The facility really likes to make sure that everyone is fed properly, with three excellent meals and three snack times each day. The staff was excellent attending to each individual needs and will work with each person in the best way they can. You'll also expirence a very entertaining staff that will joke with you and play around with you, making your stay a very pleasant one, definitely if you are the shy introvert that I use to be. The facility health providers/caregivers will also care and listen to you, making it a very safe place to open up and let out any problems your going through that much eaiser to cope with. One of the best was Charlie who came up with multiple ways to share your expirence/thoughts and come up with the necessary requirements to help advance to the next stages of your life, hearing each individual out and relating to them, also allowing people to stay outside longer with multiple fun activities, that allow more room for people to get out of their shell and meet/open up to the individuals who were also there to heal and prosper. Also be on the look out for one individual that will play,👌 with you a very entertaining way to keep you on you toes. (For those who don't know it's a game, that you show 👌 below the waist, and if you look at this hand signal you've been got.) FOR ANYONE!! Who does go to this facility you should participate and get him for me, but beware he is always on his toes, so it's very difficult to do so. Overall I give my stay and the staff a 10/10. April White 1 year ago I recently had the privilege of spending a week at Willowbrooke Mental Institute, and I must say it was a truly transformative experience. From the moment I arrived, I felt a sense of calm and serenity wash over me, thanks to the beautiful surroundings and the warm welcome from the staff. The facilities were top-notch, with spacious rooms and a serene atmosphere that made it easy to relax and unwind. The therapy sessions were led by experienced professionals who were knowledgeable and empathetic, and the group sessions were engaging and thought-provoking. But what really impressed me was the sense of community that permeated every aspect of the program. From the daily activities to the meals, everything was designed to promote connection and camaraderie among the residents. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that everyone felt supported and included, and I left feeling like I was part of a true community rather than just a patient. Overall, my experience at Willowbrooke was nothing short of exceptional, and I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a compassionate and effective approach to mental health treatment. The most important part of recovery is finding something that works for YOU, and New Horizons has done that for me. Honestly, until a few months ago I still kinda felt like I was "stuck". But when Ena 🌹became my peer counselor, that definitely changed. She made me feel heard ( which is harder than it is for the average person with me) , but she also made me feel worthy, cared about. I could go on and on about the things that she and my counselor Emily🌻 have done for me in the past few months... They are both outstanding people and if you haven't had the same experience with them, I recommend that you try again, just sit down and tell Ena what you need from her. They help not only with recovery but she and April have boocoo resources to help with housing, food, jobs, ect whatever your needs are I promise that if it's possible she'll make it happen. And as for Emily, she is very understanding and forgiving with a huge heart. She has helped me more than she knows. I absolutely adore Ms.Lisa, she makes her job look easy but I'm sure it's not, I've seen people be so ugly to her and she just keeps on smiling, and the other young lady that checks people in ( sorry idk her name) she always is smiling, she is very genuine ,I've never felt judged or like I was unworthy. The nurses are all exceptional as well. Overall my experience at New Horizons has been wonderful and I highly recommend anyone looking for MAT to make an appointment there. I have never been arrested and I figured it would be really hard to be a dad while in active addiction. That was in 2001. I've moved around to different places, Gadsden, Trussville, Tuscaloosa and others. I really loved the people in Tuscaloosa and hated leaving. I had to return to the Oxford area, to help with my mom who was terminal with cancer. When I transferred back to Oxford they were great. I loved the staff. At one point they were down to a skeleton crew, they did the best they could at the time with what they had. They have gotten more staff now and they are wonderful. I don't feel like my number so much. Yes, they are strict on the rules but look at what they deal with. I can manipulate just about anyone as an active addict. We all have that power. Wingate were the best people & care I have received military or civilian that I can even remember. My anxiety was in full blown mode and April made me feel so understood and she was such a comfort. And B. Wingate made me feel heard and understood and set up all test, meds and referrals that were needed. I feel extremely bless to have had these two taking care of me and can not stress enough how quick , efficient and KIND they both were. It turns out that I had a fractured bone and a torn tendon (that I ended up losing due to the 5 year wait) and received surgery as soon as it was possible (I had to wait another year due to COVID-19).
