Dr. Michael Tornwall, the surgeon that performed my surgery, was calm, confident, and genuinely invested in my outcome from surgery through follow-up. My inpatient nurses Zakaria and Jen were superstars — attentive, warm, and caring to the point that it felt like family. But they weren’t outliers. Without exception, every person I encountered — dietitian, phlebotomist, radiology, surgical team, the rest of the nursing staff, recovery team, cleaning staff — all were kind and professional. Not one weak link. My room was spotless, quiet, and private. The cleanliness throughout was exceptional. My care was outstanding and I couldn't have asked for better treatment. We should all feel lucky to have such a great asset right here in our hometown. But the front office staff could use some customer service skills training. My daughters school therapist whom is for Logan Hocking middle school found a suicide note in her book bag. That therapist told us to come to this location and get her seen immediately. Instead of the office staff doing so. They sent us on what would be a 4 hour journey to Athens then the plains Hopewell health centers. Then it was their lunch break in the plains and we had to wait an hour until they would talk to me. Not even my daughter. I believe the ball was dropped for her. She was in a crisis and cause of the front office staff she is just now being seen today for her first appointment a MONTH later. She is 12 and her wanting to kill herself required immediate attention and they failed at getting her that help that she desperately needed. That day to say I was Angry was an understatment. I graduated and walked out of there more proud and prepared then I've ever felt in my life. I now have just about 18 months clean, and Harmony Ridge in Barboursville is how that was made possible! From the second I called I’ve been treated with love care and empathy by everyone at the facility. Even after completing the 28 program staff members like Joshua Haskiell reach out to check in on me regularly. They don’t make anymore money to do those things they are just genuinely good people with big hearts who have earned my trust. The main guy the director of operations Jacob May was there in the flesh 6 days a week with his door literally open all day. A man in his position doesn’t have to make your problems his problems but that’s exactly what he does for anyone needing help. He personally helped me with seemingly little things but important to me and he didn’t act like they were little he acted like they were important to him. In six days I was stable and discharged, as well as transported free, close to 100 miles from where I came from, which is the Herschel "Woody" Williams VA Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia. Another fine VA Hospital. However, they lack acute psychiatric care units like the one at the Chillicothe VA. Very kind, caring, and efficient staff. The Mental Health Treatment Team at Chillicothe, sent a consult/referral for residential treatment. I am reporting to the Wade Park Domiciliary, Monday morning at 9am. Great staff. Just yesterday I had an appointment at this clinic. Afterwards I went to Rural king and dropped a salt lick block on my toe. Worried that it might be broken, I returned to the clinic. As a walk in, I asked the clerk if they do X-rays and explained my situation. She said take a sit, they'll be right with you. Not 10 minutes later, I had my X-ray taken and I was out the door heading home. I am very blessed to have access to this clinic.
