Beth was my lead counselor and I have nothing but good things to say. She was very honest, and intentional with her counseling, allowing me to feel comfortable and purposeful in our sessions. She also led groups that had an alternate approach to therapy, such as hands on activities like creating vision boards or mindfulness jars. The facilitators / staff are very invested in the work they are doing, which made the entire experience actually work for me. Vs. feeling like it was just going through the motions. DBT is a complicated therapy model but a very good one. And the staff here know their stuff. Which is important when you're facilitating a DBT program. I will recommend this program over and over again. It was truly a lifeline. From intake to discharge, every single staff member/therapist/doctor etc I interacted with was skilled, engaged, receptive, and invested. They took me seriously, and didn't take what I was there for lightly. I appreciate that a lot. I can genuinely say this program helped me in a huge way. And that's what I needed going in. Once you’ve completed the required steps in this home you will move to a sober home of the mission if you choose to continue . In the sober home you will be able to move freely to work to meeting and whatever your recreational activities may be. All of this sounded so uncomfortable to me until I saw and lived it myself and I can tell you there is just such an opportunity for you and a chance to build a life that sounds like such a fairytale when I was in active addiction . There is a meeting every morning on the beach that completely changes your mind about your chances. I can go further into detail and would be happy to with any questions about this program it saved my life I assure you I’m not writing this column without all of my friends I made getting sober at the mission.
