While there are always flaws no matter where you go, it's not a one-size-fits-all. I have personally witnessed for four years many people succeed who are committed to changing their lives.
Truth is you have to not only want it but also be willing to work for it. There comes a point in an addict's life where they will do anything to change their circumstances and patterns of behavior that led to their current state, and those are the clients that succeed at Odyssey, or anywhere else.

I was so lost and giving up on life and a few good suggestions brought me here. Everyone from the friar in charge of the inn to security and maintenance made me feel welcome. The counselors are the best I’ve ever dealt with. My counselor was amazing, the physco therapist helped me realize things on my own and a former resident who is now staff related to my issues making me comfortable with the process. That guy was a godsend. These people helped me with my addiction issues more in 6 months then I’ve been able to do over the last 30 years. I now have hope and a blueprint that I follow to live a life in recovery. I could never thank them enough

Since there, in 2017, I had one slip up about a year after I graduated, but that was almost 8 years ago now. Since then, I went to welding school, they set me up in a halfway house in NYC, moved back home to Rochester, NY. While attending a program at the Harlem Parish next door, my mother of 91 had an non-emergency, urgent situation. We entered the facility not knowing what to expect. We were greeted with upmost respect and kindness. From the security detail at the door to the 2 receptionists at the window, these wonderful people worked collectively to get us what we need to attend the program comfortably. This hospital took forever to put my mother name in kidney transplant list. Moreover, every month my mother kidney transplant coordinator was asking for cardiologist clearance. And I was faxing her . She active my mom in kidney transplant list. I got called from the hospital, that one kidney is available. They called my mom , we went to the hospital. And everything was ready. But at the end, one doctor came from the hospital and told me that they will not accept my mom cardiologist clearance. They need clearance from the hospital cardiologist. I told them that why they didn’t tell me this before ? I was sending them Clarence for almost a year. Otherwise my mom would’ve been seen cardiologist from the hospital. My mom cardiologist was very upset. They send my mom home and deactivate her from the list.
These people don’t realize that people who are on diyalas don’t have too much time . I took appointment from one of the cardiologist from the hospital, they had no availability for 3 months. Unfortunately my mom passed away after 3 months . I remember her saying call doctor office, if anyone cancels the appointment so she can see the doctor early. But we had wait for 3 months. Now she is gone. 😞

The best clinic experience I’ve ever had. The registration people on the 1st floor need attitude adjustments- you can tell this is a unionized workforce- all else was amazing. Most secretaries are excellent- a couple seem miserable- overall 5 stars for quality care by the people I need to be good at what they do- therapists and doctors- they are wonderful!
