Freedom Model At St Judes Retreat you learn the how to escape the tread mill of addiction and recovery and how to manage or stop your substance use, by challenging yourself to analyze the way you look at it. You come to understand there is not a battle with addiction that you have to fight your whole life and that it doesn’t have to be a difficult process. Happiness is a choice and you can choose what what will provide you with the greatest amount of joy in your life. The 30 years of research, science and experience Mark Scheeren, Steven Slate and Michelle Dunbar have put behind their program is impressive, it provides much needed alternative to the 12 Steps based programs which frequently do not work for many people. In a beautiful Upstate New York country setting you will work privately and closely with instructors who help you understand the Freedom Model philosophy. They have a staff of compassionate and positive people that work as a team to support you in reaching your goals; which in turn helps you to succeed. The rooms were very comfortable, the house was open and inviting, the food was delicious, healthy, and nutritious, and there were many activities to partake in during down time, such as hiking in the Catskills, going to the gym, movie night; on site there is a hot tub and swimming pool (summer) and a fireplace in the great room for cold weather relaxing. Living at the retreat is like taking an immersion program in another country to learn a new language.

I left with the skills to carry forward with my life unencumbered by the burden of addiction. After searching 33 years for answers, it is without hesitation that I recommend St Judes Retreat.

Everyone at the hospital was great but he in particular handled everything with patience, grace and professionalism. Thank you Xavier!

I was a resident of Berkshire Farms from August 25th 1995 to August 25th of 1996. I was in pole hahn cottage. I remember Mr Daniels, Mr Pinkston, Matt the overnight guy Dell. We loved out because he used to smoke cigarettes and could never smell if we were smoking because he was so old and always fell asleep in the chair at night. Mr Burke. I remember Lonis he was in a strong man competition or tough man fighting competition or something like that. Remember black guy Mr Evans he was a good friend of Mike Tyson. I remember Vinny from naughty by nature serving us food one day in the chow hall. Lot of memories from that place From there I was shipped to the Schrader house group home in Yaphank on Long Island. It has now been taken over by The game farm.

I'm not sure were to start. Besides having a wonderful family, friends and a few staff at Soldier On to help (really above and beyond) me in my recovery (still have a little more to do) The staff at Hillcrest Commons are just the most caring group of people. I wish I could put their names down individually but I can't thank you all enough. From the RNs, LPNs, Aids, PT/OT, Kitchen crew, Cleaners, Social Workers, Maintenance, Laundry and I'm sure I'm missing some others but what a good team. All shifts work pretty darn well together. I like that they hear your concerns and if they don't have the answer, they will try and find it. Thank you. 4.85 🌟 out of 5 🌟 Hillcrest 10.0 🌟 out of 5 🌟 Family I would recommend Hillcrest Commons Rehabilitation for those who need it.

The best decision I ever made, this wasn't my first treatment center but definitely the last. I spent 6 months here and changed my life forever. The program and top notch AA, the staff is unforgettable. This place can change your life too but remember the work is personal. They give you the tools and teach you how to use them its up to you after that. The program invites you to change you just have to be willing. If you had a bad experience maybe you were looking for an exertional change, this is an inside job at the end of the day. Good luck if you in need of help, this is the first step. Highly recommended.

Oh man where can I start haha. Ya know iam from Montana and I was treated equally the same as all . I spent 4-1/2 months tell it was able to come back home and do the real challenge. Before the venture back home the staff was fantastic. But on the real iam now as of 06/06/25 I have 2 yrs in. That would never have ever started my new path with out the hard work from ya all so thank you for trusting in me. Live 24 at a time don't look back and don't go to fast ahead. Cuz 24 is the only thing ya need to work on . Quote from my self love ya all and thaks. Also highly recommend this program cuz it works if you work it

I spent nearly a year in this program. Honestly, I wanted to leave within the first two days—but thanks to Carly’s advice, I decided to stay. At first, I didn’t know anyone, but over time, I found the other patients to be incredibly friendly and supportive, which helped me adjust. The staff was consistently helpful and truly had my best interests at heart. The therapists not only listened but offered valuable perspectives and solutions. They weren’t afraid to give honest, sometimes difficult feedback when it was needed most. The case managers regularly checked in to see how things were going and made sure that anything I needed was taken care of. Their support added another layer of care that made a real difference during my time here. Everyone in the building is genuinely committed to helping you turn your life around for the better. I’m grateful I stayed.

The experience with Never Alone was a breath of fresh air. My 16 year old son completed his journey 11/19 and came home with a whole new perspective on life and his future. His clinical technician Karissa was a wonderful aide in the process dealing with my son. The family sessions were a great opportunity for me, my son and his mom to work on communicating with one another which was hard to accomplish before our sessions but Karissa helped navigate that and allowed us to grow through our sessions. The weekly parent groups were a very helpful resource and tool as well. I appreciate all the support and encouragement the staff at Never Alone gave to my son and salute them for taking their time to guide my son through his journey.

My daughter spent over 2 months at Never Alone on her recovery journey. We can't say enough great things about the staff and the facility. The staff communicated well and provide support for the entire family. They have been the biggest step and help in her recovery, they provided her with tools she can use in her daily life to stay on tack to help cope with hard things that happen in life. She says now that this was the best thing that could have been provided to her while in addiction.

Methadone maintenance is the gold standard for opiate addiction for a reason. This stuff works, in addition I’ll add my counselor Katie is a straight up G. She truly cares about her clients. MCCA new milford has helped me so much in so many aspects of my life. I personally would have never signed myself up for the IOP classes but im glad court mandated me to take them after I got pulled over drunk. Sue is such an amazing counselor and makes you feel comfortable to be able to talk about my issues and be able to work on them. I am a very stubborn person and she helped me realize that some of the things were not right. I still continue to see her once a month even after my program was done. I have recommended a few friends to go see her at MCCA because it could help them better their life and battle with issues just like it happened to me.

My class was court ordered, but it has almost been a blessing in disguise. I’ve learned so much, even though the curriculum they have to read out of and engage with the class, is a bit outdated, Alyssa and Sue still manage to bring the topics up to date to help you relate and retain. Sue, Alyssa and Jess…some of the most compassionate and understanding people you could ever ask and hope for going through this life choice of committing to better not only your health, your mental health. You’re with so many great people. Everyone conquering and learning about themselves and each other together. Hearing that you’re truly not alone, really is a powerful part of healing. My time with MCCA may not have been by my choice, but I am grateful for the tools and personal will power it has given me to be the better version of myself. Sober.
