The nutritionist there is HORRIBLE. I personally am lactose intolerant and when I was admitted my liver was bad, so I needed a diet tailored to helping me recover. She told me if I can’t find anything to just eat from the salad bar. I stood my ground and she let the kitchen staff know I was lactose intolerant and couldn’t eat fried stuff but that is ridiculous I should not have to argue with her. Then my roommate had ARFID so she needed dietary help, and the nutritionist told her to eat bread. That’s a sad and pathetic excuse for a nutritionist. Staffs great but they should certainly fire her.

Very caring staff and a very welcoming environment. Food is very good. Could not have gotta sober or gotten through withdrawals with out coming here. If you or a loved one are struggling this is the best program I have ever attend. It saved my life!

To any brand new guests at the Retreat reading Google reviews, either because you’re worried about what exactly you’ve signed up for, or just want to see what others’ experiences have been like—put the phone away—this place is extraordinary. It might make you upset sometimes, and you’ll come to understand uncomfortable truths about yourself. Might piss you off a little, and you’ll learn habits of healthy resolution.
Learn from this place. When a line of people out the door say “good morning” and ask “how are you doing today?” they TRULY want to know. You might never find a group of friends quite like the ones you’ll have at the Retreat.
Being an alumni of the Retreat is one of the things I am most proud to call myself.

I went here back in 2023 I believe in the beginning of July. I delayed my go and staff was saying you’ll wish you went sooner I did! I loved it this place has been a huge part of my sobriety I wish I could’ve stayed longer than a month! Which they will allow you to stay longer! They do help you find scholarships so you can get in! Do no hesitate just call! I still struggle with addiction but I have slowed down a lot because of this place! They do offer help after just call and make the change here!

I've gone to inpatient in Shakopee and outpatient with lodging in Chaska. Both locations the staff is great. Counselors, techs, peer recovery specialists, medical staff, even kitchen staff. All of them truly care about our recovery, and will do everything they can for you. Northstar also has sober housing if you need it after treatment.

So far my experience with Anne Marie has been TERRIBLE!!!! Early in recovery dealing with disconnection notices and getting back into the work force relying on public transportation in rural Minnesota and trying to find housing is NOT EASY and neither it is an excuse, but I am not sure how she can be kicked out of group after 1 group absence and individual. It is frustrating to work with a provider who calls their clients names during sessions and communicates in a condescending manner. Is this place not trauma informed? I’m so confused as to how I was discharged without being able to speak for myself or to Anne Marie’s supervisor.
UPDATE: Club recovery was ready to listen to my concerns and was quick to offer an efficient solution. I am highly satisfied with the care that I've received at Club Recovery, but amazed at their proficient customer service.

Working with Wa has been deeply thought-provoking, healing, and transformative. She helped me gain profound self-awareness and practical insights that led to visible improvements in my mood and life.
It was a real struggle to find a therapist who resonates with me culturally and speaks Mandarin—allowing me to express my thoughts more smoothly in my native language—so I feel incredibly lucky to have found Wa. Minnesota definitely needs more Mandarin-speaking therapists to meet this demand!

It's a tight and small clinic, but the care I've received has always been better than most facilities. The facility is clean, but could use a check-in kiosk like the ones many other facilities have. I say that only because the poor lady behind the counter was still engaged in warfare with her bowels and it muddied up things for a few minutes.
Still; no complaints. The doctors listen, are experts in their field, and the staff wants to interact with you.

I’ve been going to the Shakopee VA for over three years, and it has consistently been the best medical care I’ve received anywhere. From the moment you walk in, the front desk staff are kind, helpful, and quick to respond. They make you feel welcome and supported right away.
The psychologists and physical therapists here are also excellent. They do their best to schedule appointments quickly, they listen, and they work with you to address your needs in a real and meaningful way.
Most of all, I want to recognize Dr. Reddy. She provides care at a personal level that’s hard to find. She makes sure medications, scans, and bloodwork are handled promptly, and she responds to messages and appointment requests almost immediately. It’s clear how much she cares about her patients and how hard she works every day.
Overall, I’m very grateful for the staff and providers at the Shakopee VA. Their professionalism, kindness, and commitment truly make a difference

Dr. Stacy Hockett,
I want you to know that when I got COVID and my physical health was deteriorating, and I was losing weight rapidly due to the post-COVID and COVID symptoms that I still currently have, no other doctor had ever helped me or offered their hand and service while I was struggling and feeling afraid that I would continue to deteriorate and my health would spiral downward, and I felt like I had no ability to control it. All other doctors and physicians outside of Fairview, such as Allina Health, failed me. But when I made the choice to see Dr. Stacy Hockett, I had never, ever made a better choice in my life. This doctor is absolutely amazing.
Not only is he patient, kind, merciful, and humanistic, but he is also very good at solving problems. He has been with me through thick and thin, and I refuse to see another provider other than him for my most concerning health needs. He’s always been prompt with getting back to me, he is lightning-fast in his responses, and he makes me feel heard, protected, and safe. I’ve never really had the pleasure of saying this to a doctor while also admiring the passion that he puts into his work, the empathy that he has for people, and the hard work that he has done for me to make me feel whole, safe, and heard.
He has never dismissed me; he’s always been nice, kind, and supportive. Never has he said no to me regarding my concerns and my grievances about my health. He has always opted to solve any condition that I have vigorously, not batting an eye when it comes to serving his patients. He is a great, admirable doctor.
I would advise anyone who is struggling mentally or physically, especially with COVID symptoms, to seek help from Dr. Stacy Hockett. You will never regret this decision in your life. It’s been years that I’ve been seeing him, and I will never change primary care doctors. I trust in the integrity of his work, and he has made this place a wonderful place because of his work ethic, his honesty, and his respect for privacy.
I wish him all the luck, all the peace, all the wealth, and all the happiness that the world can give this person, because he has brought me nothing except peace and happiness. He has made me a better person, because if it weren’t for his help, I would still be stagnant, weak, and feeling crippled. He has changed my life forever and left a meaningful impact, and if he didn’t know this, he knows it now.
From the years since he first helped me to today, he has always been the person that I have most deeply appreciated, and I will always admire him. He will always have a special place in my heart for how he treated me with kindness, compassion, and mercy, never dismissing me.

I was run off the road had women and men in my life nowhere to go and they gave me a place to stay. North Star Shakopee MRTC has been a great treatment center. The director really cares about your care & safety. Great staff of counselors & the therapist is excellent too. The rooms are good, beds are comfy & the bathroom is inside your bedroom, not communal. Evening peer-lead support meetings are required and very helpful. Front desk, nursing, & cooking staff are all very nice. The food is pretty good too. The building is clean, looks like a hotel from the outside. Northstar has very much helped me.

This is a great clinic my PCP Dr. Kenyon-Johnson is one of the best doctors I've ever seen. I had got hit by a car and let me tell you he is heaven sent! very thural listens and finds solutions to things I didnt even realize was going on during a very hard time . my girlfriend stayed here a few years back and loved it. she had her kids with her so kid friendly and good programing for her kids. It is located in Saint Louis Park, Minnesota. There's a park for the kids to play at and another one near by. Affordable and nice apartments.

I graduated from The Shakopee Haven in December 2022. This place changed my life for the better. I owe a lot to my Counselor Chris for not giving up on me. He gave me so many tools to use in life after treatment to continue to stay clean. He always told me I had the ability to restore and rebuild with my children if I stay clean. I’ve been tested for COVID-19 twice at this Mayo satellite clinic, once on fall 2020 and again today, late May 2021. The clinic was indeed overwhelmed by testing demand the first time. Cars lined the public road out front and the parking lot was full. In spite of this challenge the staff was able to administer my test within 15 minutes of the scheduled time. They were pleasant and very professional. I received my test results electronically (as their publicly available documentation stated I would if the test was negative). The results took approx 24hrs although I was told to expect results in 24-48hrs.
Today I arrived 10 minutes early. The parking lot was only 20% full. When I walked up to the portal to scan the posted QR code as instructed the door opened and a Mayo staffer greeted me by name and invited me in for my test. I didn’t even need to scan the code. As before, the staff member who administered the test was pleasant and efficient. Expectations for test results are still 24-48hrs although I was told that results have been coming in more quickly now that demand for testing has fallen.
My recommendation if you need COVID-19 testing, is to use the Mayo App on your phone or login to your Mayo account through the web portal on your PC. Follow the instructions and you’ll be fine. Please don’t bother the staff with phone calls asking for information about your test that you will receive electronically. Don’t waste their time. They have other patients to tend to. If you’re test results are positive I am told that they will call you with that result and to discuss your treatment options.

For my first treatment, I came in with a lot of unknowns.. As I walked in the door the I was greeted by a Tech who allowed me to take my time to process my emotions. There was a slight delay with getting to know my counselor, but any negative feelings were diminished when I met the kindest and the most respectful woman! Everyone on staff will take the time to listen to you, and provide respectful comfort! During my stay I was able to get medication for mental health concerns, speak about them, and medical support for addiction cravings, withdrawal symptoms. The food was made by chefs who enjoy doing their job, and are very accommodating to food allergies, and concerns. As I am allergic to a handful of things. I think if you choose to participate in this program, give it your all and you’ll gain a great stepping stone to recovery.
