Couldn't ask for a better group of people all around. I was genuinely accepted and treated with dignity by both residents and staff. 28 days flew by and I was reminded of how \|enjoyable life can still be even if you are sober. They let us smoke cigarettes on the patio outside and the food was outstanding and many times restaurant quality. I'll always have fond memories of this place. I can only hope that those that I met there are winning their battle with addiction or at the very least not giving up. They were all good souls that deserve happiness just as much as anyone else. I can but I would be writing for days. Someone that I consider family needed my help. The day started with me driving from Boston to NH, when I found him we went to Portland Maine. I called detox after detox and all were packed. However, I was given wrong information when they said take him to Maine Health. We went there first and waited over an hour only to be told they would not give him a bed until one of the detoxes opened. This was very disappointing. However, with the grace of God, I found Saint Mary’s in Lewiston Maine. So we drove another hour there and finally succeeded. The security, nurse and Doctor we talked to were phenomenal. It ended with an emotional hug and hope of recovery now linger. Before I left, the guy at the desk even stopped me and handed me a piece of paper with the number to this department on it. Canterbury so far has been the first facility to finally give my daughter the type of individualized care she needed. My daughter’s Case Worker Jen has been a Godsend. Jen became aware that my daughter was returning to New Hampshire for treatment and quickly took her under her guardian angel wings. Jen makes herself available to provide us as the parents reassurance with her knowledge at any time of the day, which is a blessing since we are not in the area to quickly come check on my daughter. The regular feedback among the team members (the kids) was a huge asset in making this program work. At summit the kids are never made to feel that they are bad as they are in some programs; the balance between connection and support and holding boundaries is what really makes this program a standout among its peers. No place is perfect but the night he went there I was worried sick by the end of his stay I can say I put trust into the staff there. It is a nice facility for what it is. I liked how the kids were able to go outside and do some activities other than being confined to a room. My son mentioned he was cold one night and a staff member put blankets in the dryer so they were warm for him. Way to go seriously deserves recognition. This job is not easy! I also liked how there was a plan set in place for my son and zoom meetings were set up for me to attend when I couldn’t make it down there because I live over 3 hours away. The reception staff and security guards who met me at the front were all welcoming and nice. The only real complaint I have that made me a little uneasy was that my son had a cup of water dumped over his head by another patient and hurt his foot outside both times I was not contacted nor his dad of these events. I joined the Crossroads program on November 17, 2025 into PHP. I attended the program for that week and sadly had a relapse that Saturday. I joined PHP group first thing Monday morning and was open and honest about my relapse. The team quickly worked together to set up more supportive services for me. I asked for residential and was quickly forwarded to intake. I did the intake process and was admitted to Back Cove on November 25th. I was nicely greeted by staff and was comforted from my overwhelming feelings. During my stay at Back Cove I was able to attend meaningful groups during the day that taught me the coping skills and tools I needed to work on my sobriety. I also met an amazing group of women that I am able to call lifelong friends. The support and bond I built with all the women at the house is unforgettable. I successfully left the house 28 days later feeling ready to move forward at home with my recovery. I will always be thankful to Crossroads for taking me in when I was at the worst point in my life. I now participate in IOP daily. I am grateful for my IOP group as it keeps me going every single day. I am to comfortably share and receive help working through the hard times. I am also able to celebrate the happy moments as well with another great group of women.
