My favorite 2 staff members when I was in the Echo unit was Mackenzie and Allison because one night I was there and I let her French braid my hair before I went to sleep and Mackenzie is amazing because my last night I was there I asked her if she could help me to my room after I got off the phone with my boyfriend because I was dizzy and I had ankle pain at a 8 to where it hurt for when I walked. Also Tammie is amazing she was like a mom when she was in my section at night. Also while I was there it gave me thought to be a staff member for maybe the Echo unit when I’m out of college. S 1 month ago I was in unit 8 when it was co ed , and it was a absolutely amazing experience, as with most women in recovery I went there with a lack of trust in men to say the least ,but I made some amazing friends there who encouraged me and cheered for me , I thought I was only going to have to stay 30 days turns out the court decided I needed 90 , and Autumn delivered the news with such care that I easily accepted, she said Clarissa this can be what you make , we have a lot of programs here that you have access to let's get you signed up , I was able to video chat my children twice a week for 30 minutes took parentingl classes on how to help my children deal with my addiction and learned the steps I needed to take to stay clean!! Did acupuncture, at Christmas time the music program let us go Carroling around campus to all the other units , we built snowman, I was there for all major holidays that year and we was treated like a human being 😍 ALOT of ppl complain about not being able to talk to family but I actually found it a relief the first month I was there , I had crap I was dealing with (guilt ,shame , embarrassment )and the once a week I did call home those feelings of inadequacy would come back ten fold , but after the initial few weeks my confidence began to build and I learned forgiveness!!!
