Riverwalk Ranch Treatment Center
Riverwalk Ranch has truly been a life-changing place for me. When I came here, I was scared, unsure of my future, and unsure of myself. The staff here has shown me that recovery isn’t just possible — it’s something worth fighting for every single day. They treat you with genuine care, compassion, and patience, even on the days when you struggle to believe in yourself.
I’m still learning, growing, and working through things — recovery is not always easy. But being here has given me real tools and real hope. Every therapist, tech, and counselor puts in the effort to help you understand what you’re going through and how to move forward in a healthier way. They celebrate the small victories with you and help you stay strong through the setbacks.
The environment feels safe and supportive — the groups are meaningful, the activities help you reconnect with life, and the structure gives you stability. I’ve met people here who remind me that I’m not alone in this journey, and that has made such a difference.
I’m still pushing through, but for the first time in a long time, I feel like I have a future worth looking forward to. I’m incredibly grateful to Riverwalk Ranch for being a huge part of that hope.
If you’re thinking about getting help — this place can truly give you a new start.

They kicked me out after years of being a perfect patient, and caused me to lose my job.
I'd been going here ,going on, 10 years. Let me tell you, These people don't care about you. Remember that. they assign you a counselor but they really don't care. I've gone years there with no counseling whatsoever. I liked my last councilor Andy, but they really have no say on your personalized treatment.
For almost 10 years I came here. Leveled up fast for passing U. A.s, never missed days, etc. I was Johny on the spot. Never screwed up. Then there was a drastic drop in my attendance around last March after being diagnosed with Long Covid, which brought on severe brain fog, Celiac Disease, and horrible arthritis in my joints. I told the Drs, counselors, and nurses this, who all told me they could see it on paper how if changed suddenly last March, as well as in person. They still took me from the highest level, taking home every 2 weeks and monthly after covid, to level one, pick up everyday, for missed days.
This was after suddenly changing the rules from clean U. A. s to hold level, to attendance being the factor that held your level. Well as you can imagine I missed a hell of a lot more after being made to come daily. My severe brain fog and forgetfulness would cause me to miss days, or come in just in the nick of time. The later caused me to refuse a u. A. Because I had to get to work and was going to be late. They counted this as failing for everything. I would forget about the u.A.s all together and pee before leaving. I used to hold it until I was about to burst before I went because I only went once a month and I can't go on command. It's always been a problem. Well now with the test being random and having to go every day, that would mean I'd have to hold my pee every day until I got there. Well with my brain fog and everything else I would forget. I come in at 10:59 on a Friday and they spring a ua on me, and guess what I did before I left? I peed. Well I try to refuse because I have to go to work and the Dr, Jillian of something, comes out and tells me that if I refuse they'll dose me at the window but won't give me my takehome for the weekend. I mill this over in my head thinking, what kind of sense does that even make, and I get so frustrated with my brain for putting me in this situation, and the Dr for not understanding what's happening with me, even though she acted like she did when we talked about it in her office, that I decide I'm not only going to forfeit my weekend doses, but Ill just leave now.
Remember I've been dealing with the new person that is me for going on a year now. All the forgetfulness, aches and pains, everyone making fun of me for how forgetful I am, hell my wife thought I was cheating on her for months because I'd get lost in stores for hours whereas I used to hate leaving the house! I'm more than frustrated with myself at this point.
Monday after a grueling weekend of detox I come in to get my dose and they tell me I have a u.a. well I didn't expect this because they've already failed me for refusal. I just say ok and sit down. A guy comes and tells me he'll be watching me pee as a new random thing they're doing, I think "right, like the new 2 u.a.s a month thing?" Side note I have never gotten out of line with these people. Ever. Even when I left and didn't dose I left without a word, and I maintain that rep here.
Well I got here at 10:59 and they close at 11. He come and says we'll try tomorrow 30 minutes later because they want to go home. They count that as another failed UA. I come in the next day and they hit me with another " random " ua. But this time I actually was able to get in a couple hours early because I didn't want to be late to work because I'm on my last leg there for being late in the past And I actually have to pee! I go back there to do the test and I guess because the guy standing there breathing down my neck I can't go but I got 2 hours. I wait the whole 2 hours and I can't. I tell them I have to get to work. They don't care. I lose my job. And they kick me out.
Sean McMinn

I don't like the policies or certain rules they have now, I haven't done fentanyl in months and it's still coming up in my UAs because they test for metabolites. They took away my take homes because it kept coming up in the drug screens even though, I know, they could CLEARLY see them going down in the tests but still did it so I'm transferring. They do stuff like this all the time. And don't care. I don't recommend going here at all. Able or another one in the city. Don't go to the rightways

All methadone clinics are NOT the same. I’ve been taking methadone for a long time now; and have been in multiple clinics. If you are wondering if you should try it; my advice to you : ABSOLUTELY. Methadone has saved my life and made it possible for me to actually keep a job, pay my bills and have much healthier relationships.
The one thing I would advise you on is: going to the RIGHT clinic is crucial. You don’t just “dose” at the clinics - there is a counseling component that comes with it ; and many new patients severely underestimate this side to it. And I believe that happens because many of the counselors are mediocre at best. I think they start out with good intentions; and many of them just become burned out. Addicts are a high maintenance group to say the least lol; combine that with huge workloads and long hours ; and you get energy-drained and apathetic counselors. Over my 5 years in treatment I have only found a handful of counselors that rise above it all ; and have contributed immensely to my sustained sobriety . At this McCart clinic I have been blessed with a patient , compassionate and wise counselor that has literally helped me in every aspect of my new life. We don’t just talk about things concerning treatment ; instead he helps me reconcile my sobriety with the new life that being clean has afforded me. I can not tell you how much this has helped me along the way ; he understands that getting sober is important; but that’s just STEP ONE in rebuilding my life (I had always thought that just being sober would fix my life completely- when it didn’t work that way; I would use that disappointment as a relapse tool) my counselor’s name is AC. I have no idea if you can request counselors when you start treatment; but if you can ( or if by luck he is assigned to you) I am here to tell you that your recovery will go smoother and your chance of success will be higher if you have a system of support that can offer you wisdom- or just sometimes help you to see a silver lining in events that you didn’t recognize-
Counseling is only one hour a month - but it’s honestly my most productive hour in that 30 day cycle. If you’re reading this - you CAN do this. Good luck and God bless

I came back to MedMark after 3 years not knowing what to expect, I got AC as a councilor and he has been very helpful and inspirational to my recovery,he really cares about his clients and what he is doing, really goes out of his way to get thing's done and I wouldn't have made it this far without his going above and beyond what is expected.

The door looked like a back door that the employees use. So I go around front, go inside and tell them what I'm there for. And she laughs and said it's around back. I said oh ok, the sign meant for me to go I side that back door. As I'm leaving I can hear her laughing and saying...

PLEASE READ THIS TO THE END. PLEASE.I pray anyone who think about sending their child here sees this and considers what I have to say, I am advocating for the protection of your children. As someone who was here for 7 months as a kid, I implore you to find a different place. I have never in my life been treated so horribly and unfairly than at this place. They straight up told me that telling or reporting anything negative that occurred here to my parents was "manipulation" and that they'd put me on "work detail" for several DAYS if I reported any mistreatment. Think critically. Why would there be so many reports from past children who went here reporting extreme abuse and neglect they suffered here, many of the reports saying the same thing. Think about it, every time a 1 star review happens, multiple 5 star reviews happen. It could be a cover up, with fake accounts.

Prior to going there -I had lost my job and was about to be added to the ranks of the newly homeless (Depending on how you define “ homeless” in some people’s eyes, I would’ve already been there. I had been trying for over 2 years to help my friend get to recovery and everytime there was a closed door at some point of the process.. I came across Sunshine Care Center with absolute defeat written all over me by the time I called them.. and there it was someone willing to not only to be the only other person on my team but to help me navigate what to do who to call how to help my friend with his addiction. I can’t put into words how much it meant to me to find a center that is truly there to help people that cannot help themselves. Beautiful people that work here with beautiful hearts. OT Edwin was the Best! A little hard at times, but balanced with encouragement that challenged my mindset to think in positive terms of what I believed I could do physically.
PT Justin was also very good at tailoring my workouts to accommodate sore muscles rather than charging forward with his original plan. He was very conscious to not over use a strained muscle and possibility risking an injury, but altered my plan to still achieve the goals set.
In reference to OT Edwin & PT Justin, I am amazed with my progress from Monday 8/4 to Friday 8/13!
Nurse on 8/6 (Wed overnight into Thursday AM) had a very unhelpful attitude towards me. It was like I was wasting her time when I asked for her help.
8/7 & 8/8 Nurse Ruth & nurse tech DeeDee were top notch! And great attitudes!
Nurses Karla & Michelle & nurse techs Janie & Lateka were also very good!
Dr. Rega stopped by everyday to ask if there was anything I needed--med adjustments, etc.). After I had been here a week, the bed was leaving a lot to be desired. When she asked me on Friday AM if there was anything she could get me, I half jokingly said a new bed would be nice. Her response was to let her see what she could do. When I returned from therapy at lunch, they delivered a new mattress! And they double stacked the new w/the old one. A major improvement!
