Kathy Javis, the owner of this amazing place, found me at a time in life when I was on the verge of giving up. A time when I was lost and didn't know where to turn. I was hopeless, ashamed, terrified....defeated. Kathy listen to me. She heard me. Care cared about me. She stood by my side as I was mauled over by life. When I felt like giving up she was there to remind me how far I had come and she kept my mind focused on the rewards. Kathy was able to see the person I was inside and she looked passed the person who was addicted. I was with Kathy for nearly 4 years of my life. She helped me through the pain of what I now know was abuse. She helped me find my confidence back, she helped me find reasons to smile. She taught me to stand up for myself and helped me with setting boundaries, she taught me that I didn't have to live in fear. Because of Kathy, today I am happier than I ever knew was possible. There are no words to empress my gratitude to her. She saved my life and she saved my daughters' lives. She gave me the gift of a lifetime. This kind of gift is rare. 2 months into the 3 month program I requested to be transfered to another counselor. Instead of transferring me they discharged me and said I'm welcome to start over. Money hungry greedy program, worst iop I've been to. If you need help go somewhere else. They are neglectful of their duties and the groups are a joke, feels muddled together with no effort.

Mistreated and not listened to at all. Was judged and flagged over medication that was prescribed to me 8 years ago from a doctor from mayo clinic with a PhD. I was judged over this medication that was prescribed to me rather than helped or diagnosed with actual symptoms or problems that are occuring in my life. Horrible service and would not recommend.

This place just keeps going downhill over the years especially since Nystrom took over. The better therapists have left then you get paired up with someone new and fresh out of graduating who has minimal engagement in the session and has no response to trauma after you tell them what you’ve been through, and just has a look on their face as if “you went through that?” Every time I call in it goes to someone in the Madison office who are clueless and they have absolutely no idea who the therapists are for Eau Claire. I have gotten, is this person in HR? Is this person in Madison? The hold times are 8-10 minutes, ridiculous! And then when you finally reach someone in Eau Claire, there always seems to be a high turnover and a new person answering and a new person at the front desk. Time to find a new place! Do not come here!

i was there on commitment for 3 months in summer 2023 and it was great! (well, as good as it could’ve been given my circumstances). i made a lot of friends and there was a given a lot of freedom. we got free time and were allowed to leave the house. most rooms were only 1 bed, but if you were placed in a 2 bed room you could make a request to switch. we went to the lake all the time. we went to places around the city. groups weren’t that long and food was served to us every meal. there was a bedtime, but you could still be on your phone in bed. if you were in your room for a long time, they did checks every hour. they did this throughout the night as well, meaning staff was there 24/7. i would’ve rated this 5 stars, but it’s only 4 because i swear to god that house was haunted. but overall great place!!

Fresh Start is the best treatment center I've ever experienced. I love everything about it. The counselors are awesome. Had a great time there and met lots of new friends. I love the location also lots of parks and everything you need all downtown duluth. The food is awesome.

This was my second time receiving treatment at Hazelden, and I truly felt a deeper sense of connection and growth this time (quality of service improved since last time ) This time, working with my counselor “nas” made a big difference in my experience. He showed great understanding, professionalism, and sensitivity while addressing my addiction challenges. His approach was thoughtful and respectful, and I always felt safe and heard during our sessions. Really loved the mental health part and mental health professionals!! I’ve learned so much about myself, and I’m proud to say I’m now two months sober.

If you are looking for better care, do not go to this clinic. This is the worst clinic I have ever been to. The staff is unhelpful and they do not listen to patients’ needs or concerns. I felt neglected and unsupported the entire time. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

While this clinic is usually exceptional, Erin Benedict treated me like a junkie today when I visited Urgent Care with severe pain from an orthopedic condition. My regular doctor of 8 years is with this clinic but she was out today. I brought proof of my condition and the last procedure I had for it. She was insensitive and disrespectful at a time when I needed medical care.

Extortionist billing practices.
Went in for annual check up. The doctor asked me about an existing issue that I'm seeing someone else for. I asked him a simple question about side effects of the existing issue and we had a five minute conversation resulting in an answer of "I don't know, I can write you a referral to see someone. I don't charge for referrals". So I got a referral.
M Health then bills me over $500 for a medium complexity visit billed for 30-39 minutes.
Of course I disputed this, and of course the found there wasn't an error in billing.
Skip this place if you value honest business practices and your own money. This place is a scam.

I can't say enough good things about Transformation House. My experience here was a night and day difference from my previous treatment center. My counselor was incredible – so empathetic and understanding, which made it easier to be honest and work through things. The entire staff genuinely cares about your well-being. It's clear they're not just going through the motions.
What I appreciated most was that they focused on helping me find the right path forward, even after I left. The outpatient program they connected me with was fantastic. Today, I'm proud to say I've graduated, I'm in college, I have a job, and most importantly, I have my kids back in my life.
My advice to anyone going to Transformation House is to be honest with yourself and your counselor, and truly commit to the process. Stop making excuses and put in the work – they will meet you where you are and provide the support you need. I also built some strong connections with the other women there. The staff creates a supportive environment, but ultimately, your willingness to change is key. Transformation House truly changed my life, and I'm incredibly grateful for how far I've come.

Key things that set Lake Place apart from the others:
1. Fishing/Outdoors: having access to the lake with paddle boats or fish houses 6 days a week. It's a great bass/northern/crappie lake! I caught many 4-5 lbs! They buy any bait you want!
2. 90 days program generally - but you can stay longer if you need to. Some stay almost a year.
3. Woodshop. Yup.
The owner is the most kind and generous man I've met. Dennis, who is still involved to my knowledge. He eats dinner with us and hosts a group once a week.
The counselors are all great. They are a lot of fun and very helpful.
If you like camp fires, s'mores, frisbee golf, hiking, or the woodshop this is the place.

I spent 5 months here in the dead of winter. The staffing were marvelous and far ahead of any rehab center anywhere, thats my opinion. The entire staff always went above and beyond. Thanks to a Sapper for Director and Hall of Famer and great Psychologist I improved my life without measure. I should have thanked you long ago. You got the full process. My experience attending treatment at this facility is what saved my life. I was welcomed judgement free from day one and was treated with the upmost care for my entire stay. The staff only saw me for my potential instead of seeing me only for my past mistakes. I was given individualized care which challenged me to grow and take accountability for my past actions. Over my 45 day stay, I worked closely with all the staff and was provided with excellent support and education on my disease. They loved me until I was able to love my self. Thanks to the hardworking and supportive staff at Phoenix House I now have 4.5 years clean. I have been working as a Recovery Coach for the past 3 years and have just passed the exam to become a Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor. The likelihood of me being where I am at today would be shockingly low, if not zero, if not for my time spent at Phoenix House.
