Grateful to God, my family, my Therapist Jennifer and my Psychiatrist Dr. lvarez. My life, my way of thinking is different. Wow. Where do I start. Listen, it s a long journey for myself to realize. You have a problem. The first step in solving a Problem, is realizing there is one. I started this journey actually 23 years ago when I was in the dig hole for 9 months as an ESU cop. Over the years you try and put it to the side after all funerals you were at and never going to the memorial l, and just trying to not face it. Then the nightmares start. Then the alcohol to try and cope after working a midnight tour , who you kidding Will . Yea it s fun to drink, but not when people start saying hey, this isn t you. You re being a jerk. Oh no. I don t want that to be me. So the best people came to the rescue to help me. Kristina, Ariella , Karin, Thomas, Derrick, Moe at the front, and now my angel I finally met that s gonna help me through. Dr GiGi. Wow. She s so special and nice. Anyways. Your not alone they helpWiliam

Im originally from the Ronkonkama area & traveled from another state & my home that was 1200 miles away for cancer treatment. I am happy & willing to say, This VA in Northport did a great job from EENT, Dietitians, Hospital stay, ER, Oncology & Radiation, psychology & ALL! Even the PD is friendly & great.👮🏼‍♂️😁 I kinda wish there was a clergyman around. Maybe they will institute it or get better about serving the faith or faiths.✝️ Also work on Radiation & Oncology Patient Parking I hope with a new parking lot as I completed my treatments. The exercise did me good but horrible cold weather nearly gave me pneumonia. I'm not a valet type of guy. Well maybe once in Vegas of my 50 some odd years. I am very appreciative of the VA in Northport. Long Island is very fortunate to have. & get great care. I hope to get healthy enough as I am recovering from my cancer still, I AM CANCER FREE! (Please note that this review was written before the Trump/DOGE cuts were made to VA services.) I've never dealt with a VA hospital before, and so didn't know what to expect when my father started using their services. I have to say that we have been extremely pleased with what we've experienced. In addition to the very satisfactory medical care he received, another thing that was impressive was the respect with which they treat the veterans. I saw this not only with my father, but with others who I saw in the halls during our visits to their ER and other offices. You could tell that the care they gave sprung from appreciation for their service. Both the doctors and the nurses were always there for us when we needed them. They both made house calls and the nurses were there for us 24/7-- even for emergency house calls in the wee hours of the night/morning. Everything we experienced in our years of interactions with the VA left me with a feeling that socialized medicine could indeed work if done properly. That's not meant to be a political statement, but just an observation of truly good service coming from a government-run agency. My dad recently passed away, so I really want to thank the Northport VA for their service to him. It made a big difference to him and those of us caring for him. I don't know what we would have done without them.

I have nothing but positive things to say about Seafield. It basically saved my life and has guided me to a much healthier and happier way of living. I have 1 year sober, and I give much credit to this facility for getting me so where I am today. The support staff were amazing. They were knowledgeable and always willing to help. The therapists, case mangers, etc. were thoughtful, insightful, and caring. The outings and walk in Central Park enhanced my experience and prove that participating in fun activities sober is possible. I wish.this was my first time in behab, because it was just what I needed. The access to our phone and the process has to tightened up. Request for the phone is supposed to be within 24 hours and the communication of the status needs to be timely and consistent. If there are meal requests (smoothies for breakfast) need to be honored. The temperature regulation is inconsistent and should be better regulated. Freezing in our room and hot in rooms on the same floor. Minute in com partisan to the positives. Putting my review in a nutshell,"my mother always told me to "fake it until you make it" and by becoming a rehabilitated human being at,Carnegie Hill Institute, again,I no longer have to fake it. And if there were anyone else I'd thank, besides the Lord, for seeking life' purpose,I thank the generosity of spirit and the way they come from love first and of in their successes at making sure I can regain the trust of others because they trust in me. And without gaining the trust of others,it takes away your will to live.

Carnegie Hill Institute is by far the greatest recovery program I ve ever had the pleasure of attending. In the 4 years I ve been enrolled at CHI I have successfully stopped using for 3 years now. My counselor at this time is not only the most helpful counselor I ve ever had in any recovery type place, but he s also been a great friend to me as somebody to confide in. The man who started this Institute Dr. Harvey Karkus unfortunately passed away recently much to my dismay. He was one of the last remaining doctors in this city who truly cared about his patients and genuinely tried to help each and everyone of them. However I like to believe that his legacy lives on in the new doctor on staff Dr. Ella Leers as she is much like him in many ways. In conclusion I absolutely believe 100% that my ability to stop using has been due to the care that Carnegie has given me. Thanks guys!

Had to take my husband on Saturday 05/10/25 to Holy Name Hospital. I've been to this hospital countless times, bc I like it, their service overall is decent. So it seems hubby has a bad virus, not flu or covid but possibly a type of coronavirus. That day, there was a nurse, not sure if she was an LPN or CNA bc I couldnt see her tag well but her name was Keyla Silva and she was stellar! I have never written a review about a nurse but she was awesome! So kind, caring, helpful and I really felt that she was genuine and wanted to help. she offered us both warm blankets, a pillow for my husband, water, etc. she took off my husbands socks and put the hospital ones on him, like I could've done that myself but she insisted and I thought, this is different, this is a nurse that cares. She checked on us several times, more so than the actual nurse. Not to disparage the RNs but after a while it just becomes common place to do well but not always go above and beyond and that could be because they already work a lot and are tired. But Keyla was the sweetest, friendliest nurse and I just wanted to commend her because it made a huge difference in our night. Thank you Keyla, I hope your superiors acknowledge your hard work. You're definitely a special nurse that people will remember.

‘Hurt People , Hurt People’. I needed a free therapist and was able to have 5 intake sessions with a pleasant young woman. I benefited from these sessions as it is always rewarding when we analyze and acknowledge what is going on in our lives. So much was happening for me and I was not able to attend all the assigned sessions. Management was not able to communicate in a responsible or mature manner; I wonder maybe they too are prior clients who have graduated but do not have a total grip on their situation and sometimes need help themselves. My very pleasant intake person became insensitive, cold, ‘passive aggressive’ and quite non communicative. I lead the conversation and realized that I was being ‘expelled’. I really don’t know the reason as I do believe she has her own issues and the Leadership is not of a strong foundation with knowledge of servicing a diverse clientele. Such a shame because this has the potential to be a top notch program in a great community. I only wish I was able to find an experienced, strong, qualified leadership that is familiar with diversity and respect. I was feeling hurt as this was the second time I had to deal with leadership’s lack of sensitivity. It should not be just a JOB when people come to you for help. Fix the structure of this place.

MHANC keeps social workers up to date on CEU's at a great price. They send out e-mails almost daily with upcoming classes to register, and most are available to attend online. Offered at a great price, and the class topics are always super interesting and relevant to the field. 10/10!
