I love my councilors I had over the years and the staff was and is so polite and supportive. I have never been arrested and I figured it would be really hard to be a dad while in active addiction. That was in 2001. I've moved around to different places, Gadsden, Trussville, Tuscaloosa and others. I really loved the people in Tuscaloosa and hated leaving. I had to return to the Oxford area, to help with my mom who was terminal with cancer. When I transferred back to Oxford they were great. I loved the staff. At one point they were down to a skeleton crew, they did the best they could at the time with what they had. They have gotten more staff now and they are wonderful. I don't feel like my number so much. Yes, they are strict on the rules but look at what they deal with. I can manipulate just about anyone as an active addict. We all have that power. I am NOT one of them! This facility is well laid out, and the staff is efficient and helpful. I had one glitch with their optometry department, but otherwise, no issues in 2+ years of going here. What they cannot do, they refer out for Community Care, or suggest the Birmingham VA. Despite Birmingham being nearly 2 hours each way, it’s been worth the trip each of the 2 times I went there. Unless I move, I will continue to go to this clinic, and I’ll recommend it. I appreciate the staff there each time I visit. Wingate were the best people & care I have received military or civilian that I can even remember. My anxiety was in full blown mode and April made me feel so understood and she was such a comfort. And B. Wingate made me feel heard and understood and set up all test, meds and referrals that were needed. I feel extremely bless to have had these two taking care of me and can not stress enough how quick , efficient and KIND they both were. The ladies at the front desk were beyond helpful as well getting my future appointments schedule before I left. I have nothing but good things to say for Oxford VA Clinic! They used to close at 11am and sometimes would lock the door at 10:45am, but this doesn't seem to be the case now. Everything runs so smoothly here these days I'm happy to report. But go ahead and assume the 11:45am is the last possible time. The time for picking up take-home doses has also changed from a year ago, and it is now until 12pm as well Monday thru Friday. Im thinking that the hours they have listed, which is 5am to 1pm, might be the working hours of nurses and counselors. But it does not refer to dosing hours. The facility really likes to make sure that everyone is fed properly, with three excellent meals and three snack times each day. The staff was excellent attending to each individual needs and will work with each person in the best way they can. You'll also expirence a very entertaining staff that will joke with you and play around with you, making your stay a very pleasant one, definitely if you are the shy introvert that I use to be. The facility health providers/caregivers will also care and listen to you, making it a very safe place to open up and let out any problems your going through that much eaiser to cope with. One of the best was Charlie who came up with multiple ways to share your expirence/thoughts and come up with the necessary requirements to help advance to the next stages of your life, hearing each individual out and relating to them, also allowing people to stay outside longer with multiple fun activities, that allow more room for people to get out of their shell and meet/open up to the individuals who were also there to heal and prosper. Also be on the look out for one individual that will play,👌 with you a very entertaining way to keep you on you toes. (For those who don't know it's a game, that you show 👌 below the waist, and if you look at this hand signal you've been got.) FOR ANYONE!! Who does go to this facility you should participate and get him for me, but beware he is always on his toes, so it's very difficult to do so. Overall I give my stay and the staff a 10/10. Everyone on staff treated him well and encouraged him on getting sober. Even after he successfully completed his time there they remained in contact to ensure he had all the support outside of there as well. My son chose to be there for all the right reasons and worked the program to ensure he would learn and recover. I can never thank the bridge and Dr. King enough in helping my son. I went there twice but my first time i didn’t really care and was just doing the time and i knew i was going to do the same. I was only out for like 30 days then i had overdosed. When i had to go to court I had requested to go back because they were having a new program called oud/vega then the judge agreed to it. At first it was really rough because i was in pain and having headaches from the overdosed so i was waiting to go home then it hit me and i was talking more with my counselor and they helped me out a lot. Now i’m doing so much better i’m off probation and got a job. I’m sober now and i’m only 18 and i’m about to have my own house. I was only there for 5-ish days my first time, but the second time I was there, I stayed for 84 days. I have a few complaints about the quality of the facility, but my chief reason for reviewing was to praise the staff. Certain staff members were kind enough to essentially make me their own children. Quite a few staff members provided myself and other patients, who couldn't get hygiene items from family, with hygiene and clothing. There are a few bad apples, but for the most part, this staff truly does care about their patients. Dr. Shehi and Dr. Shehi Jr. are especially full of compassion for the patients in their care. Lana Riter 2 months ago Dr Grant is the most famous doctor I’ve ever met and he knows exactly what he’s doing. Thank goodness for Dr Grant more people should come to see him and check him out and he is a doctor better than any other doctor I’ve ever seen in my entire life. He is even better better than my medical doctor. Dr Grant is number one. No one else can beat him. I’ve been around for years and never seen a doctor so smart and honest and kind to me. I really appreciate him. Maybe he will get a big raise paid vacation ham and turkey plus a gold medal on his wall. The people that works for dr Grant are very professional people. They are very kind people who love me and care about me and my sister like dr Grant does. I appreciate yall family. There is a very kind lady who works hard in dr Grant office who loves everyone and helps them out.
