I still remember my counselor at Purcell, Andrew saying that everything I lost due to alcohol and/or drugs will come back to me in a bigger, better form and he was so right! Douglas Meyer 2 weeks ago Miss Tara B and Miss Laura M are two of the most helpful and ambitious counselors that I have come across in 35 yrs while in and out of multiple rehabs. Had it not been for them I certainly would not have had a safe environment to discharge to. I would also like to say neither of them were even my assigned Case Manager but were still willing to go above and beyond on multiple occasions to help with with whatever I needed while I was there. They are two of the most down to earth staff that I have ever encountered. Conifer Park should feel honored to have them be part of their staff. You can tell they BOTH care deeply about their patients and is shows through their quality of work!. I attended the Mountain location that was in Wells, NY- I wouldn’t trade what I was taught for anything. It is called The Freedom Model for a reason. ❤️❤️❤️Their program uses science and a genuine look at life regarding both what worked and what didn’t about all of the choices I made. I don’t believe daily declarations that we are “powerless” offer much growth like other modalities. I’m in long term recovery for 8+ yrs and I’m not anonymous, nor ashamed or regretful bc I can own every choice. It was a combo of St Jude’s and Landmark courses combined. I highly recommend if you or someone you know, has frequent relapses and 12 step places haven’t made a lasting impact, or if you’re someone who appreciates the rational and science behind our behaviors. I will say, I did my assignments , procrastinated at some, but I did them. I didn’t have anything to lose and I went in there disbelieving anything could have me believe that I could live happy without CM. I didn’t want to go at all lol! Back then it took hell and high water to get me on a plane, (I missed flight on more than 1 occasion) but Im so grateful I did eventually get on the flight and make it there. Best advice from Rit Santelli… “Don’t give up what you want most, for what you want in the moment”- I had triggers when I got home to Tx back then, but I knew what was happening and what I wanted most mattered more. I am now helping a roommate from there who is about to be released from Prison after a crime he committed in 2006. The only thing that keeps us sober is our experience at St. Jude and you may think it is easy to stay sober when in prison. You are so wrong! Though not happy with his crime my wife and I am supporting his release because I know it was a under the influence crime that drugs lead to. Being clean makes for better decision making. On the other I have never had an organization refuse to listen to my feedback like Mohawk Opportunities. The staff at lower levels are grouchy and talk down to you, it's very demoralizing and triggers the very issues they claim to be helping me with. I guess what I'm saying is the staff needs sensitivity training, particularly for someone claiming to work in the mental health field. I'm high functioning so if I'm getting treated like this I fear for the other clients. So sometimes I feel patronized, I get the feeling they aren't familiar with clients with cptsd. However, I am eternally grateful to these folks for aiding me & giving me a beautiful 1st apartment. Thank you everyone at Mohawk & because of that you get 4 stars despite my concerns. Mary Kay is very helpful with solving issues and always calls back to give you an update. Seneca had advocated for me through a very difficult situation that I was going through with a psychiatrist at the family counseling center. My new psychiatrist Fran is a fresh of breath air from who I’ve dealt with there in the 6 years. She understood the situation that occurred and did not judge me, instead, she asked me what happened and listened to me and made her own judgment call. She has helped me in many different situations and has resolved issues that were taking a long time when I would speak to others. Boss Lauren takes very special care to curate a wonderful staff that all have their own amazing unique addition to the department. Staff there have all been there a while so it's not like most healthcare with high staff turnover. They are down a few staff when I was there so my only complaint is because of that. There's just not enough time in the day for the staff to get to all 14 patients every concern, need, gripe, request, or vent session. That said, important things are ALWAYS taken care of asap. It's the little seemingly petty things that staff doesn't always have the time to address as much as they'd like to. It's only a 14 bed facility in a hospital setting so you bet for the most part you're going to get some really great individualized counseling care and treatment plan that really is built around each person's specific needs and goals. It's a great program. Like anywhere you have to want it to get the most out of it. Of course you never know what the atmosphere is gonna be like because of the changing patients it's never a guarantee you'll go into a good or bad bunch. There is no sneaking doing drugs or smoking there, no sexual foolery. It's to small of a facility to have those kinds of problems and thank God cause that's the worst things to have to deal with when going to rehab. It's not like some places where u end up coming out with more connections and being more educated on how to be an addict then before u went in. You come out with more community help resources and, with tools for being an addict in recovery. I recommend this place with all my heart. This stuff works, in addition I’ll add my counselor Katie is a straight up G. She truly cares about her clients. The rest of the admin staff is lovely as well. Our dosing nurses are fast and friendly. The only negative is the head nurse zaria or whatever, she leaves ALOT to be desired to say the least.
