could be more coordinated.
My biggest gripe is a recent descision to check up on patients every 15 minutes after they go to bed. Doors opening and closing and people coming into my room at night is a trigger for me. It caused me to get little sleep and I would have nightmares. One night I even acidentally screamed out "GD it." I am a pretty pacifist person but that is over the line. Whom ever made this descision, you cannot do that to people. You have cameras in our rooms, you have the ability to watch us and keep us safe from our worst enemy, ourselves. You need to respect peoples privacy just a small amount. Even people there that need to be monitored. Even incidents, like the one that happened when I was there last (people gossip, it was stopped fyi), can be prevented if your staff are better supported with numbers. I dont know the finances of the place but I infer that you can add a little more in terms of the night shift. You dont need more doctors or nurses, just eyes to watch out.
That brings me to my final criticism: your staff NEEDS more support. Even the day shift can be short staffed. That will not be fixed by a change in policy or an hour of quiet time. I am not a doctor but as a patient, I believe peoples faith in mental health in this state would change if the staff's hands were more free. ESPECIALLY the pharmacy.
I am not stating this out of general malice, I want to point that out. I love the staff here and they helped me through probably the worst time in my life. They work with us at our absolute worst, and I am grateful for that. Pine Grove is the only place in Mississippi that is worth going to, all the others SUCK. I just want mental health treatment in this state to improve and I really hope my words dont fall on deaf ears with this review. Thank you for your time.

Incredible Spiritual Boot Camp - In the Best Way!
Wow! If you're serious about getting right with God and yourself, Home of Grace is the place. They say it's like "3 years of church in 90 days," and they aren't kidding! The intensity of the spiritual teachings, the quality of the classes, and the dedication of the teachers and preachers are unparalleled. I learned so much about faith, forgiveness, and God's grace. The beautiful grounds provided a tranquil space for prayer and contemplation, which was so important for my journey. For what they offer – a complete spiritual and personal overhaul – the cost is unbelievably reasonable. My heart is full, and my relationship with the Lord has never been stronger

I work construction out of town a lot,so I've been to a few dozen clinics from Philadelphia PA to Jacksonville FL. By far this facility is 10 times more professional, quick responses for whatever reasons. Cleanest facility, friendliest, caring staff I've dealt with. If you've ever had to guest dose before,it can be a nightmare!! Maybe you didn't have any problems, but I have with other clinics. Not this one! They'll make sure you get the best help possible. I would never go anywhere else.WARNING! If you're not serious about sobriety then you may prefer the other dumps. Still give them a call! They saved my life!! I would love to see more of your bhg facilities in the Mississippi area and maybe have a federal guideline on amount of your dosage for guest dosing because I have been places where there was no problem but I've been to several states like Tennessee and I was taking more than their maximum level and I had to wait 2 weeks for a state approval. Of course I was working and it being 6 hours from my hometown I had to go home one day a week until they got it straight. I wouldn't have waited for 2 days in the waitroom thinking everything was going to be fine if someone would have told me or like I said every state be on the same thing or ar least respect the other states that aren't at the same dosage levels. We still have problems and are paying patients for treatment and I was furious after working 2 nights without and set there from 6 until 12 and then be told come back in the morning maybe we will be heard back from them. Communication is really what needs to be done between the states and the different companies policies.

I initially gave this clinic a bad review. I was sick and couldn't get seen. However, once I got through the initial screening (this appointment takes some time). I found them to be extremely competent. And they care. They are a small clinic with few people and limited resources. But, they are VERY thorough. Be patient, they are under the control of VAMC Jackson. We all know how bad Jackson VA is (except our useless congressmen and senators, I suppose).
My advice is as follows:
1. Get a clinic appointment. Try to get Dr. Bowling. She will get to the bottom of any medical problem. This lady is tenacious when it comes to her vets!
2.Sign up for myhealthevet. Once you make an account, upgrade to the premium account. It will say you have to send in a form for the premium account. Just call the 800 number and have the service person upgrade it for you. They're very helpful. This will allow you to order health records, check prescriptions, communicate with you're health team. In other words bypass the VA bureaucracy.
Sorry for the long post. Hope it helps.
August 2023 update.
They've run off ALL their doctors! Go to VAMC Biloxi instead.

I was there. I was in a place in my life where I could not continue on the path that I was taking. The counselors helped me work through the things within me that chained me to a way of life that was really no life at all. It was more of a way of death. That was five years ago. I am still sober. That facility helped me help myself. I am grateful. If you are reading this then you or someone you care about is in a bad place in their life. I know the feeling of crushing desperation. Go. Go and follow the program. Like you, I felt like AA was a bit culty. Trust me, man, it isn't. About 2 years ago the clinic I was attending was shutting down. So I decided to transfer to BHG Grand Bay facility. I was very concerned about if I would remain at my current level within the program because I've never transferred before. This facility was amazing and making it swift and easy, and told me I would not have to start over and could continue with where I left off at the previous clinic. I was worried about coming here due to the mixed reviews I have read and heard about this place, but am glad I came here instead of the other options.
I live an hour away, and staff is very understanding and hears me out when needed. They try and make sure everyone is treated equally and in and out as quick as possible. Hiccups do happen, but all in all it's a great place, and new positive changes are happening.
Carly the new Director is awesome, and very involved to ensure everyone is heard and knows she/they care. The nurses and pharmacist are great and Ingrid the front desk receptionist is on point. I can't speak for everyone, but as for me, my experience has been great, the staff treats me with respect and listens to any concerns, very laid back, but not to be mistaken that they are about their business and following the rules. As long as you do your part, they will do theirs to help. I would Definitely recommend this place if you are looking to start your recovery journey.
Big thanks and shout out to all the Staff at BHG Grand Bay, thanks for your dedication and all that you do to help make my life better!

Hi April can you please pass this along we the people of Altapointe watch other workers come and go they leave for various reasons some of the main reasons that we hear from them is its not enough pay and they just can't get with a 37.5 work week. For all of us who continue to stay because we love the company we love what we do. Even when people in the community try to talk bad about the company as well as you see a lot of the bashing on public forums. You have a lot of dedicated employees that take up for the company all we're asking is for a 40-hour work week instead of the outdated 37.5 times are hard for alot of people and for those who may not experience hard times and dont understand how a difference this can make for some God Bless You. Ok, so after almost two years with Dr. Sinclair I feel like I can give an honest review of my experience so far.
SO, as far as Sinclair goes, there is no one better in my opinion. He is caring, respectful and educated. He is the type of person you walk away from and the rest of your day is a little brighter.
However, the office staff? Oh lawd hammercy. It's a hot mess express. No one knows what's going on. Seems like no calls to the nurse line is documented, ever. I needed to be in his refill clinic and the nurse made me an appointment but for two months out and reassured me that I would be able to get refills even though my appointment was two months away. Found out that she made me an appointment with someone else (whom I've never seen) instead of Sinclair AFTER I requested refills through my pharmacy and got a call from the nurse saying that I couldn't because it was time to make an appointment. I told her I was scheduled and she told me it was with someone else so magically, she got me in the very next day with Sinclair for the refill clinic. Phew, that's just my recent experience with the staff. Lol
Anyway, I highly recommend Sinclair and I'll follow him anywhere he goes. My quality of life has just overall been better since he has been my doctor. I have switched medications soooooo many times to find the right med combo and he has been there in the trenches with me through it all. 11/10 stars!

They had a routine and support that let me get my head clear and focus on actually getting better. The staff was down to earth and really cared. The place could use a few updates and this was all a few years ago but it was clean and the help they gave was solid. I’m thankful for how they helped me take steps forward and helped me get some structure at a turning point in my early years

I know most folks don’t really leave reviews unless they are upset about something or frustrated with their situation and I’m not sure how things have changed since I was there but I feel I need to give my experience as a patient in 2009-2010. As a child I was faced with neglect, abandonment, molestation, homelessness, mental illnesses, family hardships amongst a long list of other issues involving hoarding. I came to Baypoint after have tried to and almost successfully, kill myself. The state of Alabama took me into their care and placed me here to get my mental in order. I rejected every ounce of help they had to offer and honestly was little prick while I was there. I joined in willingly to fights to impress other kids and act out because I was refusing to listen to my therapist dr. Rene. With this amount of attitude I was placed in seclusion (as I should be!) to think about my actions. Yes I was physically restrained but in their defense I was swinging on everyone and everything. They were protecting themselves and I completely understand this now. As teenagers we all have a couple things in common and that is that we hate the body we are in and we lash out on everyone around us. Add in a few mental illnesses and you have a dangerous situation. The folks at this facility during my time tried their best to teach me how to channel my emotions and I brushed them off with feelings that they didn’t know how I felt and nothing they could do can help. Know that I’m 30 I can think back to every lesson I ever had and use the tools they instilled so long ago. Now as i think about the children that were in the wwasp programs, bay pointe was an excellent facility! They taught me how to wash my own clothes and keep a schedule. We would get allowances that we could use at the vending machine and when we went on our outings. Going out to the pond and seeing the turtles really made my day! When I expressed the therapeutic need to see the stars, the counselors found a time to allow those of us who wished to see them a few minutes outside at night once a week to give us this. We had rec time and I see that they have ankle monitors now which can make this more of a possibility. So many of us tried to run away and some accomplished this because we all refuse help when we have to give up things in order to be help. Then we think we are abused because we can’t have our way. Bay pointe provides recreation, 3 very tasty meals a day, adequate bedding and supervision with an appropriate amount of discipline. Just like in high school, the teachers can only do so much about bullying. It’s up to you as an individual to walk away and ignore it. You can’t avoid this even in work settings as adults. My overall review of this place is when we are kids everyone is out to get us but just like with playing a sport, if you don’t practice everyday, you get worse. Utilize every minute of this program and be there for you not friends. I know how hard it is as I was there for over a year but that was my fault for making it longer and continuing to be a prick. Be determined and this place can be very healing if you let it. Using the business education program they had I’ve used what I’ve learned there and am currently a proud business owner. As the parents of children who are in this system, be involved as much as you can! You can’t expect change if you do not change yourself. Accept that you are going to have to alter your way of life for your children even more than most and call out to family and friends who can also support you and your kid. This program takes a while to sink in but if you let it, it will open your eyes and help you see the small tweaks it made to help you be a better person and control your emotions. Thank you baypointe and I’m sorry for punching a hole straight through to the break room on the teen girls side!

I was a patient here, and Summer is a really good therapist! And Dr. Hamilton helped me with my medication. This place really got my mental health back on track, and your children who need help with their mental stability would definitely benefit from going here!

My Son came back to us a Responsible, Christian Man. Able to stand on his own and pay his own bills for the first time in Many years. I Truly Know With All My Heart That AA&TC Saved My Son's Life! I will be eternally grateful for all the hard work they invested in my Son. I know he is in God's hands and I know he is a Christian. Everything about him changed for the better. Money could not buy the Blessings we have received or the life that was Saved! It was hard for us all to let go and let God, but that is exactly what had to happen to save my son's life. AA&TC knew exactly what he needed and what we needed as his family. If your son needs saving and you have realized that You can't save him. Call AA&TC because they can help him have a New Life! Promise. Thank You Bay Minette, AA&TC, and Pastor Kieth for the Miracle you gave us!

I just want to say that God and this program saved my sons life. He was headed down a very dark path of addiction and depression. I have prayed for YEARS for him to be free of his addiction. But I wasn’t giving God enough credit, so that’s when He showed me how big and strong He is. Not only did He help my son break free from his addictions, He saved him. My son now has a personal relationship with God. Prior to this my son even told me he wasn’t sure there WAS a God. He has now completed his year there, and not only did he get saved and baptized (his choice...not a requirement or demand) he has chosen to stay and become an intern to help others with the same issues. He has done some public speaking, giving his testimony (which is amazing considering the things he did...also amazing he lived through it). I always told him that God had plans for him bigger than he could imagine. I’m here to tell you PRAYERS WORK! But I only prayed for his freedom from addictions. Not only did God do that, he went a step further and convicted him of listening to degrading rap music and gave him a voice to use to tell of His mercy that is freely given for all of us. He feels led to help others in similar situations. Praise and Glory to Him!! No, this is not “forced religion” as the previous review suggested. This is a program that tells you that God loves each and every one of us the same and wants us to come to the altar and ask for His help. He loves us so much that He gave His Only begotten son to save each and every one of us. I thank God for this wonderful program!! Instead of celebrating my sons graduation and promotion to internship, I could easily have been burying him had it not been for this program and Gods mercy.
