I love this doctor's office!! I have rarely had a problem with getting an appointment, even with the pandemic (using tele-health). Dr.Irby, and all of the staff listen to you. They always answer my questions, and if they don't know what is going on with you, they will refer you to someone who will find out. If you have a medical need, and you want a no nonsense, straight answer, go to this clinic!!

This season has been hard with illness, and all of the doctors are booked for days. My 5yo is non-verbal autistic, and we can't wait in a waiting room, hoping to be squeezed in. I called Hamilton Medical Clinic and spoke to Kim. She was so kind and helpful. Instead of pushing us off, she made a few calls and got us set up with a telehealth visit. Such great service.
Obviously they were slammed with in-person and telehealth calls. When I met with the Nurse Practitioner, Caring, she was very kind and informative. She wasn't trying to speed through the call and listened to my concerns and gave advice needed.
Great experience all-around (as great as one can be for a sick kiddo anyways) ☺️

To anyone reading this who is thinking about checking themselves in for mental health purposes, or maybe you’re on the way there and wondering what to expect:
You will get better here. There are so many people here who genuinely want to help. The night staff especially is really amazing and will make you smile. Stick it out through the food and water which are both very gross. (Ask for flavor packets for the water and you’ll be just fine.) It’s worth it.
I really wish this place had clocks, though. A lot of patients, myself included were even more anxious that we never knew what time it was and were always asking everyone else.
I hated the food so much because it was worse than dog food but hopefully you can find something you like. Because it really is worth it. Especially if you meet Richie, Phil, Lori, Dr. Perry and the therapists. Also Greta the doggy.

So easy to get in and out. Dr Cater was so easy to talk to and she listened to your questions. She helped me out a lot with the different issues what I was having.

Don’t really understand the low rating of this rehab. The only person willing to change has to be yourself. The only outcomes of this is rehab is SOBRIETY, DEATH OR LASTLY PRISON. They genuinely care about your being and I’m glad that God placed me in the care of these people. I wish nothing but the best for EVERYONE that comes through here but you HAVE to do it for yourself.
You have family, friends that care deeply about you and you can better yourself with the personal time you get to yourself. Look for something to believe in because you can not only make a difference in not only yourself but for your children and the people who surround you and love you.

As a fellow mental health therapist, I recently had the distinct privilege of touring this Embark Behavioral Health campus, and I was genuinely impressed by what I saw and learned. My visit included an in-depth look at the residential hall, the impressive indoor gym, and the welcoming dining area, giving me a comprehensive understanding of their program and facilities. From the moment I stepped onto the campus, it was clear that Embark places a high priority on creating a well-maintained and therapeutic environment. The grounds were immaculate, and the buildings themselves gave a sense of calm and care, which is so crucial for individuals in residential treatment. The residential hall felt genuinely comfortable and safe, with spaces designed to promote both individual reflection and community building. The indoor gym was particularly noteworthy. It's clear they understand the vital role physical activity plays in mental well-being, and having such a well-equipped, accessible space indoors is a significant asset, especially during inclement weather. The dining area was also inviting, suggesting that mealtimes are viewed not just as sustenance, but as opportunities for connection and routine. Beyond the physical space, what truly stood out was the professionalism and knowledge of the staff I encountered. Everyone I met was incredibly nice, welcoming, and clearly dedicated to their roles. Activities were good, I would like to have 2 family sessions. Just found that in day 2 we were able to open more and would have liked more family therapy. Food was great. Emotional couple of days which is exhausting, thank you staff.

I've had 95% amazing visits but the ER visit was not very helpful. I'm still losing weight and weak in muscles hasn't gotten better. When I got home from that visit I hit grown from struggling to lift my left leg and landed on my face. I'm scared of what these blood pressure meds and cholesterol meds have done to me. I can hardly get groceries and get them in the house. It's just weird that I was doing fine tell I started going to St. Joseph VA. I just don't want to die. I've never been more stressed 😢

I was here from January-2025 to August-2025, honestly it was a good experience, alot of things happend to me that were out of the staffs and in bosses power, as in other clients behavior and such, but unfortunately I did get harrased and assulted by other clients but when i stated that, action was taken immediately, they would separate the client from the other(s), and even though it may have not been far, it was better then being traumatized, these "bad" reviews have too of been caused by bad past staff or a lying child, and I was there as I was 14, I was first on the unit champions& Defenders, but maybe 1 week after, my group switched units with champions (Our sister unit) and we got renamed, but as i stayed kids came, and kids went, but I had a good experience overall, and the meals are okay, I feel like the portions should be increased a little for each unit depending on age group, everyone got the same amount, but alot of kids there would do about anything for extras, even in small amounts, I was one of them sometime but it was always 50/50 whenever I ate, I feel as bedtime is WAY too early for 13+ as its 7:00PM for bedtime, as it is healthy but it was extremely hard for me too get up in the mornings because of the time, the beds are really low on the floor if ur in building 3[unless it has been renovated by now] and in building 7, the beds are a normal height,

I was a client At TLC for at least six months and then discharged honestly for me I had a great time I have no idea these parents are talking about the one in the first photo I was there for that kid the only reason why her therapist told her no for the headphones was because they were working on headphones and then when they got unit headphones she refused to use them for the second one a hold is mandatory you cannot blame the staff they're just doing their job and if your child wouldn't have struggled then she wouldn't have so many bruises apologise but I was here for both of these kids both of these kids were in the wrong during their stay because the one that got into the hold tried to fight a staff so of course the staff has to put them in a hold because that's physical aggression and then as soon as the staff tries to put them in the hold she struggles which causes them to hold her tighter and make them stay longer the more she moves the tighter they get the girl that got bullied because of her autism she did not get bullied because of her autism she got bullied because she would cuss people out she would cuss therapist out obviously I had the same therapist so I can put this on put in that therapist was like the best therapist in the world like I have him again before that therapist left he spoke so many good things about your daughter he spoke good about your daughter even though she did so many bad things to him I'm not saying “this is the kids fault” because basically if I'm saying that I would be telling myself that same thing I'm saying that didn't help your kid and that was your objective go to another place I've been to 2 places TLC and pathways send them to another place if they don't do good especially kids in foster care the caseworker is obviously going to send them to another place if they're not doing better after discharge please this place is done so many good things for me I literally struggled in the beginning I got in so many holds in the beginning so many runways in the beginning as time progressed I got better and they finally let me out and I wasn't in a hold for like 3 months

I used to go here when i was 13/14... and for everyone who has had a bad experience placeing there child here just know as for every place it has its good and bad times. I was forchinat enough to be placed here when it had a good staff systume shout out to ,Michaelis, Doug dear, Melissa, mr Tiny, mark and meany more. I also made a tone of friends who i still keep up with to this day aswell. I had the chance learn alot about myself and my problems and left a better kid who was confident and well more behaved and I still use what I learned there to this day and I'm 30. I'm unsure how the place is doing almost 20 years later or who is working there but this place randomly popped up in my my head and i just felt the need to look it up and leave a review. Salvation Army when I went homeless after the military I didn’t know they had services for veterans like this. The KCVA helped to get into the Salvation Army. I had to stay here due to indifferences at my house. My stay was comfortable and peaceful. The other Veterans are kind. My case worker Irene was very hard on me at first lol! After I was admitted in she was kind and loved all of us. Integration was easy. Irene will help you get more % to help in your case. She is there for you. Use her and let her know how you feel. She has been working there for 15 years (KC,Kansas). What an accomplishment. There are others that work with Irene that are just as important to you.
You have to do chores but they aren’t large duties. Roger will be on you. It’s good to clean your surroundings makes you feel good.
Breakfast isn’t the greatest but, that will change. Yvette serves breakfast she has to have thick skin because she didn’t make the food. She has no control on what is being served. Be nice to her always and your days will go better. Lunch and Dinner are more filling. Blake is one of the cooks trying to make new desserts and new meals. There is a “suggestion box” downstairs so fill it out. They have snack later on in the night. I met Tom from Salvation Army very stand up person he is kind and cordial. They have a gym for basketball and a small workout room.
The Veterans I met are my forever brothers. I will stay in touch after I leave. Thank you Salvation Army for helping me find my way.

Words are so inadequate to express the level of gratitude that I have for Taylor and the staff at MRC. Prior to meeting Taylor, I felt terrified and helpless not knowing how to help my daughter. Taylor not only took the time to speak with me and explain the need for a recovery program for her, but he came to the hospital and spoke with her personally. Sharing his story with her and his words of encouragement helped to convince her that she needed a recovery program to overcome an alcohol dependency. Taylor and MRC quite literally saved my daughter's life. For that, I am eternally grateful.

The front reception desk team is friendly , attentive and helpful. I have never felt so seen , welcomed and accepted. The NP I saw was so down to earth and understanding. My therapist was genuine and I truly felt heard. After a horrible experience with another facility with Burrell I came here, and I’m so glad I did. Courtney , Hannah and Tanner are all amazing team members here. I’m very sad to be moving again, and leaving their care. But I won’t forget the kindness and generosity I experienced here. Thank you all so much for what you do. I wish I could send everyone here.
So warm , welcoming and inviting. Snacks , water and charging stations and vending machines in the lobby really make a difference for people who are waiting on rides or waiting in between appointments. I can’t say enough good things. Thanks again y’all.

Finally getting around to sharing but I'm extremely grateful for this place. I'm coming up on 2 years clean from opiates. It was my first ever time in treatment and it stuck.
Very well. They set you up to be successful afterwards with doctors appointments and IOP so even though I haven't had much contact with GB themselves since, I've still was able to maintain treatment.
Food was AMAZING. I had my own 1-bdr apartment with a kitchenette. The therapy was constant so it kept you busy. All the people were nice and they really seemed to care about what they were doing and being there. The pool table and cereal bar were great amenities too.
My only complaint is that I left with a vitamin D deficiency, but it was wintertime in KS so we just couldn't do many outings.

Have been using the Paola VA Clinic for 2 years now. Very professional and friendly staff who always make you feel welcome and care about your health care needs.
Appointments are easy to get and they value your time.
Before retirement from a local government I had an excellent Blue Cross health plan that was actually the most expensive available for our city employees - my treatment, care and experience with both the Paola VA Clinic and the main VA hospital in KC have exceeded my Blue Cross plan in every way.
I know all we hear about are the horror stories about the VA in various areas around the country but I can't imagine better treatment or care anywhere!

I have had a family member addicted to fentanyl for years. I have taken them to many places only to be sent away with a script of suboxone. This DID NOT WORK. it was only abused. Then I made the phone call that is saving my sons life and he wad on detox within 4 hours of that call. 5 days later he entered their 90 day program and is doing great. This amazing caring staff IS the difference at heartland. This is an underrated community resource in independence and Jackson county. It's not the abundance of resources, or judgements free environment of learning the art of new patterns and behaviors as tools to combat a variety of epidemics that affect every family. It is the HUMAN compassion, patience, counseling and tools for accountability. This place is a lifeline for those who have and have not other options or resources. Walk in and ask for help. It's that easy. First step.

I have worked with this organization and have several contacts enroll and receive services here. They are one of the best around if you are struggling with alcohol or substance use disorder. Very compassionate and genuinely want to help those that are wanting and needing to make positive changes in their lives. BECKY PELLEHAM IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST. MAKE SURE YOU ASK TO MEET HER WHEN YOU ARE ON SITE. SHE IS EXTREMELY RESOURCEFUL, AND IF SHE SEES THAT YOU ARE TAKING YOUR RECOVERY SERIOUS AND TRYING TO BETTER YOUR LIFE THEN THE SKYS THE LIMIT AS FAR AS WHAT SHE CAN DO FOR YOU.
