My experience at Steps to Recovery has been great for the most part, the people and the environment are very welcoming and comforting. I have had some issues that have come up, but they usually get resolved. My only main gripe is with some of the other clients at the community living house fail to clean up after themselves, and some do not know self control. But, the staff here is very professional and easy to talk to. I find that the opportunities here for my recovery journey are pretty good, although I'd like access to more holistic therapy resources. I've actually personally facilitated a Dharma meeting and will facilitate more in the future. I appreciate my time here at STR and am excited for the future with them.

The great outweigh the frustrations.
The staff in the building are capable, competent, compassionate, patient, and truly wonderful! They helped me unlock so much in my recovery, and I left my 30 day treatment feeling like a truly new man. I feel like Im a version of myself that I didn’t know existed. I have such supreme admiration for the boots on the ground: Marguerite, Kelly, Sheets, and Jeff, to the case managers (shoutout Maggie), to the group leaders like Betty, Scott, Nick, Donald, Kevin, Rob, Ben, to the nursing and RSS staff, the cleaning staff, and kitchen staff. They all contributed in saving my life.
The frustrations stem from the negligence at the top levels of this company. There were several situations, and altercations that put the patients hygeine, safety, and ultimately, sobriety in jeopardy due to extreme budget cuts. The “interim ceo” peacocks around the hallways, and when directly adressed by patients with issues about patients concerns, he smugly passes the buck and ignores said issues. If it werent for these frustrations, this place could be the gold standard for recovery.
For these reasons, I give the staff a 9 out of 5, and the pencil pushers a resounding 0 out of 5.

Through my recovery journey I have been to a number of treatment programs and facilities both php/iop-residential and have done well at most of them, but Footprints stands out as one of my favorites, by far, and the one I have made the most growth and progress at. I came in with a positive mindset, open to any and everything they had to offer and was able to really take advantage of it all. One thing I am most grateful for is the environment and community that grew my positive energy. Everyone from my APN, Dee, my therapist, Michael who I have learned so much from. Jose, my case manager who has always went above and beyond to facilitate any other needs I had. And for Melvin who always was a leader and ready with a smile and positivity. I always felt comfortable and connected. It was always easy for everyone and myself yo be able to engage in group settings and that is a credit to the vibe and energy of each one of the therapists who ran each session. I couldn't be more grateful for all the kindness love and support that was given to me during my treatment. It wasn't easy, but I definitely put in the work and faced hard truths about myself. I learned that I had to become willing to be uncomfortable in order to heal. It takes becoming so uncomfortable with yourself, that you finally see your defects and become willing to change!! Of course every place has their flaws, however I've never met a staff that truly cared so much for the patients. This isn't a job to them its a way of life. From the techs, to clincial staff, therapist and the higher ups. Nothing during my time there fell on deaf ears. Id advise anyone coming to treatment there to swallow your pride and be open and listen. A brief background of myself, im very opinionated and strong willed so of course I knew everything or at least I thought I did. The staff here really did everything they could to reassure me over and over that I can get better. I just needed to get out of my own way. They were 100% correct. The techs always made me feel like this wasn't a house it was my home. People like Andy, Melanie, Leigh Ann, Amethyst, Jose, Stan and of course my OG Allison have always shown me that mine and my fellow housemates best interest was always top priority. Their stories and generosity is truly inspiring. I never felt judged or unwelcome They really care about each and everyone of us. They may be on the ground floor regarding job titles but they definitely are the foundation that keeps this facitly standing. The clinical staff such as Max, Morgan, Curtis, Michelle, MK, their doors are always open when needed. Whether they're running groups or plugging away in their offices they are always willing to stop and listen in the time of need. They too along with the techs are going to be your biggest cheerleaders towards a better life a sober life. While you will notice vast differences in some of their approaches PLEASE keep your ears open because they all reached me in different ways even though I didn't see the value they offered right away. Collectively, its a excellent group to learn from. While my time with Alex a therapist was limited it was very insightful and gave me a different way to see things that definitely resignated with me. As for my personal therapist Jackie, she was amazing. Her door was always open whether it was to pop in an say hi when I needed to vent or just shoot the breeze. Our sessions together allowed me to open up to a point I never had before. Even during her groups she may come off fun and playful, but there is a method to everything. Last but certainly not least, listen to your peers in those rooms. They come from all different backgrounds, gender, race age etc. They offer true wisdom and real life experiences. I personally never met a sober addict that didn't light up a room. These people will teach you more than you could imagine if youre willing to listen and do the work. Ill leave you with this, all of the above comes from someone who has been to 2 detox, 3 other rehabs, never lasting more than 6 total days. Banyan and their staff and clients made me feel at home while I battled through and not for a second did I ever feel alone while I was there. My goal now is to get my life back and whether it happens or not is upto me and me alone but Banyan gave me the tools I need to have a fighting chance, so thank you.

I went here a few years ago for help. I got help in the form of the staff trying to use fear and intimidation to "scare you straight." Every Tuesday is clinical day, if your name is called at the end, you got reamed out for some things that were at the most, annoying, that the main counselor, Helen aka Satan, did not like. If you have a family that is successful and you happen to be an addict, don't associate with this place. She (Helen, especially) has it out for any woman who has had more opportunities than her. She is verbally and mentally abusive. The director Jan does nothing about it. They used to be United Way, but I'm sure after Numerous complaints they had to find different funding.
Helen also heads the family counseling session, where she accomplishes absolutely nothing except for a tearful goodbye when they leave. She bashes each family member and goes into things highly inappropriate. Highly inappropriate. I cannot stress this enough.
This place also forces each woman to sign up for Medicaid. I had private insurance when I went, but was forced to sign up for Medicaid and Food stamps???? They take your food stamps, decide what doctors you can and can't see, force you to go to "their" OBGYN. They also have a history of bed bugs, so get ready to have ALL your things thrown and shrunk in their dryer by Marie! (one of the somewhat decent RA's)
When you get a job, they take your pay checks, if you are caught holding even a little money - you're out the door!
They will keep you there right before six months and then throw you out, if not- be ready to go stay at one of their sober houses. If you are honest with them about anything, it makes things worse. What type of place makes someone trying to recover addiction issues feel like lying is their best option when faced with a question? Anderson House does! They have a VERY high turnover rate and that's because they get paid every time a new girl comes in! Turning Point now gets a kickback from them.
If you love your mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, etc... Do her a favor and if you have to send her to a state funded place... Send her to Crawford House, where they have a mentally stable staff.
I was "thrown out (literally)" of Anderson house because I had computers at my job. Literally, that is the reason. They want you to not be able to contact the outside world. if you are presentable enough to get a normal job while there, DO IT.... If not, you'll end up at Bakers Treat, cooking pastries all day with the girls you see 24/7. They spy on one another and use ammo against one another. It's nice to not work with anyone from he house, it allows you to feel like a "normal" person who doesn't have to return to a house where they have anxiety through the roof every night.
Another thing, they force you to use the Link. Hunterdon County's transportation system for the physically disabled. How much more degrading can a place get? If you are unlucky enough to have a snow day, the staff WONT drive you to work and leaves you with little options. Lose my job? Or call a close family member for a ride? Thanks, I'll keep my job and call a family member (all this done knowing that clinical Tuesday I would get screamed at by 6 angry old women on how I'm codependent) my argument back for that was: are we learning to call in sick to our jobs on snow days or are we acting like adults and Doing whatever is necessary to get to and from the things you threaten we do? I'll be the adult. It's a very backwards place. You're damned if you do and damned if you don't.
You get family visits on Sunday's for a few hours crammed in the living room, with every other girls family. Did I mention Helen took away my family Phone calls and visits for two months at a time? She is the type of person that if you're crying and pleading for help, she smiles in your face and shuts the door. She tries to get a reaction out of everyone (I'm shocked to hear no one has assaulted her yet. She really does get off on tormenting the already distressed.)
Do your loved ones a favor and send them elsewhere.

Sunrise cherry hill was a godsend. The nurse Sydney is absolutely the sweetest person you'll ever meet. I went there over a year ago and and she remembered me and made sure my stay there was comfortable. Unfortunately I've stayed at quite a few other facilities and NEVER was treated with such respect and kindness that she treated me with. She deserves a raise lol!
On the other hand..I made a very good friend in my time staying there..we kept in touch and we were both struggling. I was trying to be a good girlfriend and put my own health aside waiting waiting for him. I now know know that I need further assistance than just detox . He's not even. Being a decent human being/and/or being nice about it. I tried called the Sterling location 5 times where my friend is. She told me there is in IN FACT beds available but the person on the phone wasnt so friendly..almost demeaning. He said "just because there's beds available doesn't mean there's beds available". I was very confused...almost like he didn't want to help me save my life. And he was just annoyed to be answering the phone. He told me over and over in an annoyed and stern voice as I was in tears to call back at 9am. Im just lucky im not someone who is WAY more fragile and sensitive amd nothing terrible happened 🥺

The positive impact on my life and recovery has been a HUGE BLESSING on my life and recovery.I have been at the facility now 30 days, I talked to my counselor Jess about long term stay because I feel that is what I need, she was right on top of it and got me approved. Since coming to Pyramid Langhorne, and after 40 years of trying to get sober ; I've finally came to believe that I have totally surrendered and stopped fighting.
Each day keeps getting better and better. I know that it has to do with my willingness, but the main reason is because of the staff. Most times I am just blown away, in how they exude recovery, respect, and genuine concern about my life and happiness.

I can’t say enough good things about this facility/program. I did my IOP here and from day one, I felt supported, understood, and genuinely cared for. Courtney and Mika are incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate—they don’t just go through the motions; they truly invest in your growth and wellbeing.
The groups were meaningful, engaging, and actually useful in real life, not just “textbook recovery.” I learned tools that helped me rebuild structure, confidence, and balance in my life. The environment felt safe, nonjudgmental, and motivating, and I always walked out feeling better than when I walked in... they even have recliner "lay down and share" chairs oh and the Coffee is top notch

I’m going to be real honest and truthful about my experience at the Center for Great Expectations I see all these comments on how the center is so great and they take care of you aye I mean y’all can have y’all opinions but let me tell you my experience this comment might get taken down but who cares imma put it right back on here I came to the center for great expectations with my newborn baby on October 19th, 2023 and left on October 19, 2024 so that makes it a year don’t get me wrong the program is amazing the younger women I met there aren’t just women to me they were my long lost sisters I’m not going to name any names for the sake of their privacy and there babies this is about me but you know I had problems of my own I have a weed habit you know I’m going to admit to it but when you been smoking for 2 years make it 3 now it will be hard trying to get someone to quit and in my situation I couldn’t I felt like it was the only way to cope with what I was dealing with so yes I would be paying off girls for a vape pen or weed pen here and there but I just got to sloppy with my stuff like to sloppy leaving it on the bed hiding it on my body or in my bag or dropping it on the floor in the van my restriction record in there is like real top of the charts it’s not something to be proud of but one day they just so happened to drug test me and my clinician decided to refer me to go to Roots 2 Recovery basically it’s sessions and drug testing but never in my life and I put my hand on my grandmother’s grave never in my life have I ever smoked in the same room as my baby I would go in the bathroom and put her in her crib with 2 toys and a laptop with Mickey Mouse club house or Coco melon also when I did have a weed pen it did not leave a big high it may pull hard but it just left a buzz and my eyes low with my time there I did manage to cut back what like 2 months. They were saying I wasn’t paying attention to my baby enough there were times my baby had fallen off of the bed and fell out of her stroller also the fact that I left her on a elevator by accident cause one of the staff wanted to call me last minute of me getting on the elevator due to all of that they had to call DCFS on me I had 2 court appearances also they referred me for treatment right around where I stay at and I have to get reminded every other day that I can get my babygirl ripped out of my arms and I can’t do anything about it also that a judge will be looking at my levels how in the world do you think I feel and I kept telling my CMO worker I wanted to leave asap but she kept persuading me. The whole point I’m getting at yes I had some good times but in some kind of way they ruined me if any young women reading this if you wanna go and give it a try I’m not stopping you just be careful and Thank you for listening

By far the best place around. If your serious about your recovery, this is the place. It’s not just all about the medication, it’s about the staff as well. My counselor, Sharece T saved my life. She goes above and beyond the call of duty and treats people as an individual, not a group, because we’re all different. She really took the time to get to know me and get to the root of the problem and checks up regularly to see if everything’s going well. I’ve been to many places, doctors, meetings and rehabs. No one has ever understood me better, witch is very important in recovery so you can be treated accordingly. I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I’m extremely grateful and blessed for my counselor Sharece. A huge thanks to this organization and most importantly, my counselor.

SHOUT OUT to the staff here..I have been to many many rehabs, and there is something different about these people, and this place..they are in my opinion, Earth Angels. No judgement, they really just want to help and are good humans! Also, the way they go about treatment, I felt really cared about , from the 1st day. I need a higher level of treatment but I will be going to Outpatient there after..
I can't recommend this place enough. They have no hard chairs that your ass goes numb from sitting in for hours, they have leather, lazy boy chairs, in the entire place, they have a quite room where you can rest if you are detoxing or dont feel good, they feed you great food, they have snacks and sodas and I was literally told "think of this place as your home away from home" and from the clinical staff, the nursing staff, the Dr., they're all special people. xoxoxoxo

I have been coming to Stress Care for several years now and at first it was a little rocky but about six months ago I was assigned to Christina. I cannot recommend Christina highly enough. She is an incredibly compassionate, skilled, and insightful therapist who creates a safe and supportive space for real growth and healing. From the very first session, I felt truly heard and understood. Christina has a unique ability to ask the right questions, offer meaningful perspectives, and guide me toward clarity in ways that feel empowering rather than overwhelming.
Her warmth, professionalism, and genuine care shine through in every interaction. I’ve noticed so many positive changes in my life thanks to her guidance, and I feel more confident, grounded, and hopeful than I have in years. Was brought in via EMS, admitted for 2 nights and 3 days in the adolescent unit. The hospital staff are incredible, caring and always smiling at all hours. The night neuro team came in while I was having an episode, instead of just making sure I was medically stable they held my hand and reassured me that they were right next to me and I'd be ok- all at 3 in the morning! Shout out to Nurses Kim, Sam, Heather; all the rest of the nurses in Adolescents; Doctor Sarah Yavelberg and the Peds team; and Art Therapist Christiana and Child Life Specialist Jasdeep 🩷🩷! I definitely felt safe, taken care of, listened to, validated and understood during my hospitalization.
Additionally, the place is very clean, aesthetically appealing, and well-designed. There was a bed with a separate curtain, light and tv for parent to stay overnight. Meals can be ordered from an extensive menu and are delivered to rooms. They changed sheets as often as requested, even multiple times a day.
People ask why I insist on traveling the hour distance to New Brunswick for emergencies, and this is why! If there was an option to give more than five stars, RWJ New Brunswick would definitely get it!

I can honestly and sincerely say that the intensive outpatient program at High Focus legitimately changed my life.
The science-backed, evidence-based multi-faceted program has provided me with the tools & strategies I need in my day to day life to handle intense emotions as well as process trauma in healthy and adaptive ways through anger management, emotional regulation, DBT, CBT, grounding & mindfulness techniques.
Almost every day I find myself utilizing at least one of the techniques that I was taught at High Focus, whether that is Opposite Action, distress tolerance, STOP, boxed breathing, TIPP, HALT, cope ahead statements, etc. etc.
I have truly grown, changed, improved and bettered myself as a person. The anger, outbursts, explosions, toxicity and inability to properly regulate my emotions have been replaced by properly applying the core principles if what I learned in IOP.
Its not about never making mistakes. Its not about there never being steps backwards. Its about learning from the mistakes, not making the same ones and always talking the steps forward.
I am able to do that now thanks to everything I learned at High Focus and I want to sincerely thank all of the staff there for helping me to do that.

High Focus saved my life. When I first walked in, I was struggling with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, guilt, shame, relationship issues, unhealthy coping strategies, trauma, battling with thoughts of giving up and abandonment – honestly, the list goes on. I felt completely lost and was stuck living in survival mode. But with the help of the caring and supportive staff, I was able to uncover strengths I didn’t even know I had, and rediscover the confident, beautiful person beneath all the pain. I've been dealing with something from a DUI from 2012. I lost my job. I had to move. I cannot get anybody to help me and I've been sober now for many years. I haven't drank in many many years and for almost 7 months my license has been suspended. After it was reinstated from 2012, I renewed it four times. This is the fifth time I went to renew it. Mind you, I live in New Jersey. This happened in Pennsylvania and they were saying that they don't have all my paperwork. My old lawyer wouldn't even help me out. They said they have more important things to do. I paid some other company 300 bucks. I've spent hours and hours and hours trying to get this resolved. Titling companies bucks county courthouse Doylestown courthouse Court of clerks I got nowhere absolutely nowhere except frustration and anger again. I was making sometimes three phone calls a day trying to get through to PennDOT and always getting a different answer. They wanted stuff from 2012. You don't even have to keep medical or tax records for that long so to speak.
The one place over in Pennsylvania said I would have to go back and do IOP and they wanted a 5-month update on how I was doing. I've graduated IOP and I've been sober ever since
Unfortunately, I did not find out about this place till about a month ago. Unfortunately I moved from Jersey to Michigan so it's been a little bit of a pain
I was dealing with one of the other places regarding DUIs common law places in Pennsylvania that the court basically works with, but absolutely one of the worst experience in my life.
But again it wasn't till almost the 7th month of dealing with this that I was told I could go and try to deal with another facility
However, livinggren has been beyond helpful beyond sympathetic to my situation. They are absolutely trying to help me.
HELEN and JAMIE, are absolutely amazing! Everyone that I've spoken to there has been absolutely amazing, but these two women in particular that have been trying to help me are just absolutely god sense. So I'm sure that everyone else at that facility is just absolutely amazing as well. I only wish I found this place when I needed help with my substance abuse but better late than never they say!!
