My loved one has had a positive experience with the Hazelden Betty Ford Minnesota program and likes the treatment. I’m giving 4.5 stars because of concerns about insurance and financial communication. During his first stay, he was approached about unexpected costs within his first few days, despite asking that they contact me. Unfortunately, I was not contacted, and the added uncertainty contributed to him deciding to come home within a week. I recommend families to know the insurance criteria needed to cover this type of treatment, also assign a person handle financial matters and be prepared for coverage to sometimes be authorized in short 5–7 day increments. Fortunately, he made the decision to return to Hazelden, and this time he has stayed and is now almost finished with this phase of the program. We are incredibly grateful to have gotten him back into treatment and are very happy to be getting ready to welcome him home. We know recovery is a process that will continue for months and beyond, but we feel much better prepared for that next chapter. I especially want to recognize the counselors and care team. They have been compassionate, engaged, and genuinely invested in his recovery. They have helped prepare him for returning home and worked with him on a continuing-care plan. Their communication and support have made a meaningful difference for our entire family. Overall, we are grateful for the care he received and for the progress he has made. I hope this review helps other families prepare for the insurance process while also recognizing the people at Hazelden who work so hard to support patients and their families.

I ended up here after a rough day (a.k.a. life). Ten beds, mostly residents recovering from alcohol or drug use. Rooms are spacious and clean. Food was decent, incredibly large portions. Staff was kind, caring, and genuine. The big guy who checked me in thanked me for being there. I don’t have family or friends, and that simple kindness meant more than he probably knew. I was no a fan of the psychiatrist. He seemed offended when I asked if he would coordinate with my regular psychiatrist about my meds. When I said I wasn’t sleeping, he said they do 15-minute checks and I was, which made me feel like my honesty was being questioned. My discharge notes didn’t reflect what I meant when answering questions about self-harm, and I left feeling unheard and invalidated.

I was just there for a week and they make it feel like such a safe place for patients and it definitely felt safe to me. Also the nurses and doctors are very good at what they do and are so open so you can tell them anything. They are all so great at what they do. I appreciate them all, all the ones I’ve met there. Definitely recommend!!

I graduated from The Shakopee Haven in December 2022. This place changed my life for the better. I owe a lot to my Counselor Chris for not giving up on me. He gave me so many tools to use in life after treatment to continue to stay clean. He always told me I had the ability to restore and rebuild with my children if I stay clean. I wish we had more programs like this available in the area. They truly care about children/teens and their well-being. I only have experience with the Amery location but this program was life-changing for us and our child. You have to put in the work though, and be open to receiving outside feedback. I have heard mixed reviews from parents but I think it mostly depends on how you "embrace" the program and try to support your child by learning about their mental health. I gave 4/5 stars only because nobody is perfect.

I know this is a really late review but My treatment was back in August of 2019 and the staff were great and they were really help full and they really help me get back on track with my life and get my mental health good and stable to good back out in to the community and the cooking staff were really good the food was really good and the staff really helped help me with my anger issues and helped me manage them better and the staff were just so helpful and the nurses were really nice to when they handed out my medication and my teacher was really helpful and nice to he was fun to we played a lot of games so I just want to thank you staff for helping me get my life and my mental health back together and stable to be able to go out in to the community and really appreciate and in joy what you staff help me with when I did my 30 days there thank you so much 💕❤️💕💕💕❤️❤️❤️💕💕💯💯💯💯💯

I am finally giving this a review roughly 8 years after I left that 30 day transition program. Let’s be honest here, there was some rough moments while I was being assessed but that’s to be expected, why? Because everyone has different needs and working in that type of field, dealing with troubled kids, can be a difficult job. Here are my pros and cons. KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS REVIEW WAS FROM ROUGHLY 8 YEARS AGO. Cons: 1) I remembered a staff trimming her nails in the cafeteria while we were having breakfast and to me. It seems like some staff back in the day, worked there just for the convenience. 2) I was treated poorly by other patients in my group because they assumed false things about me. 3) The way they disciplined misbehaved kids was a bit cruel. After they restrained them, they would put them in a concrete room with pads full of (maybe memory foam). Each kid was told to sit on the pad (in the middle of the room) and calm down. There was a security camera in that room for safety, while there was a staff standing outside the room. There was a window high enough for the staff to peek into the room. I personally was in that room a few times and it felt horrible. The only positive thing that came out of that room was being on the other side, being with the group and feeling safe that the misbehaved kid wasn’t with our group for X amount of time. PRO: 1) I learned what essential oils were and how useful they are to help calm the mind. I remembered a nighttime staff going out of her way to find a specific essential oil for me that was in a different part of the building, so that I can smell it throughout the night and relax during a tough time. 2) I remembered friendly compititions, popsicle stick catapults, street hockey and other friendly compititions where the winner gets one free meal from subway 3) I learned that photography is a great coping skills as well as essential oils. 4) despite having some issues with some other patients, I got a long with other patients. 5) We went to the Burch Barn to do the corn maze 6) we also went to the ecomart to grab some marshmallow fluff 7) despite feeling like some staff are working there for the convenience, I feel like the majority of the staff there are working to help misbehave kids. 8) Staff are very observant and responsive towards misbehaved kids and things that might develop. Q) Why are you posting this review now and not years ago A) I am posting this review now because I feel like I have reached my peak at changing. I will admit, it has taken years to change my behavior and learn how to live my life with my new behavior. I am in college for photography and this year is my first year as a freelance photographer. I have reached so many milestones this year, I feel like I have changed who I was and became a better person, with help from Northwest Passage. I recommend this place to families with stuggling kids because even though I have had some negative experience at this place, I genuinely feel like they want to help those kids develop helpful skills as well as helping families too.

I have had the luxury of meeting 2 of the therapist here, Amanda and Val. Both have helped me significantly. Its hard to find a good therapist and when you do its worth the effort. I have been working with Val for a little while and we have a great connection. I feel like Im getting the help I desperately needed and was not able to find elsewhere. I highly recommend this place. When it comes to therapy in general, finding a good fit is up to the individual and it may vary person to person. I feel blessed to have 2 for 2 at this place.

Having been here for over 10 years I can tell you there’s not a better place to go, without Valhalla (BHG) I wouldn’t be able to thrive and live a normal life which I’ve been able to do. My daughter recently attended this rehab facility where she stayed for approximately 45 days. This is her 1st time @ Truly wanting & getting sober 💯%. She tells every1 great things about the people there @ meadow Creek who's lives & testimonials were so Very helpful. Major Thanks 2 the people that Truly Care 4 her & helped with teaching her the tools 2 maintain sobriety. Apparently they also serve Really Good food which is Definitely Awe-sum. Wow! What a journey. Please take this seriously for those in addition or wanting to recover! I went here during covid season 2020 when I got my DUI. I was regretting it, didn't take it seriously, etc. I did my month time stay there. Went home continued with addiction cause I still didn't care. After mother's day weekend on 05.09.22 was my first day of sobriety. I'm still sober to this day. Let me tell you what, I've had the most fantastic experiences and time of my life sober! Looking back, wish I'd took things seriously. I even got off probation this year in June. I wasn't supposed to get off until November next year 2024. I mean God's work is honestly a blessing and you definitely feel him working thru you. I remember starting out here at this place, they said "higher power" and I'm like naw, I don't got that. Not even my kids. Oh yeah, God is my highest power! This place is amazing! Trust me! Great staff, food, location, etc! Just please get help! It's not worth your life ending on bad terms! I will never go back to that life style. Sobriety is just the coolest 😎 Lord the energy you have, stability, motivation, passion to keep striving and going in life! Yes!! No more laziness! It's just nice! Thank to this place and the DUI was a huge lesson I needed to kick my rear end into gear! Let's keep going! SOBRIETY ROCKS! SOBRIETY IS THE COOLEST 😎

Just got home from Burkwood yesterday! Definitely recommend them. The counselors are rough but that’s because they care. I’ve been to treatment before, however this time learned way more than I ever have. The nursing staff is knowledgeable and helpful. While the doctor only comes on Wednesday she is amazing. And don’t let me forget the cooks Bret and Val! They are definitely top notch! Thank you everyone at Burkwood!

If you are looking to be the best version of yourself, you have found it!!! Burkwood is a Tony Robins style boot camp. This centered based program is a master class on recovery, in my opinion, it's the one place you can really start over and begin the change so desperately needed for the road to recovery!!! The staff at Burkwood is second to none. The RA's and nurse's understand you and are amazing people!!! The cooks created fantastic food (Michelin Star grade) three squares and dessert!!! Also snacks on deck😉 The counselors are fantastic and each has a unique experience which gives better perspective on your journey! You can really emerse yourself in the program if you keep an open mind, don't get in your own way, and mind your bobber. With the community, you will feel like family, not only with the clients but the staff as well! People really care here and you will feel it! The comrodary you may not have known you needed is here and helps you become healthy, not only for yourself but in relationships and life over all. The best version of yourself is waiting to be realized!! Everyone I know has congratulated my achievements since graduating this program. I have no regrets and a much clearer pathway to my goals in recovery. After here, life really begins!

I got sober at Transformation House in Fridley 4 years ago. Been sober ever since. My husband got sober at the men’s when it was in Anoka. (We got sober together) he’s also still sober and 4 years clean. We both loved the program it helped us in so many ways. I recommend transformation house to many people. I’m not sure what it’s like now, but when I was there it was great. The best part was the family like setting they had there. The sisterhood was something special. 🙂

I am an alumni, I am from Anoka so after my terrible experience at (the old) River place in Anoka, I went to Transformation house. 8 actually went there a few times , only completed it one time though. I couldn't tell you today how the program is TBH, but back when Betty was the owner (R.I.P.) and when Brian was the head councilor, and Angel was one of the cooks and Natalie was one of the technicians.... Back than that place really helped me out. They were so patient with me, they gave me the opportunity to get whatever I want out of it. Which really is like most places. Whatever you put into it you will get out of it. I hope and pray that the love and care Betty had for people in recovery lives on through Shiloh Ministries (Transformation house)

I can't say enough good things about Transformation House. My experience here was a night and day difference from my previous treatment center. My counselor was incredible – so empathetic and understanding, which made it easier to be honest and work through things. The entire staff genuinely cares about your well-being. It's clear they're not just going through the motions. What I appreciated most was that they focused on helping me find the right path forward, even after I left. The outpatient program they connected me with was fantastic. Today, I'm proud to say I've graduated, I'm in college, I have a job, and most importantly, I have my kids back in my life. My advice to anyone going to Transformation House is to be honest with yourself and your counselor, and truly commit to the process. Stop making excuses and put in the work – they will meet you where you are and provide the support you need. I also built some strong connections with the other women there. The staff creates a supportive environment, but ultimately, your willingness to change is key. Transformation House truly changed my life, and I'm incredibly grateful for how far I've come.

The people here are genuine and so welcoming and welcome newcomers with open arms the intake process is super tedious and long and takes 3 to 4 hours but it’s so so so worth it!!!!! no regrets choosing to come here I promise you will feel the same I can’t say one bad thing about this place at all.
