7.53 / 10 | Dr. Paul’s by the Sea, in Saint Augustine, Florida, is a private dual diagnosis treatment center. They offer inpatient treatment and aftercare support, including intensive outpatient programs. They accept a wide range of insurance plans for payment. You might enroll in their medication assisted treatment program if you’re in alcohol or opioid | Treatments Programs Payment Options | This is the first time I've been in a treatment center. The faculty is outstanding, 5 star. They care. Always courteous. My favorite nurse is a lady named Toni. She just has what it takes to make my mind go somewhere else than on my problems of the day. She keeps a close eye on everything going on and the clients as they pass her station. She recognizes symptoms and actually stops me to see if I need anything to help at that moment. She's a great listener and I will miss her so much after I leave to start my new life of freedom from drugs and alcohol and my daily overall mental health. I want to thank the people of Spencer's recovery for the fine work they do morning, noon and night to keep everyone comfortable and in good spirits. I would suggest to anyone having difficulty in daily life to seek help. It's here. They are here for you. Professional, courteous, and well trained to guide you through the process of healing your addiction or mental health issues.

Saint Augustine, FL | Pearl of the Sea Retreat is a residential addiction treatment center for adults in Saint Augustine, Florida. They provide dual diagnosis care, including trauma informed care. They accept insurance and offer financing options to clients. They provide medical detox, inpatient care, and day treatment services. Their large, sunny, coastal neighborhood | Treatments Programs Payment Options | If you are looking for a long term rehab for your loved one, look no further. My brother was in a few rehabs before my mother and I found TARC and nothing else could compare. The way the entire staff truly cared about the recovery of the guys there and their families is extraordinary. My brothers case manager, Ryan, always stayed in constant contact with both my mother and I. He was always a phone call away if we had any questions or concerns. He also reached out to us at minimum, on a weekly basis to keep us updated on my brothers progress. He always showed genuine care, compassion and concern. No other facility he was in ever did that!
They also offer weekly family support group meetings which have been so helpful.
After visiting during one of their family weekends, I could see the positive community and its impact on my brother. They really focus on a healthy lifestyle, behaviors and routines which my brother has continued after leaving TARC.
I am extremely grateful for all the staff at TARC and their role in my brothers recovery.

I chose Augustine Recovery because of Jason’s passion, honesty and commitment to recovery and trauma based treatment.
Christine guided me through each step of the way to get our son there. Once he arrived, I received a call…he’s here, he’s safe. For the first time, I could breathe.
Augustine Recovery has been a life changing experience. The family weekends are immersive, supportive, and meaningful. The treatment team was not just focused on my son; they were piecing together information about our family system in order to promote true healing.
The commitment and support that we received was invaluable. Jon, our case manager and Karen, our therapist came together in every way possible to help my son and family. Jon was always one step ahead of me. He would listen and ask questions - often challenging my ideas and was always right in his approach. Karen, our therapist, always knew how to bring things back into balance. I truly appreciate the amount of time she spent to bring about the best outcomes in therapy. I have never witnessed such dedicated people interact with my son and be able to reach the depth of understanding the way they did. I was often in awe of them.
My gratitude to Augustine Recovery and the entire staff is immeasurable. Trust the work that they do here and miracles unfold.

I am so grateful for the compassionate care, guidance and support that TARC provided my family. As a sibling, I sometimes felt overlooked in the recovery process. TARC gave me a place to be involved in my brother's recovery and helped me feel supported and included. Every employee is incredible and inspiring, but I want to give special recognition to my brother’s case manager, Jon. His dedication, experience, and support made a profound impact on our family during a challenging and emotional time.

Jack is an outstanding counselor whose support has been instrumental in my recovery. I met him on my first day at the clinic — a day when I was sick, overwhelmed, and angry that I was even there…on my birthday, no less. I remember him saying to me that this was the best birthday present I could give myself. I didn’t believe him then, but now, over 2 years later, I can see that he was a 1000% right. I also remember how uncomfortable I was but Jack put me at ease immediately, he met me with kindness and compassion, and I feel so fortunate that on my first day, he was the first person I ran into.
Throughout my first year of sobriety, Jack consistently went above and beyond. In the beginning, I remember connecting with him over cats- we were both cat-people. Through the first few months of my recovery, I was battling homelessness, & Jack always checked in with me and made sure my cat was ok and had food. That is above & beyond, genuinely kind, & exactly the traits you look for in a counselor. He always made himself available, provided honest and thoughtful guidance, and I appreciated when he asked me insightful questions that helped me understand my resilience, the circumstances of my recovery, and how I had the power to build a clear path forward. His approach is both realistic and deeply kind, and I always felt safe and supported in his care. And laughter! We were able to find humor in an otherwise complicated and dire situation. He always did everything he could to help me. I’ll never forget how supportive he was- you can tell he really cares.
I still check in with him today, and he continues to be supportive and encouraging. I truly believe I’m sober today in large part because of his help, guidance, & support. I couldn’t recommend him more highly.

I came to Recovery Keys via a referral from the lead detox physician at the University of Florida. At that point, I was unable to even drive. My main addiction was alcohol. The program I entered into takes a three hundred sixty degree approach to the treatment alcohol and drug addiction. They use a complete approach, under the direction of physicians and addictionologists. Early on, I was not the easiest, most cooperative patient. As time went on, and with a great amount of patience and encouragement, I made substantial progress in controlling my addiction and actually understanding the root causes in order to carve out a new life. Around me I saw amazing progress among the other patients. The amount of knowledge, patience and caring at this facility is incredible. I am getting my life back and cannot express my gratitude enough to do justice to the program and all of those involved. Thank you.

I needed a specific therapy called EMDR due to traumatic incidents. I had difficulty finding a therapist with the licensing to perform EMDR at a reasonable price. However here at SMA my therapist Miss Nicole was able to do exactly that, and thankfully they offered a sliding fee scale, so it was affordable. After I finished my therapy with Nicole, for the first time in my entire life , I no longer had intense suicidal urges and tendencies to self harm. If it wasn’t for SMA I wouldn’t have been able to get the help I desperately needed. I will forever be so grateful towards everyone here at SMA, you all truly helped save my life.

Lakeview was amazing, it saved my life. It felt like a vacation, Its practically a health resort. It was so peaceful and serene. I felt I was cared about when cared for, I felt like they were actually invested in my recovery rather than feeling like a number. From the nurses to the blue-shirts, the therapists, the kitchen staff... everyone was so nice and supportive.
The food was amazing, honestly. The pool was nice, gym was immaculate. Yoga instructors were awesome. We went for surfing lessons, went out to a horse farm to pet and feed some little horses. You have a massage therapist come in, and someone to come in for haircuts. Theres even a little zen meditation room. The lake on the men's side is full of life, little ducks and geese, big bass and turtles you can feed - although I don't think you're supposed to, anyways. The facility is nice, its got a real pretty view, good food, great staff. I cant imagine how they could go wrong.
If I had to complain, the apartments, the PHP after the inpatient - the last period before you graduate... the apartments kind of sucked, but the comradery, the fellowship there.. it was a great place to transition back into the real world. And the girl at the window that took the cigarette and vape orders seemed like she was always having a bad day... but still. This place is amazing.
I love Lakeview. I brag about my experience there. I highly recommend it.

I was a patient at Lakeview from October 20, 2002, to November 19, 2002. I was there during Lakeview's infancy, when there was only one building, a couple of picnic tables, a basketball hoop and a beat up volleyball net. I can tell you, with great conviction, their program works.
Lakeview gave me the tools I needed to learn how to live a sober life. I still use those tools today, and I have been sober for just over 23 years now. I wish I could come down there and speak to the people currently residing there and tell them it's possible to turn theirs lives around. I am living proof of that,
Thank you, Lakeview.

I was so amazed with Promises! I would recommend to anyone that needs help with either mental health and or drug addiction recovery. Dom saved me more than once love him!Dom is AWESOME!! The nurse's were a huge help to me. Never talked or looked down on me, he was just a huge help!
The food was great, the people were awesome. The people I have met there are wonderful I WILL have friendships 💓 forever. Promises ROCKS! WHAT A GREAT EXPERIENCE. My therapist Charles was fantastic 😊. The sense of community fabulous. Micheal the Alumni Cordinater of 5 Palms is always willing to text and talk when you need him. What a great person he is!

I didn’t always agree with how everything was run, but overall the program was truly worthwhile and helped me tremendously. The therapists were exceptional, and I credit them—along with other staff members—for my engagement and my desire to fully commit to and benefit from my time there.
The programming was a major strength, especially the medical sessions led by doctors and nurses, as well as the psychotherapy sessions led by trained therapists. These were pivotal to my success. They also offer nightly 12‑step meetings, typically hosted by outside groups such as AA and NA, which added meaningful support.
The living arrangements exceeded my expectations. The dorm room was comfortable (the beds were genuinely great), the food was very good with a wide variety of options every day, and there was a healthy balance of structured programming and downtime for reading, homework, movies, and rest.
One thing that particularly impressed me was their weekly Town Hall, where patients can openly raise concerns, complaints, suggestions, and compliments directly with leadership, including the CEO, Clinical Director, Nursing, Maintenance, and BHTs. While the facility is clearly short‑staffed, I never once felt unsafe or discouraged from voicing my concerns. Some of the rules could be frustrating, but they are clearly in place for patient safety.
I am 44 days sober today. When I arrived, I was angry at the world, ready to leave AMA, and intent on drinking myself to death. I left with a powerful desire to live and to continue doing the next right thing to stay grounded in my recovery. Stepping Stone—especially my individual therapist and the classes—saved my life. I will be forever grateful.

You saved my life!! Now one would take and help me because of 160 mg methadone a day. It was a hard 6 days. Then I came out of it. Learned a lot about myself. Thank you!!

Taking the MRT class was an amazing experience that genuinely increased my self-awareness. Right from the start, Susan was incredibly friendly and helpful during the intake process, which made a huge difference. The program teaches you to look closely at your goals, behaviors, and thinking processes in ways you might not have realized you needed. It really opens your eyes to what’s happening around you, and having Robert Morger as an instructor made it even better. He was so supportive and made the material easy to connect with

When walking into the break the cycle I was greeted by Susan that was very friendly and super helpful. Having Jamie as our counselor who is the instructor in our classes has made this experience easier for me. She is so supportive and full of so much knowledge to make you understand the ins and the outs of whats right and what’s wrong. She is very genuine, but at the same time she gets her message across. For someone like me that has never had to experience this before in my lifetime Jamie has made me see this whole experience in a different lens .

I just wanted to share that I have been going to this clinic off and on since 2013. I have came and gone, I have had counselor after counselor. My counselor now is IRA. I have been close with a lot of my counselors before but he’s the first counselor I can honestly say I have been 100% honest with. No judgement. When I think I have accomplished something as small as a grain of sand he reminds me of the mountain I just moved. Today I broke down and he brought up things that hit the heart with me and made so much sense because he actually listens. Other counselors have pushed me to go to meetings when all I needed was one on one counseling and the counseling I received today was exactly what I needed. I just wanted to share how awesome IRA is and how much he is apppreciated. I am so thankful for this clinic because I don’t feel so alone anymore. If you’re thinking about starting I would recommend this clinic 1000 percent. I’ve gone to multiple clinics and this clinic is by far the best
