Full stop. Incredibly caring professionals across all functions and disciplines. I am so grateful we found them. Their care and attention towards me was constant, deep, and real. They really provide the peace and atmosphere that allowed the Doctors and I to do incredible amounts of work and healing. The Doctors too were incredible, talented, and providing a very high standard of care. Food was amazing (yes it's hospital food, adjust your expectations a bit). I had steak, burritos, pho, Thai, lasagna, pasta, bbq, burgers, and more. Across 6 weeks I think they only repeated a dish 4-6 times. And there's a salad bar and panetta/sandwich bar every meal. Many kids ate grilled cheese every meal instead of grown-up food and vegetables, so I would take their complaints with a pinch of salt, hah. Reading the other reviews is amusing. Bear in mind the complaints are coming from sick people, and it is frustrating to not find a silver bullet for very real and severe illnesses. Some people enter thinking this is a spa vacation. It is not. Your healing will require you to do work on yourself as well. The more you invest in the process the more long term success you will realize (I am not a Doctor, but my peers who invested in recovery had similar progress to myself) Mason J 2 weeks ago Silver Hill took me in when I was at the lowest point in my life. I went to several different programs during my stay and was treated with respect and care the whole time. There were the usual tiny wrinkles that comes with being in a hospital system but overall it was a wonderful hospital that has a lot of different specialties. I would highly recommend if you can afford it or have insurance coverage. I worked with Dr. Emily Haas and Micaela Scully and would also recommend them for trauma care. Tristan Silverman 1 month ago I’m here to lay down my 5-star review re: Rocky Marotta, M.D., PhD.. And to also give you ONE, single word of advice based on my experience with him. I met Dr. Rocco Marotta way back in 2012 when I was in my early thirties (yup! Still just a kid) and I knew nothing about effective mental health. Or, even life! At first, I thought I had all of the answers and still intended to do things MY way. (That may seem all too familiar to those who offered negative reviews re: Silver Hill Hospital & its physicians? All I can say to that is: “Stick around and keep coming!”) But it truly wasn’t long before my behavior began to change bc Rocky helped me to realize that MY way was, Uhmm, completely distorted and shall we say, not exactly working?! Knowing how brilliant the man actually is, I deeply respected him and slowly, things began to change for me. As they can indeed change for you! In fact, I had walked a very dark path until Rocky shined a great big light of HOPE onto me and my situation. Rocky has a tendency to take notes on all of his patients. I bet you didn’t know that. Yes he does. He takes notes, reads those notes and refers to those notes. That is CARING! But to further, he listens to what his patients have to say. He gets to know them, often times, better than they know themselves. Once you understand that- you can’t help but to start listening too. Get it? Makes sense? The man also makes critical recommendations… the kind which save lives. I’m here to tell you, he saved mine. Of this, I’m whole-heartedly convinced. Rocky not only saved my life- but at times like this, years later, when I reflect on myself…and HIM— I realize that he also helped me to save my SOUL. So if you’re reading this for yourself, or for someone you deeply love ~ let that SAME magic, that SAME hope and those same miracles happen for you and/or them. “How?” you ask? Well, it’s much more simple than you realize! All I had to do was listen. And I’m telling you that all you have to do is just that: Listen. Because these days, again, a decade and a half later… I no longer have the same stinkin’ roadblocks of mental illness obstructing my every path. I don’t suffer anymore. I don’t miss opportunities. I’m not depressed, or anxious, manic or, taking my life for granted. Nope. Not me. My life is balanced and joyful— and most of the time I’m helping someone else! (Can you even imagine?!) And WHO do I thank for this? Undoubtedly, Rocky & my Family (& Jo!) Without them, Lord only knows where I’d be. And I love and honor EACH of them for that. For never giving up on me. For letting me make mistakes. For loving me, too. Today, I’m an active, trusted, dedicated member of society (& even multiple Board Member!! lol) And YOU CAN DO IT ALL TOO. Whatever you want… Just not before you’re actually ready. I already told you HOW in this Review. Finally, I’m not at all surprised that Rocky Marotta founded the “Lodge” at Silver Hill for Neuropsychiatric Disorders. Or, that he’s now the Director of the Center for the Treatment and Study of Neuropsychiatric Disorders. Or that he uses the terms “HEALING” and/or “HEALED!” Or that he’s even the former Medical Director of Silver Hill Hospital Because, quite frankly, he’s just that good! That excellent! So remember this, the next time you’re feeling hopeless or symptomatic. That these are the types of physicians (ie. *Dr. Matthew Griepp, Dr. Rocky, etc etc) which make up Silver Hill Hospital and who are available to you. Our son was admitted quickly and efficiently, and, from that point on, our experience was incredible. After a couple of months we saw a noticeable change in our son. The staff was very timely in their correspondence with us and always treated us appropriately. During his time there, our son became actively involved in Alcoholics Anonymous, obtained employment, and began treating us and others with a level of respect we did not know he was capable of. He stayed there for 7 months, and I can say, it was very much worth every penny. Our son is still sober today and continues to attend the AA meetings that he went to during his time at Westport House. We cannot thank Westport House enough for giving us our son back. After 7 painful years, the change that he was able to make in his life is incredible, and it is all thanks to the great staff and services at Westport House. 6 years ago After being in and out of many different rehabs, it was at Westport House that I learned how to live a brand new life. The staff was kind, loving, and compassionate. They showed me the way up and out of the horrible rut I was in. They also helped my family understand addiction, and what they needed to do to help me, and themselves. The atmosphere is relaxed, comfortable, and the incredibly supportive! I’ve been sober ever since. Out of all the places I went, this was the place where it finally clicked for me. Their long term program and tough love approach were exactly what I needed no sugarcoating, no excuses, just real recovery and real accountability. I will say that it's more for people with drug/alcohol issues because her problems were more anxiety and depression related rather than substance but a lot of the discussions and focus were on ways to stay sober. But some of the strategies and coping skills were very useful to her and has helped her in her recovery. Melissa Diaz 1 year ago I was at Center for Discovery for 5 and a half months. Out of all the 31 treatment places I have been this one was by far the best. The staff are amazing and so caring and really have all the clients best interest in mind. You are not just another client… you become part of the congress house where everyone cares so deeply about everyone. The staff go above and beyond to make sure that everyone is getting the right treatment that is good for them. I liked how individualized each person’s treatment was. I am very lucky that I got to have Angela as my therapist. Angela helped me in more ways than I could ever express. This in it’s own shows how amazing and devoted the staff are to ensuring each person’s recovery. Angela was going on call (leaving as the full time therapist) but stayed an extra three months to be my therapist until I discharged. The clinical director Sam took vacation days so that Angela could come in and see me (technically Angela wasn’t supposed to come in because she was on call). because Sam knew how important it was for my recovery to continue the work with Angela. I have never been to any other treatment center that would do that or even think about doing that. That in itself made a huge impact on me that they were willing to go out of their ways to ensure I get the best possible treatment. Sam is an amazing clinical director and I really look up to her a lot. Some of the staff have been there for 8-10 years which is rare for ed treatment centers. That in itself shows how great Sam is. The groups were all great as well and the counselors are all amazing. I learned so many coping skills that I implement into my everyday life. You can also check in with your therapist as many times as you need and you can also check in with the other therapist’s as well. Dorcas and all the nurses are also amazing and go above and beyond to make sure that everyone is okay. Dr. B the medical doctor is the best doctor I have ever met in my life. I looked forward to seeing her every week! If you have the opportunity to go to this specific cfd location I 100% recommend it! It is honestly life changing. I relapsed almost immediately but this made me realize that unlike other treatment programs, this program works HARD to heal deeper psychological situations contributing to your eating disorder. From every counselor (Allyson, Katie, Rosa, Jordan, Kim, Tasha, etc) , nurse (Aiasha, Dorcas, Debbie, Tiana, Shantel, etc.) therapist (Angela, Saer, Melissa, Lauren) to dietician (Simone) they work to know every aspect of your person in order to appropriately treat you. The work toward recovery is long, difficult, and emotionally exhausting but the staff AND program director (Samantha) are there for you in the wink of an eye. There is a camaraderie between the patients and staff that is not present in ANY other program; where they just check a list for recovery as if it is an equation. Staff works with insurance to make sure you have adequate enough time to truly heal and recover physically and mentally. When the world feels unsafe, this house is a safe haven for those with eating disorders and trauma. This program also prepares you to continue your recovery in the outside world where you may be surrounded by a toxic culture or environment. If it was forced upon you or just not ready then may be the place but it may take you more than 1 attempt . In the beginning it’s about reducing amount of your intake substance as you increase amount of medication. That amount and that pace is unique to the individual and CCC recognizes that and also respects that . As long as you trend in proper direction and continue to show progress you have the support of your Counselor. Once stabilized they develop your treatment plan. When you have decreased and eliminated substances and have found a comfortable level of medication dosage that is when you now replaced your bad habit routine with a daily monitored stabilized routine that also is unique to the comfort level of individual discussing a wide range of topics with your assigned counselor: once trust is earned having clean random monthly tests you don’t have to be at the facility unless you chose to and you can begin to take home monitored medication to responsibly proceed with your outpatient program. Your counselor will encourage the timing the is best to decrease at the pace that works for you until you are done and substance free. So much better than 30 day, 90 day ,12 month 0r any predetermined length of time programs because every person is unique whether they feel confident they can do it in a year, 3 yrs, 5 , 10 or stay with this support system as a new part of life what is important is that new life is what you WANTED to achieve and join the team of success stories! In most other reviews I agree that it is about money for the center , but what business , paying their employees ,is not about making money to stay afloat? Also not all counselors are ex addicts that have felt & know exactly what & how we feel, but we can open up & let them learn about the uncontrollable disease & struggles of how our mind works! I saw some of the negative comments and I totally disagree. The counselors are awesome. They are not judgemental. They call clients on their BS!! Of course there are clients who are mandated. That's every rehab. But there are also people who are there because they need help and want to be there. I loved the counselors because they were very in tune to the disease of addiction. Someone mentioned the "older white male" counselor. He was one of my favorites. They are very compassionate. They also run their groups efficiently. I've been to some outpatient programs where the counselors can't control the groups and by the time the group is over...I forgot what the actual group topic was.
