This place will gaslight you and then discharge you without a second thought, they never tried to reach out although knowing I struggle constantly with bad thoughts, they released me knowing I need help and they gave me a diagnosis that never happened, could not keep a therapist for longer than a few months before having to restart again and again, could not get appointments when I'm in crisis and need urgent help. They abandon you. Don't bother.

So after coming from another facility a few years ago (had to take a break from the drama of the previous place), this one is a bit better. I get one-on-one with my therapist, (which I'm on my 3rd there now, but that's fine as all staff has been awesome, and I DON'T have to repeat myself!) and sans the rooms being fairly small, at least my therapist focuses on me and is genuinely interested in how I am feeling, while giving me tools to help.

Thanks to ABHS I'll have 1 year clean January 2nd, this place has its pros and cons but that's anywhere you go. Only thing that I would improve would be installing a few more phones on each floor 100 people fighting over 6 phones kinda sucked. Other than that The food was good and the staff were pretty cool.

I attended inpatient tx here in April 2019, after I caught 3 new charges alongside 3 active warrants from Mason, Lewis and Cowlitz counties. My attorney informed me I was ineligible for Drug Court, but encouraged me to try DOSA, and that ABHS in Chehalis was about to become co-ed. Upon my release, my best friend helped me pack a couple suitcases and even bought me stuff to last the 91-180 day time frame required for res DOSA. I called the facility to notify them I would be late due to a dead car battery; They were very understanding and thanked me for keeping them updated, and assured me I wouldn't be in trouble for my delayed arrival. I was finally able to show up at around 10 p.m., and every member of the care team warmly welcomed me and helped take my bags upstairs. Everyone involved in my intake was remarkably polite and friendly. They described what day-to-day life would look like, and led me through a comprehensive tour of the unit. During the inventory process, a few items I brought, like hair conditioner and hand sanitizer, were not allowed due to past abuse by clients to get intoxicated, which was reasonable. Each of my belongings was meticulously recorded on two separate lists in front of me: one for items I could keep and use, and another for items that had to be securely stored. Afterwards I completed a baseline UA, and they also conducted random UAs throughout our stays, especially when staff or other clients suspected potential use or intoxication, to ensure no one was high and no drugs were being used, countering the claims of "widespread drug use" from other reviewers on here. Our daily schedule was well-organized, starting with coffee at 4:30 AM and breakfast at 6 AM. The day's first Therapeutic Community (TC) meeting at 8 AM served as an update session where achievements were acknowledged, any issues were addressed, and motivational talks were given to energize us for the day ahead. At 9 AM, we alternated between group sessions with our counselors or study periods in the cafeteria, depending on our counselor's schedule. Lunch was at 11:30 AM, then at 1 PM we would either listen to one of the counselors/guest speaker, or we would have a free period. Dinner was at 4:30 PM, and the last TC meeting wrapped up the day at 6 PM, where we welcomed new intakes and congratulated graduates. Throughout the day, we were allowed two 15-minute phone calls, with daily sign up sheets with slots in quarter hour increments to ensure fair usage. On the weekends, we could have in person visits with people on our approved lists for up to 3 hours. Individual meetings with counselors were part of our treatment plans, which could span up to four levels depending on entry into the program; Level I completion is necessary for self admitted clients (BHO), level III for Drug Court and DOC clients, and level IV for DOSA. We had a movie room with a long list of titles, a giant TV screen with cable in the cafeteria, went to parks, did smudging and art projects. They also took us to DSHS and DOL. There is a dress code, and interactions with the opposite sex are prohibited to prevent "fraternization". Rooms were shared, with options for mattress or room changes if needed, and personal belongings were kept in large secured trunks. Medication requests were available via video visits with doctors, and whenever the whole floor got perfect room check scores, we got rewards like snacks or extra breaks. The head chef "Mama"'s meals were a highlight of everyone's days. I remember I asked her what her favorite part of the job was and she told me, " Seeing people gradually become healthier and happier over their stays here, and being able to provide the food to nourish them. That's why I put so much love into everything I make." All the staff, counselors, esp mine Ms. Baldwin, along with program directors Mr. Berry and Mr. Robinson, made it beneficial and enjoyable. I successfully completed DOSA May 2021! I deducted 1 star due to maintenance issues like broken showers and they frosted the windows which prevented us from seeing outside.

My time at Royal Life Sumner was a great experience overall. The building is a little run down (showers temp fluctuate, creaky loud floors) and they seem to run short on supplies (cups, snacks, etc) a bit too frequently. But the staff far and away redeems this place in my eyes. They were by and large extraordinary, truly. A couple of them left a wonderful impression on my heart that will last a very long time.
Occasionally, a few staff members can be a pissy toward you should you choose to sit out a meeting, legitimate reasons or not. This approach really bothers me. Their heart is in the right place, but c’mon- with the staff being mostly addicts in recovery they should know better, in my opinion. You can’t force recovery on someone. Progress rather than perfection right?
From what I’ve gathered about the principles of recovery, you should greet newcomers with open arms and free of judgement lest you ward them off. Makes you wonder if these certain peeps understand the basic principles they claim to stand behind. Counterproductive. Anyways, I’ve beat that horse into the ground. that was only a handful of them though, overall the vast majority of the staff members were extraordinary. They offered valuable insight, joke around, and help guide you to the best of their ability, the heart to heart private talks with a few of them left an impression on me that will last a long long time. I was touched by their kindness. Recommended.

Honestly I was nervous just to do detox because I thought I'd be locked down in a room but they have games and activities like tai chi, yoga, going to the gym and the food is great! I eat 3 meals a day and get these golden opportunities to have more life into me instead of me thinking to use. I was going to stay for 7 days but im doing 21! Then going to another 12 week program to better my living situation and start fresh with other people that you spend time with!

Staff was very polite and respectful. Made sure I had everything I wanted with in reason of their boundaries and rules. Food was spectacular. And they offer a snack bar 24/7. had coffee first thing in the morning every morning. Get TV with YouTube available in rooms. And they set you up when you go home. I am so sad writing this I absolutely have had the best experience here I’ve always felt heard, I’ve always had a great experience till today I have never missed anything I was supposed to do and today I drove another 120 miles after going yesterday for a dose evaluation I am required a yearly ekg already done but the new guy decided he wanted another ekg I do it as always my anxiety messes it up, after being there 3 hours I’m now stuck in traffic for 3 hours as the freeway is shut down I just feel helpless and I have came so far this feeling is devastating 6 hours and I’m still 2 hours from home, but Colina and Chantel at reception are rockstars they go above and beyond for every client, Jamie is such a caring supportive counselor, the front staff are funny and helpful, Courtney has always treated me well as a client and person, the UA staff are always nice and respectful all in all I really don’t want to change clinics I just don’t ever want to feel so helpless again

The counselors, the receptionist team, the nurses, The bodyguards everybody that works within this clinic is exceptional. family oriented friendly people. if you have a question, they're there to answer it and they will. they will treat you the same as them. everybody that goes in that clinic are the same people because we are all addicts. we are all addicts looking for help. you do need a very close support person during this transitioning someone who is on the outside of this clinic who you are with all the time and will lift you up and guide you and give you the the helping hand that you need during this time. so like if you're having help with your addiction going through this clinic and you fall and you think you're going to do drugs again, get that person that's close to you that you can trust that's going to tell you call your counselor. that's what they're there for. you can go through steps. throw this Cal clinic and you can get gift cards, gas cards, rewards different things like that for doing good through this clinic. so it's not like you're going there and you're not rewarding yourself. you are very much rewarding yourself through different ways through the clothing bank, the food bank everything even you can make new friends going through this clinic. they're just such wonderful, great people that work in this clinic and I would send my closest anybody who needs help to go there

I’ve been to pretty much every methadone clinic in Pierce County, and most of them are frustrating. It takes forever to get dose increases, and some require an EKG every 20 mg, which just slows everything down and makes the process miserable.
This place is completely different—hands down the best clinic I’ve been to. They allow dose increases of up to 20 mg per day if needed, and the intake process only took about an hour. Yes, you do have to go in daily at first (about 13 days), but it’s straightforward and worth it.
After about a month, I was already eligible for weekly take-homes, which was way easier than I expected. I’m already up to 160 mg, and the whole process has been smooth and supportive.
Best clinic in Washington, no question. Highly recommend.

It's been almost two years since I have graduated from here. March 2024. At first I fought the system, just like almost everyone who starts out here. But give it a shot. They care IMMENSELY about you. They want you to succeed and give you every tool to. You do have to do it yourself, but you don't have to do it alone. They help you and teach you how to take accountablity for yourself, they tell you when you mess up, then they then you how you can fix it. They give you everything you need to be successful, you just have to be ready for it. If you are ready to take control of your life back, learn how to be successful, kick those debilitating habits, come here where they love you, teach with compassion and show you how to love yourself. 10/10. I know people have had mixed reviews about Seamar after looking at the comments, but here's the truth. If YOU are READY to make a REAL change in your life and change EVERYTHING you're gonna love it here. The staff is extremely helpful and will help you in ANY way they can.... if you open your mouth and ask.... imagine that. If you don't say anything nothing is going to change and you'll be miserable the whole time. If you are truly there for yourself and communicate with your counselor openly and with honestly you will start to notice an extreme difference. I struggled with addiction for 17 years, first with alcohol and then graduated to opiods and meth and if I didn't stop using fentanyl it was gonna kill me. In 8 days I will have 3 months sober, which might not seem like much to anyone else, but for the people that know and love me it's the longest I've been clean since I was 17 years old. My counselor was known as the "hard ass" because she expected her clients to come in and actually want to turn their lives into one they can be proud of, and she was able to call out whoever, whenever, they were trying to pull some sneaky bull shit. I can HONESTLY say, with my counselor Patty I wouldn't be where I'm at today. She was the first person who looked at me like I was a person with a real shot at a future and not the junkie I've always been classified as. Coming in I was broken and honestly didn't know if I'd be able to stick with sobriety, without Patty, and seamar I wouldn't have been able to get into a regular routine and I wouldn't have started working the steps so that I could see that the problem wasn't the drugs or alcohol, the problem started with me and I can only fix it if I start working on myself before anything else. This was long, sorry, long story short: If you want to get sober and stay sober I suggest coming to Seamar and trying something you've never done before. It's a lot harder to stay sober than it is to choose a bottle or drugs.

I attended here back in the summer and they worked a miracle on me because I am still sober and still have the desire to become the best version of myself. All of the counselors are absolutely amazing. I find myself missing their lessons and talks with them pretty often. They give you homework that I think truly helps you heal parts of yourself you didn’t believe needed healing. All of the staff is very kind, the food is AWESOME, campus is very pretty. You’re able to have people send you care packages which is nice if you forgot or need something while you’re there. Come with an open mind and heart and I promise you will leave a different person than who walked in there. Only thing is definitely bring your own pillow, lol. MISS YOU COWLITZ STAFF 💕

Ok at first I give them a 1 star I was being reviewd by women ! They had no f’n clue !
As soon as I got a man things picked up ! However still not where I need to be almost a year in my dose is still not powerful enough so I have to take double or even tripple the amount to still barley feel it working !
The result a lot of wasted time running out early I mean it sorta sucks ! However my psychiatrist is pretty good actually I like him a lot however it seems like it’s taken forever to get me on the right dosage for my Adderall. Hopefully this will change because month supply last a half a month and I don’t feel it working. Life is too short to be not feeling the way I’m supposed to feel and get my projects accomplished, I guess if you really need it you hardly feel it. Well, I guess that’s my case so we get a four star

My life has basically turned upside down in the past couple months. I don’t know where I’d be without IOP group therapy. The support is very needed. I’m still struggling but learning to deal with my mental stability in new ways. Depression and anxiety have nearly brought me down, but because of the therapists at Providence Mental Health, I feel better about going forward. I still have a ways to go, but feel like I’m doing better through this program.
