You have to stay ahead of appointments, prescriptions, medications, etc. Dr Kepfer is experienced and knowledgeable psych Dr. she will guide you in the right direction. As a patient you have to follow through with orders. Mental health is difficult. We have to be proactive about our self care and educate ourselves on diagnosis. Medication is a “helper.” I, you, all patients must learn about your disease. Group therapy is an excellent way to learn about yourself, triggers, coping mechanisms, side effects, etc. If you’re not willing to help yourself, you can’t expect your dr to fix everything.

Nataly Gomez was by far an absolute pleasure to work with. She was extremely patient with my child, and made her feel comfortable. Enough to where my child freely expressed what was bothering her. My child had a positive outlook after every session. And actually looked forward to her therapy sessions. In a matter of a few weeks, I could see a vast improvement in my child’s Demeanor. We still have some work to do, but honestly we couldn’t of done it without Nataly. She was truly our Angel. I highly recommend Expanding Horizons.

It took me a long time to find a good counselor, but I feel the care I have gotten from this facility has truly helped me. The staff really care about their patients, and go above and beyond to help them. They care about the people much more than they care about money, and are willing to work with those with limited income. They have given me paid work, helped me acquire a laptop affordably, and have been patient and compassionate in taking the time to get to know me and help me in ways that work best for me. I would highly recommend this place, both to English speakers and Spanish speakers. Best mental health care I have received so far in my life.

I am forever grateful to this place. The staff is incredible, they truly care and put their heart and soul in everything they do. Donald was my therapist, Brandy was my case manager; they were both wonderful. The other therapists and case managers that weren’t even mine were a vital part in my recovery. I suggest utilizing all the staff you can, including the BHT’s. They want to help, and they definitely did. The reviews talking about “only an hour a day in the pool,” or the “gym isn’t good enough,” if that’s what you’re taking away with you in your recovery, then good luck. We had groups every day of the week, which is a necessary part in our recovery. They had activities for us every night, so we could build connections while having fun. The pool and the gym were extra gifts when we had the opportunity to use them. I would have loved it without. If you’re considering taking the steps to recovery, 100% recommend.

i got sent to la amistad when i was 13 years old (24 now). i was inpatient for 3.5 almost 4 months and i only saw the therapist 3 times MAYBE the whole time i was there. yes we had group therapy everyday etc etc but i never truly had one on one time with the therapist or the doctor, it was very rare yet i was prescribed 4-5 pills two times a day! i truly didn’t have anxiety and food issues til coming to this facility as a teen. i vividly remember a point/level system, especially when it came to food and phone calls. i remember a girl tripping me on my 4 day in the lunch line (she just got there so she was behind me in the food line) if you talked/reacted in any way that wasn’t appealing, you lost all your progress in the level system. i was constantly stuck no higher than level 2-3 the whole time i was there. the medicine they had me on made me not want to eat anything then constantly being harassed in line didn’t help either, which prolonged my stay because i wouldn’t eat. two girls ran away awhile i was in the program, they lost a girl as they were doing my intake and nobody was allow to get outside time or in the art room for a week straight, the girls lost their minds about it to say the least because it didn’t make sense why we were all getting punished for someone else’s actions and their workers not paying attention. said girl comes back in the program pregnant and clearly detoxing off something heavy. i was a depressed angry teenager, i never made claims to take my life yet i was never allowed to have laces nor ever graduated from the first dorm room you get put in with all the new girls. i was never allowed to shower or use the toilet myself the whole 3.5 months. my first two weeks i had to sleep in the hallway, i vividly remember the set up of the dorm area. the room i stayed in was directly across from where all the PAs/techs would sit and talk loudly all night/doing blood pressure checks at the crack of dawn. i never slept which just made me more irritated and on edge. after about 3 weeks in the facility i realized a whole lot of favoritism was happening (hence the reason i never got to get put in the better rooms and a bit more freedom). the techs were putting specific girls they enjoyed in certain rooms. these said girls would all have sex in those special rooms because they didn’t do checks every 15 minutes like they did the other rooms. they have alot more time and those techs knew exactly what they were allowing to happen. girls would also play space monkey (the choking game to get high off the rush of blood going to your head). as much as they said don’t share your info with other girls in the program, we all did. i keep in contact with 3 girls i was in la amistad with. one of the girls ended up MOVING IN WITH ONE OF THE TECHS WHEN SHE WENT TO COLLEGE AT UCF! another girl ended up killing herself 4 years after we all left the program, leaving her sister a note admitting the abuse of her mother, la amistad and sandy pines. now at 24, i’ve been working on unlocking alot of trauma i’ve completed wiped out of my brain with edmr and dbt therapy. i wouldn’t have remembered any of this if it wasn’t for finding a professional that actually cares. if you’re a parent consider sending your child to this program because you don’t know what to do; i strongly recommend that you don’t. i understand i’m speaking on my behalf of what happened to me and other girls here over 9-10 years ago and the program might be completely different nowadays but from what im reading online, doesn’t seem like much has. while working with professionals on accepting and learning about my repressed trauma ive realized with the work i’ve put in this past year with edmr, that a big contribution to my debilitating anxiety is stemmed from my stay here as a preteen..that whatever i’m forcing myself to forget happened at la amistad is the reason i’ve been terrified to get help all my life. please don’t send your kid away, as much as you think a few weeks/months stay would solve issues and i can confidently say it only created more for me.

This place literally saved my life, my therapist felt as if she was my best friend, and the staff as a whole felt like my family. The only place in Florida where you feel completely taken care of while offering confidential groups learning why we as addicts do the things we Do and where it all stems from. I've learned so much. Coming to the wellness center detoxed me slowly, and taught me lessons I won't ever forget. If you're not ready To quit, the wellness center will help build that willingness to quit. 3 months after getting out of a 30 day treatment center I bounced around from detox to halfway searching for a place that would be conducive to my recovery. I finally found a place where I feel I can progress and achieve real sobriety. Their program is excellent and I like the unique structure of the program. The facilities are top notch and staff is the best I've encountered. The staff truly cares, they dont just want your insurance money. Sal and house manager John are two of the most wonderful people I have met, and the fact that they work here is a blessing. This is the exact place I have been searching for to allow me to build a strong foundation for recovery and I can see myself achieving long term sobriety through this program.

Unforgettable experience. Almost all staff there when I was there to rehabilitate, was thoughtful and had their hearts in the right place. The program directors, support councilors, and all other staff members on campus made sure almost daily to check up on the youth, and building solid foundations of trust needed to have consistent progress in therapy both in session and internal. There were opportunities to further your education and if you could show responsibility and determination to better yourself, your given opportunity’s to learn more hands on life skills, like painting or how to properly write a resume and apply for a Job. While from the perspective of being rehabilitated, things can seem negative and hopeless at times. When I was there I didn’t share an positive outlook, but after deeply analyzing my experience In hindsight, this was the safest and most caring place to learn necessary coping skills to stay recovered. And I’m very thankful for all the staff members who did their job with their heart and minds in the right place. 5 stars

my best friend was only at remedy for a month but during her stay she was consistently put through trauma and turmoil everyday some of which would include staff verbally berating her or bullying her to being denied the proper amount of calories in her diet she would also be consistently denied medication prescribed to her by her doctor because remedy didn’t allow her to take it she was also forbidden from using painkillers prescribed by her dentist after having surgery and remedy forced her to deal with the pain and only proved her tylenol for relief even after she asked for her prescribed medication. remedy also wants you to believe they’re a voluntary treatment center when in reality if you try to leave on your own terms even if you’re healthy they will do everything in their power to make you sound mentally unwell so they can baker act you remedy is not a place where you can expect to get help remedy does not care about you a they only care about your money if you want genuine help it’s in your best interest to find somewhere else.

I LOVED THIS PLACE AND IT WILL FOREVER BE THE REASON I CAME BACK TO GOD! Josh was an important part of my journey at remedy and he made his mark not only in my recovery but in my spiritual journey to! He was an amazing mentor and teacher he really does care and LOVE everyone that comes through the front door. He is so incredibly supportive and kind it’s unbelievable how much he reminds me of what a Christian Should act like. Next off we got Cindy! Oh Cindy was awesome she challenged me to be who I was meant to be. She helped and always had time to talk to me even when her list of work was full. She has incredible energy and I will always remember her meditations. Last but not least we have Lexi the therapist! She is incredibly helpful and sweet and has an amazing view of what we really need. If you need something done go to Lexi she will make sure your needs are taken care of. Don’t let me forget about the wonderful techs and nurses. They are so kind and supportive and encouraging. Everyone at remedy really does care and are for you. Hands-down, the best experience I’ve had ever with a dermatology office. The front desk staff was amazing over the phone and in person. Lia and Mia were professional, patient, friendly, and helpful. Whoever answers your phone and is the first person you see in an office makes a difference. Unfortunately, the majority of doctors offices today don’t have the kind of staff that this place has. Marissa in the back was very patient and thorough. I barely waited 2 minutes which was fantastic. Stella was a great nurse practitioner, patient with all my questions and did my body check with dignity with proper eyewear and lighting (that has never happened at my prior derms office). She provided a lot of helpful suggestions and a prescription for future use for a concern I have. She also cared about my medical history and ensuring my safety and skin health. If I needed to suggest what green flags to look for in a medical practice it would be everything this place is. The facility is also clean and kept up with. I can’t say anything negative at all! I’ve been so happy with my initial appointment and shared their information with other people. Thank you for a great first appointment and for being so much better than what’s out there. I was dreading this due to other practices I’ve been to but you exceeded my expectations thank you to your amazing team!

I came here for over a year without any issues. I had to switch providers for a different service. That provider never came out to get me for my appointment, the front desk staff told me they didn’t know where the provider was, and I asked for a manager to call me (I left after 40 minutes of waiting) and no one ever called. So unprofessional and not worth the traffic, hassle, or price.

I didn’t go through residential, but I want to say this clearly: if someone needs that level of care, or PHP, or IOP it is worth it. What I found at La Amistad is powerful enough that I would recommend the entire continuum without hesitation. When I first walked into IOP, I was carrying more than anyone could see. I had just lost my dad a wound that cut into every part of my identity. Grief wasn’t just sadness; it was confusion, loneliness, and feeling like the ground had disappeared under me. I didn’t know where to put those emotions. I didn’t know how to make sense of the memories, the guilt, or the silence that grief brings. Then I met Violeta, my therapist in IOP. She didn’t just help me understand my pain she helped me understand myself. She gave me the space and the tools to face what I had been avoiding for years. She helped me see where my survival patterns came from and how to replace them with healthier ones. That alone cracked something open in me. When I transitioned into the alumni group, everything changed again. I met Alyssa and Corey, and for the first time in a long time, I felt something I didn’t even realize I was missing: community. Real people who understood struggle. Real people who didn’t judge. Real people who showed up. The alumni group became the place where I learned to speak without filtering myself. Where I stopped pretending I was “fine.” Where I realized I wasn’t alone, and I didn’t have to carry everything by myself anymore. It helped me grieve with support instead of isolation. It helped me rebuild self-worth instead of self-blame. It helped me create a new identity rooted in healing, not in trauma. This community became my anchor. It gave me structure, purpose, accountability, and people who genuinely care. It helped me regain confidence, discipline, and the belief that I’m allowed to grow past what I’ve survived. Losing my dad broke me open, but being here helped me rebuild. And not as the old version of myself trying to “be strong,” but as someone who is finally grounded, supported, and choosing healing every day. I’m grateful for the therapists who guided me, the peers who walked alongside me, and the space that allowed me to feel safe enough to change. This experience didn’t just help me survive it gave me back the life I thought I had lost. Forever grateful.

The Good Life treatment program is an excellent choice to help people who are eager about recovery and begin to transition back into life on life’s terms. The staff is extremely supportive, kind, and helpful! The therapists are in my opinion some of the best. I would highly recommend them to those who may be struggling to cope and connect with themselves and their journey ahead.

The Twin Rivers Detox program was absolutely amazing. The staff are mostly friendly and actually act like they care that your there, they make you ad comfortable as possible. The Dayroom and bedrooms are comfortable and definately help you get through the process, it can be boring of course, your in a setting where you cant do much, but what do you expect? The counselors and medical staff help dearly, I would recommend this place to anyone who is serious about getting clean and staying clean.

Prison cell environment Nasty night shift that enjoyed power and authority Mixed dangerous, aggressive people with meek people. Nothing to do most of the day but roam halls. Very few people who wanted to work. Minimum care.

It's sad to see this facility threatening discharge for physically ill clients that aren't able to attend group the first 24 hours. Alot of the clients are on meds that shouldn't just be turned out on the streets. This facility used to have some compassion and understanding. I really hope they are able to revise some of their policies.
