In six days I was stable and discharged, as well as transported free, close to 100 miles from where I came from, which is the Herschel "Woody" Williams VA Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia. Another fine VA Hospital. However, they lack acute psychiatric care units like the one at the Chillicothe VA. Very kind, caring, and efficient staff. The Mental Health Treatment Team at Chillicothe, sent a consult/referral for residential treatment. I am reporting to the Wade Park Domiciliary, Monday morning at 9am. The nurses and PCAs were all very kind were able to provide me with whatever I needed. This was my first stay at this hospital and it couldn't have been better. I will say that I used to use the Circleville clinic (which I don't recommend) but I have now been using the Chillicothe clinic for about a year. The Chillicothe clinic is the polar opposite of the circleville clinic. Nate is a fantastic counselor. The entire staff is great though. You can even get your medications from their in house pharmacy. There is also a crisis center on location 24/7. I cannot recommend this place more than I already do. I will advocate for this place. He’s a breath of fresh air as he listens and asks questions so we can both grow together in my treatment plan and be successful together. I started counseling here at Scioto a month ago and have been able to get in weekly for therapy immediately! This has taken a huge weight of my shoulders as I need consistent therapy. They helped me to learn a better way of life. Reading the other review posted here, to me, is pathetic. They are not magicians who can cure you with a wave of their hand. Rebuilding a new and better life for yourself takes work, which includes making plans and taking action, is what they have helped me to do, but I was ready and wanted what they had to offer. I'm over 9 months clean today and actually feel I have a purpose in life again. I've been in a couple different rehabilitation programs , but if it wasn't for PARS I'd still be in a hole. They give 1 on 1 counseling which is critical as well as weekly classes depending on what you need. Andrea is my individual counselor and she does an amazing job listening, remembering and knowing how best to approach my specific situation. Michelle and Terry are also counselors and they lead classes weekly and do an awesome job and actually understand about what they're teaching which is critical for anyone struggling with this epidemic. This place has been very accommodating when my counselor is out sick by finding another counselor willing to do my 1 hour session. As a kid I was very picky about who I spoke to for counseling but I've enjoyed speaking with every counselor here! if you're a male who is thinking about starting methadone it most likely will cause hypogonadism also known as low testosterone levels. I was not told this when I started here and I went 3 years untreated. 2 years ago I found a urologist for peeing problems who performed a TURP surgery on me due to a narrow urethra. It was because of my follow up appointment that my urologist ordered multiple testosterone levels tests which were too low.
