The experience of clients is wholly dependent on the counselors. I had a good one. Clerical, billing and administrative all seem to genuinely be helpful. Most of your experience will be with the counselors, so yeah it'll really depend. They may be able to help you realize triggers and non-consequential thinking. They can help to connect you with the treatment level appropriate, if any. They aren't selling a model of treatment or cajoling clients to be better. They expect if you're there, you're ready to be honest and open to the opinion of a professional. What you do with that information is yours. If you ask, they'll tell you how they can best help. When seeing reviews for this place, please keep in mind the mindset of most people going to a county service and taking time to leave a review. Most people feel entitled to have access to these services instead of the privilege it is, so will often come at it from that viewpoint. I understand the county is not required to provide any services, but am grateful that they do.

It's been a few years since I've been a member of RSS on River St. in Oneonta but I wanted to give a review. This organization helped me when I had no family or friends or anyone in this world. God lead me to RSS and they helped change my life. Sherry Stallone and her staff were kind., respectful and understanding when I was incapable and afraid and misunderstood. My agoraphobia would have taken over my life had it not been for the help given and received from RSS and the Mental health office they sent me to in Oneonta. RSS works with the community and the individual to enable people like me with mental health issues to become a working and contributing member of society. RSS was the VERY first step for me that opened all the other doors I could not open myself. They supported me all the way until I was able to be launched on my own. I truly enjoyed my experience at Serenity Mountain Recovery Center. From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere was peaceful, welcoming, and incredibly therapeutic. The beautiful mountain views, nature walks, fun outings, and amazing women’s meetings created an environment where healing felt possible. My counseling sessions with Jenna were life-changing. She helped put my mind at ease, introduced me to CBT in a way I could truly apply, and supported my personal growth every step of the way. The groups led by Christina, Ariel, and Jenna on topics like codependency, neuroplasticity, and shadow work were insightful, informative, and helped me better understand myself and my recovery. The house staff, especially Nicole, Tiffany, and Mariah, made me feel safe, supported, and truly at home. Pastor Laurie also had a profound impact on my journey, helping me strengthen my faith through her Christian group and the Recovery Bible she gifted us. Being able to connect Scripture with my recovery was incredibly meaningful. A special thank you to Sandy, who runs the program. She is genuinely one of the kindest, most compassionate, and selfless people I’ve ever met. Her heart for helping others is evident in everything she does. Most importantly, I left Serenity with lifelong friendships, a stronger foundation in recovery, and hope for the future. I have grown tremendously, and I will always be grateful to Serenity Mountain Recovery Center for helping me begin this next chapter of my life.

It's everything I imagined it would be. Spiritual growth and personal growth I have received. My counselor Jenna (God bless her) has working with me patiently through my different stages of sobriety. Serenity Mountain has opened so many doors of opportunity for me. The staff Missy, Nichole, Mariah, and Laverne are awesome. I love everyone of them. Thank you Sandy for this gift of Sobriety. I completed here in 7 months and that’s probably the earliest completion time that is given, they say 6-9 months but it will take 30 days to discharge you after you’ve been approved. I’m just going to say one thing that may be viewed as negative but it’s really just about your mindset. This facility really doesn’t like to just let you go, even if you’ve spent a full 6-9 months and did the work, stayed out of trouble. I personally see this as them being cautious about keeping us safe rather than a financial thing which everyone will always argue. The staff members who are not working directly on our treatment, like the “techs” which are just called clinical support, they are very well liked. It seems that because they are around us far more than the counselors, they understand us better and you can just know that they care about us a lot because seeing us day in and day out for almost a year, they get to know you, trust is developed. Holidays here are the most extraordinary celebrations any rehab has put together. Not just the winter holidays, every single holiday is celebrated. There were constant events going on, this really created a bonding in the community. Groups are individually chosen, there are many different groups going at the same time and the group changed go by semesters which are ever three months, you sit and pick which groups you would like to be in. I really enjoyed this and some of the groups were fantastic. They throw in things like philosophy, self defense, etc. as if we are taking a college class so it’s not all about addiction treatment. No cell phone and limited phone calls. No cigarettes. You only leave to go to doctor appointments. If you are someone who has tried and failed, tried and failed and need help. PLEASE GIVE NEW HOPE MANOR A SHOT. I will always say that my stay here was the most significant part of my life in the 32 years I’ve been alive. I’m all about self discovery, it’s my purpose in life and NHM gave me so much self discovery. I want to personally thank Matt, who’s genuine care about each of us was made very apparent by always being available to talk and how much he loved to make us laugh. I honestly couldn’t wait to spend my free time after lunch just chatting in the computer room, i know everyone felt that way which is why everyone was always there. Matt takes his job seriously like really seriously and when he took a vacation, the whole place malfunctioned for a couple days but most of all, we couldnt wait til he came back. This is all genuinely true and that just speaks for itself how much of an impact Matt has made on the women.

I just finished 7 months at New Hope Manor and I’m so happy! I am a new person, no longer committing murder to myself via alcohol, opioids and cigarettes. The Angelic guidance of my counselor Amanda who always had the utmost patience and care for me has helped set me free of the self destructive, depressing life I had before I was blessed enough to find New Hope. Amanda gently guided me into having a life I never thought I could achieve. Also Anand, my therapist, helped me so much it’s unreal. He had a way of showing me how to show myself why I self sabotaged and how to fix me. He is an amazing man so gentle , soulful, intuitive, positive and encouraging. Both he and Amanda showed me how and why to forgive myself and how to stop living in shame. I never felt so cared for and understood by anybody like I did from the whole gifted staff at New Hope. Not just for me but for all the other clients living there as well. It amazed me to witness the patience and understanding which was shown even to the most difficult client. The groups (classes) were so well thought out to help bring about a transformation worthy of the hard work they asked. I loved learning all about life, and addiction (it’s never to late) and why and how a sober and peaceful life was mine if I wanted it badly enough. I could never ever thank the amazing staff at New Hope for my New life. Everyone on the staff; whether they were personally assigned to me or not was always there for us which meant so much to me which I’m sure they didn’t realize how much it meant. Even Joe who ran the kitchen showed so much love preparing our meals. The 3 meals a day plus snacks was above and beyond what you’d expect. Just saying, delicious! Joe is an amazing man. I am so grateful for getting to know him and learn why he understood all of us and why he cared so much. I can go on and on with praise for New Hope. I’m not saying they are perfect. Who is? However I can say they do listen to the women there. I figured out early on that when I didn’t agree with their methods there was a good reason for those methods. I know God bought me to New Hope. I was never in rehab before and had no idea what to expect. I did know I couldn’t go on self murdering myself the way I was. I do know I never expected to heal the way I did. I also know I will continue to work on my sobriety outside NH and I know they are with me for the rest of my life. ❤️

The staff is awesome, as is Dr. Abidi; efficient, kind, empathetic, and highly skilled. Nurse Stacy was the best. It was like having a family member care for you. And, a shout out to the two young people who staffed the front desk at the hospital. They were upbeat and smiling. One of the two is a handsome young Yankees fan who has an infectious personality and who was able, in the short time we interacted with him, to completely diffuse the tension my husband and I had with respect to my upcoming procedure. I don't think people realize how important that first contact is. It sets the tone for the entire experience. So thank you to those young hospital representatives. I have no notes. UPDATE: I went to the E.R. on 6/8/2026 with a broken foot. All of the E.R. staff was attentive, responsive, empathetic, and caring. (There were a couple of unhoused people, who clearly were dealing with severe mental issues, who were patients; and I was blown away - and relieved - by how kindly and patiently they were treated; and happy that a social worker worked with them to address their immediate needs.) Angelica, among others, made the entire traumatic experience so much easier for me. I was admitted to have surgery the next day; and the medical nursing staff on the floor, the wonderful lady who cleaned the room, the anesthesiologist (with whom I interacted because he gave me a nerve block in the knee prior to surgery), the food coordinator (I'm a vegan, and she handled that beautifully), and - of course - Dr. Sweet - made the entire experience as free of stress and pain as possible. Highly recommend this hospital.

I want to thank the staff and people at the Binghamton location. 2year 5 months ago I walked into their facility and it was the first rehab I've gone to where I stayed. The people there were caring and really sweet. I owe them 2years an 5 months of my life so far bc they helped me get clean. Even when I'd just sit there coloring bc I was shutting down mentally they were great. I've colored them so many things to hang up and show future people that it does help.

I have been here a few times.. the staff here is amazing!!! From coming in the door to you go out the door every one of them was very professional and they really care about you. I wanted to let them know that they saved my life and just wanted to say thank you!!!!! I'm going on five months clean and will never go down that road again.. they have even called me since I have been out to see how I was doing. It's a very clean place I recommend this place to anyone. They have a cousler named Patrick he is the best..

This program saved my brother's life. From the counselors, to the skills-building, and family recovery resources in between, this program is saving lives and families. My brother has been in and out of 30-day rehabs for 5+ years since he was 17. He's now 21, and the happiest he's ever been. What makes this program different is that they are young adult focused and NOT FOR PROFIT. They work with insurance and state funding, so they don't turn people away because of an inability to pay. My brother has been able to complete his high school diploma, and has now been in the program for 8 months. He's building his recovery and professional skills, learning about different trades, involved in so many activities in the program, and is becoming a peer leader. The counselors and staff involve families in the recovery process because they recognize its a family disease. They also work with members who are on MAT and taper them at a level that works for them. DYC considers every angle of their life—structure, community, skill building, independence and compassion. The Fallsburg location is exclusively a long-term residential program with weekend visits by families permitted. The Brooklyn location provides both residential and out-patient programs. My brother has even said "I can't believe I didn't come here sooner." Coming from a 21-year old, that should tell you a lot! Even the DYC alumni (past members) are so inspirational to hear from and continue to remain active. Would 100% recommend DYC to anyone who has a young adult in their life struggling with addiction and is looking for a compassionate alternative to 30-day rehabs.

My cousin, who is more like a brother to me, has been to DYC more than once. While he is no longer there today, that is not because of any shortcoming on DYC’s part. This place is truly a diamond in the rough. DYC is one of the very few long-term treatment facilities available for youth, a rarity that in itself makes it invaluable. But beyond that, what makes DYC extraordinary is the people: kind, compassionate, dedicated individuals who consistently go above and beyond not only for its members but also for the families who walk alongside them in this difficult journey. From the Fallsburg residence to the Brooklyn program and beyond, DYC offers so much more than treatment. It provides dignity, holistic care, and the life skills, introspection, and tools needed to break free from addiction’s grip. It is a place that treats people as whole human beings, worthy of love, healing, and hope. Although my cousin is no longer a member due to his own circumstances and decisions, DYC has never left me behind. For over a year, I have been attending the family groups virtually every Wednesday, and in that time I have been heard, understood, guided, and supported. These groups have profoundly shifted my beliefs, my approach, and my ability to support not only my cousin but also myself as I navigate the long and painful road that addiction weaves into families. I especially want to recognize Jen and Scott, who lead our Wednesday meetings with such care, wisdom, and compassion. Their ability to hold space for every single person in the group - through laughter, tears, and honest conversation - has been life-changing. They embody the heart of what makes DYC so special. I have cried with this community, laughed with them, and learned from them. I have been humbled by the strength of other families and, in turn, found strength of my own. The gratitude I feel for DYC, the staff, the families, and the space they create together, cannot truly be captured by words. But I can say this: DYC has given me hope, perspective, and a community when I needed it most. For that, I am forever thankful.

I have been using family and children’s for the last 15 months. My first therapist unfortunately moved out of the area so I was put on a wait list. She was absolutely amazing and so helpful, and got me through the abusive relationship I was in. Fast forward to the beginning of September I received a phone call saying how there was someone available for me to see again. Perfect timing because me and my ex had broken up a week before hand and I was in a bad mental state. I then started seeing Bailey. She’s an intern but she has a very successful career ahead of her. She helped me through the beginning stages of my terrible breakup while validating my feelings, coaching me through the struggles of the breakup, and much more. She was absolutely wonderful. I was put on Lexapri through Holli and for the last month I’ve been on it, it has helped tremendously. I feel like an entirely new person. Hopeful, Excited to see what the future holds, and all around genuinely happy. Thank you ❤️
