Magee, MS | Millcreek of Magee Treatment Center is located in Magee, Mississippi. This is a behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment center for children and adolescents. They also treat kids with developmental and intellectual disabilities. The treatment center only takes Mississippi Medicaid. They don’t take any private or commercial insurance | Treatments Programs Payment Options | My son has been in the residential part for kids with special needs for a year and a half now . He is a completely different kid now . He can do things I thought would take decades for him to finally do . He is taken care of and loved by the staff as if he were their own child . It’s the one on one staff and caretakers that make this facility so successful In what they are doing for our most vulnerable children .
This facility is full of employees that have been working there forever , so they know the kids and they know their job . Everyone you encounter gives 110% plus some, to their job and their commitment to these children . They make it so that I as a parent able to sleep at night knowing our kid is loved , safe , and thriving . Millcreek in my experience is the gold standard of care for special needs children and should be modeled as such by other facilities like them in the country.

The most compassionate staff I have ever dealt with
Michelle Rushing

I can’t say enough good things about A Bridge to Recovery in Jackson. From the very first phone call through every group session and one-on-one meeting, the staff treated me like a person, not a case number. They created a space where I felt genuinely seen and supported—right in our own community, not miles away.
Their intake process was thorough but never overwhelming. The SASSI-4 style assessment really got to the heart of my needs, and the team used that insight to craft a recovery plan tailored just for me. The weekly IOP groups were welcoming and focused.
What sets them apart is the holistic follow-through. Between EMDR trauma work, art therapy, and flexible aftercare groups, I never felt left to navigate sobriety alone. They taught me practical tools for relapse prevention, helped me rebuild trust in myself, and cheered every small victory along the way.
If you’re ready for a compassionate, evidence-based program that actually adapts to your story, A Bridge to Recovery is it. Their team doesn’t just help you get sober—they help you rediscover who you want to be.

I had to make a special call to give a personal "Thank You" to Executive Director, Dedria D. Black for her wonderful staff at the Harbor House Chemical Dependency Center in Jackson Mississippi. The staff there are Professionals, Supportive, Compassionate, Caring etc. Their treatment philosophy goes above and beyond to make sure that their clients get the very best care for their recovery. Whenever I would call they gave me updates on my family member and their recovery. I've had over 40 years experience managing and working hands on in customer service. Finding the perfect team isn't easy but they've managed to do just that at the Harbor House. I would also like to send a special "Thank You" to Mission Specialist, Mrs. Shirley, Intake Coordinator, Mrs. Kayla, Nurse Manager, Mrs. Morenik and Counselor, Mrs. Kim Curtis for going above and beyond. I know that my family member is at the right place getting the treatment and tools that they need to be successful in life. Don't change a thing. I initially gave this clinic a bad review. I was sick and couldn't get seen. However, once I got through the initial screening (this appointment takes some time). I found them to be extremely competent. And they care. They are a small clinic with few people and limited resources. But, they are VERY thorough. Be patient, they are under the control of VAMC Jackson. We all know how bad Jackson VA is (except our useless congressmen and senators, I suppose).
My advice is as follows:
1. Get a clinic appointment. Try to get Dr. Bowling. She will get to the bottom of any medical problem. This lady is tenacious when it comes to her vets!
2.Sign up for myhealthevet. Once you make an account, upgrade to the premium account. It will say you have to send in a form for the premium account. Just call the 800 number and have the service person upgrade it for you. They're very helpful. This will allow you to order health records, check prescriptions, communicate with you're health team. In other words bypass the VA bureaucracy.
Sorry for the long post. Hope it helps.
August 2023 update.
They've run off ALL their doctors! Go to VAMC Biloxi instead.

I was there. I was in a place in my life where I could not continue on the path that I was taking. It's true about the food. It taste horrible and it's not enough. However , I do understand why the portions are small. An addict trying to get sober will very easily develop an addiction to food. So then you would only be swapping one addiction to another. As far as the treatment team , they were a blessing for me to have. I did get off of crack and stayed off after my stay in Whitfield. I was wanting the help. My counselors helped me get through painful experiences I had been through and helped me to view some things in a different perspective. So it wasn't the AA classes that helped me. In fact AA meetings would make me want to go get high. It was the treatment I got from the counselors and the therapist who helped me stay off of crack. God bless you Vickie Prosser , and Mr John and everyone of you who are there helping patients day after day. ALOT of people aren't going to write anything positive about Whitfield. Really enjoyed Hope, Naomi, and Jim. I went in for anxiety treatment back in 2015. I was in the adolescent program. I didn’t enjoy the intern they had at the time, because he purposely triggered my anxiety to get me to react. He made me have a panic/ anxiety attack to see how I’d react to it. I did not enjoy going to the down range camp either because I was extremely triggered there as well. But overall I enjoyed the experience. Hope was my favorite. I liked the art therapy & being outside. It was a safe place for most of the time.
Update:
I had to come back and seek treatment again. It was not a bad experience. My only issue is that my eating disorder was not properly addressed or really even acknowledged. But most everyone on the staff was amazing. They were patient with me. They gave me tools I needed in order to cope. I just loved Angela, Chris, Amy, Sherry, and Paula. Art therapy was a good time. Dr. H always had a smile on his face and made you feel welcome. Cheryl was truly an amazing nurse that made you feel safe. I appreciated Karen’s insight. Sherry was the least judgmental therapist on staff. I will miss them all.

I came here for treatment a few years ago, suffering with what I consider to be immense anxiety and depression.
I had an amazing experience here. All of their therapists handled my case very well. Amy, the art therapist, was truly one of a kind. I have taken some of her skills and used them in my own personal life, to this day. I am a teacher now, and I have taught the kids many coping skills that I learned from here. I still very much appreciate the time that Hope took with me to help me heal from my disordered eating. She went above and beyond during our lunch sessions, which is something I will never forget, and always thank her for. Pamela was my therapist, and I felt like she showed great compassion through her work. There was one therapist here that when I presented my issues, they disregarded them and told the group not to help me. I felt very shameful after that, but I have since forgiven that therapist and hope that it was just a mistake. I will never forget the warm, and safe feeling that I experienced anytime I was around David.Cheryl was a great nurse, I could tell she cared about her patients more than anything. Yancey is an absolute angel, who was willing to work with my financial issues, due to me being a young adult and paying for the program myself.Evan was a very safe person to be around, and I appreciated him greatly also. Overall, I feel like this is for sure a safe place, and if I were to fall back in a dark place, I wouldn’t hesitate to go back.
