I was there a few years back and it was a very good program enjoyed it and got alot from the programs offered. I am very thankful to them for the services that were offered and the hospitality. If you struggling with an addiction to opiates, and you are tired of being sick and tired, reach out to El Dorado. The staff is amazing and they truly care. I have battled with addiction to opiates since 2004, but since I became a client at El Dorado in June of 2015, I have been able to completely change my life. My counselor Gabe is very helpful, as is the supervisor, the receptionist, and the nurses. Its absolutely nothing like other MAT facilities, and I have been to facilities in Corpus Christi, TX, Houston, TX, Austin, TX, West Palm Beach, FL, and Ft. Lauderdale, FL. When I arrived, I was struggling badly with PTSD and alcohol use. The staff truly helped me get back on track, both mentally and physically. Their focus on trauma made a big difference. I just wish there were more veteran-specific groups available.

Thank you for being there for me, the hospital was so nice, I'm 10 years old btw, I was in the children's unit and it was so cool, at first I was scared. But then, I started to have fun, the food was amazing, activities were just so fun, the other patients were nice funny and cool :) shout out to the girls Alexa, Abigail, lily (or Leo she likes to be called that) and Sara for being my friends while I was there, they were cool patients :) 💕 🫂 I feel much better about myself after attending, the nurses knew my love for south park and she printed a south park color paper and I painted/colored it. It was just so amazing, the docter who visited me every morning was cool he understood me well :) keep up the good word and being such lovely people.

i spent a total of 4 days here; overall i had a great experience! there's a consistent daily schedule, so its very stress free. you get 3 meals a day plus snack, group therapy, and sometimes individual visits with the psychiatrist or therapist. there's activities to do, gym, really good food in the cafeteria, and mostly kind hearted nurses + counselors who take pride in their job. all of the techs do their best to keep a secure environment, yes sometimes rules may be "annoying," but everything is done in the best interest of the safety of the patients. dr. agapito, juan, rebecca, (and more) were all such amazing staff. my time here is something i'll cherish for the rest of my life. the only things i disliked was some rude behavior from a few nurses to other patients; i understand the work is frustrating at times, but it IS in your job to have compassion. there was also some pretty obvious favoritism that bothered me, because every patient is struggling and deserves the same amount of empathy, especially in an environment like this. other than that though, definitely a great place! they help you adjust and provide mostly everything you need, i'd recommend to anyone. :)

Original review 1 star: They never answer the phone, their auto attendant is a test message, and they don't return messages.
Edit: I ended up going into the office myself and speaking to a counselor. I proceeded to complete phase 1 and 2 here. Amazing experience. Don't know if they fixed the phone issue, but the councilors are incredible. Adrian, Monica, and Steven made a great impact in my recovery journey. Thank you all so much. 5 stars 🤩

They will work with your work schedule as well. I'm assuming the bad reviews are from those who didn’t give this place a chance or someone who had one bad experience. I have been with Tropical for 7 years now. I know it was a bit much for me at the beginning, but give it a chance; you’ll learn to grow as you seek the help you need. You’ll get to see how much these doctors do care, and they are doing their best to help you. Of course, like all hospitals and offices, it will be busy, and that’s not their fault, and they can only do so much, so I say come by and see for yourself if you're experiencing mental health issues. My doctor is nice; he cared for my sickness and had someone check my stomach. My psychiatrist is nice. I recommend anyone. Don’t listen to these bad comments; trust me. Seek your own opinion. I honestly don’t understand what these people want from a behavioral health facility. When they do all they can, everyone gets busy, and when they don’t answer your call, big deal; call them back. I’ve read these ridiculously bad comments.

Wow, I'm speechless!!
Some of these statements and comments are disturbing and they bring doubts into my mind!
But I have to say quite the opposite! The day I called I was in a crisis and TTBH -Weslaco, kicked it into hi gear and I was given an appointment for intake and placement of services right the next day! And yes I even got a call back at 20:20 pm that same evening the operative asked and wanted to know how I felt and if I needed any help or if I was still presently in crisis! Then the next morning again I got a phone call at 0830 am, from another operative wanting to know if I was okay? Her call I missed because I didn't pick up, I thought it was a misc. call!
But I made it to my appointment and I got the Red Carpet Treatment!! DR m when I walked into the building till when I left at 17:15 pm, I felt like they cared and I was their #1 priority!! They even had transportation for me from one of the supervisors who does that for a complete strangers!? I'll tell you who, Texas Tropical Behavioral Health -Weslaco!
So, Idk and I'm not speaking for anyone else but myself! I'm going to give TTBH -WESLACO, a chance and I'm going to stick with them and my LOC plan! And if there is something I don't like I'm sure we can talk about it like civilized individuals!!
