This place saved my life, I was entirely lost and mentally stranded after years of mistakes. I never learned how to function as an adult in the real world, which exactly what Roots taught me. The sober living program provides a very structured schedule, helps build disciplines, and teaches real life skills alongside how to live a happy life in recovery. I'm eternally grateful for everything I learned here and to now be employed with them to help other people like myself!

When I first got to roots I was very shut down and isolated, I wanted nothing to do with anyone including myself, I had no hope left. I have now been at roots for a year and I can truly say that roots gave me my life back. I have learned how to trust others, myself, and be more vulnerable which has helped me make connections with other sober people in my community, and rebuild the ones that I had tore down in my active addiction. The structure helped me to stay accountable and relearn what everyday life is like outside of using, I forgot how to be a human outside of drugs and alcohol and roots helped me to build up my skills again. I could go on and on about how much roots has changed my life but I can assure you that in the year I have been here I am a completely different person and I am so beyond grateful I came to roots and that the people within roots never lost hope in me!

Most times i have to call to get medication refills the staff is nice, lately they have been better than ever. Super helpful, kind and respectful making sure any questions or needs are met to the best of their abilities. I felt my self in crisis mode, made a call to talk to my psychiatrist and the guy who answered told me he would send her a message, a little later in the day he calls me back and said he heard back from her and proceeded to let me know that information. Within the phone call he really made me feel heard and understood without judgement. Which someone who struggles with mental health while trying to maintain a “normal life” appreciates more than you know. There have been times i’ve had to get my prescription refilled and i get anxious making the phone call because there were a couple different staff members that would come across annoyed, & so it would make me feel bad or embarrassed after hanging up, due to how someone communicates through a phone conversation. I have been with ABC for a couple of years now, and over all i’ve had a pleasant experience. I love my psychiatrist, and the relationship that’s formed over the years. She listens to my concerns, has been patient, kind, makes me feel like she gets the hard things life throws our way but also tries to work with me to understand just because she could give me a handful of pills doesn’t means she wants to. Life is hard sometimes but as a community, we need to realize that so are we.

The process took approximately an hour and could possibly have been shorter had we not exchanged some additional background information during the interview.

I've been bringing my dad to this VA for the last few months, and after just our first visit, we knew he was in good hands. Every specialist we've seen have been nothing but hands on, attentive, thorough, empathetic, patient and helpful. From Dr.B in oncology, to Tess up in endoscopy, these women are some of the most kind medical professionals I have ever met, and I hope they know their kindness goes a long way and is still thought of well after. I have had so many wonderful interactions with the staff there, there was a nurse who ordered my dad some lunch as he was in recovery after a procedure, which was such a nice thing to do, I didn't catch her name but she might be the charge nurse in endoscopy maybe? Another thing I really liked about this VA is that if you look lost and wandering the halls, there are many friendly faces around to get you pointed in the right direction, and most of the time they'll ask YOU first lol. There was also a younger man up front who helped lead me to the other building over to 114 through the tunnel, he didn't have to, but he did, just over all blown away by the difference of health care compared to the other VA my dad was going to. And with already having seen someone in Pulmonary, Radiation/oncology, Endoscopy, ED department, mental health, Hematology, Chemotherapy, Pain clinic, XRAY, PET SCAN, and MRI, I have nothing but good things to say. Thank you kindly, for everything.

I would like to recognize several members of the staff who made a genuinely positive impact on my recovery over the past few days. Dr. Parikh, Nurses: Brenda, Paloma, & Gabriella, Therapists: Tonya, Jordan, & Sam, Tech: Den (she was working the night of 8/15/26: I believe that was her name), and Paul (AODA) , each contributed in meaningful ways to my experience. I also want to recognize Tech: Christopher; while I didn’t directly work with him, I witnessed him help multiple patients with their needs, questions & requests; he was immediately proactive in helping patients the moment they needed help with something. Their compassion, professionalism, attentiveness, & willingness to help did not go unnoticed by us patients. There were also several other techs, nurses, & another doctor who were wonderful, although unfortunately I do not remember their names. They treated me with kindness & dignity during a time when that mattered tremendously, & I am genuinely grateful for the care they provided. In the event of a difficult situation, staff and directors are proactive to ensure that the care provided by Aurora was up to standard. I want this review to primarily recognize the people who did make a difference. Their efforts & kindness had a real impact on other patients’ & my recovery; I appreciate them more than they probably realize. Overall, sincere appreciation for the exceptional individuals who helped make a very difficult experience much easier.

What I will remember most is not the building, the groups, or the program—it is the people. The treatment team, MHTs, nurses, housekeeping staff, and everyone who quietly showed up for us every single day treated me with dignity when I was struggling to find it for myself. They saw a person before they saw a patient. I came here afraid that this experience would become a chapter of my life I wanted to forget. Instead, it became one I will always be grateful I lived. To everyone at Rogers Brown Deer who cared for me, listened to me, challenged me, laughed with me, and helped me find my way back to myself: there are people walking around in this world who are doing better because you chose this work. Roger's Behavioral Health Brown Deer is amazing. I had a chance to be in another Residential Facility with Roger's Health in Oconomowoc, there is a reason that people from all over the country come here to get better. I came in with a lot of things that needed to help fixing and to better know myself and my mental health. After a little over a month, I am doing so much better and going back home to my family. I am incredibly thankful for stuff here and all that they done for me on my journey to a better me.

I came to Brown Deer adult residential having given up, feeling like I was a lot cause, and no hope that I had a chance or that they could help. They allowed me to not only come get treatment, but they gave me the tools I needed to change my life. I will be the first to admit their jobs are anything but easy, but they do a phenomenal job. I have only ever been in the adult residential side, so I cannot speak on the other units, but the adult residential program absolutely changed my life. They prioritized my safety, comfort, and taught me how to prioritize me. When I think of when I was finally able to turn my life around, Brown Deer will always be a huge part of that. The impact they had on me is truly remarkable. After 6 weeks there and completing the program I can confidently say I have confidence in myself, I love myself, I am proud of myself, I am not a lost cause, and I CAN DO HARD THINGS. I am not the same person I was at admission, not even a little bit. If you are struggling and feel like you are out of options, give this place a shot and be willing to try their advice because even when you don’t want to hear it, it works. Thank you to the team at Brown Deer for giving me the tools to turn my life around. Yall brought the light back into my eyes and I will be forever grateful. p.s. I came in broken from PTSD and alcohol and wasn't sure this place could help. They surprised me. Had real therapy that went deep, not just surface stuff. EMDR hit hard but helped me sleep again. Talkin with other vets made me feel less alone. Docs knew what they were doing too. Only thing I’d change is more group time. Still, I walked out stronger than I came in. Real thankful for that.

Came here after struggling with pain meds from a work injury. WCS got me set up on Suboxone, which made a big difference. I appreciated being able to stay in touch with my wife and kids throughout, that really kept me grounded. They also helped me start thinking about getting back to work. Not everything was perfect (wait times could be better) but the staff truly care. It’s a solid place if you're serious about getting clean.

My experience with TMS was very pleasant at the Bluemound Clinic. The representatives at the front office were kind and helpful. My initial meeting with Brandy was very thorough. We discussed my entire situation that led me there, and she informed me of what to expect. During the process I had questions for her and she was available to answer them. My techs were Emily and Ashley whom were amazing! I felt extremely welcomed, cared for, and validated. I was able to open up and talk to them, I expressed how I doubted my own emotions, and they were there to reinforce my value. Ashley took the time to refer me to a therapist there which I am looking forward to begin services with. Everyone was approachable which is very important in this field. I feel TMS has improved my overall situation. I have been able to sleep better, and have more stability with my depression and anxiety. I will say toward the end of the process, I had heavy things happening personally. I had some down days but I still feel like I had more control over them verses without the TMS, I would have been in a dark place. Overall, I recommend this service and I would definitely go back if needed in the future!

I’ve been a patient of West Grove in Oak Creek for around 5 years, maybe longer. In the beginning I saw various providers for my psychiatry needs, but have been connected and consistently seeing Dr. Kurter for around 3 years now. Wow! He changed my life. I am so thankful to have him as a provider. When we met, he reassured me that there was help for what I was seeking help with and was able to connect me with medication that has made a drastic change in how I see the world. I struggled for years and years with my mental health, and what I appreciated about him was that he was so knowledgeable about what I was experiencing and could explain to me in a way that I could understand why I was experiencing certain things as well as how I could help myself and how to monitor myself in the future. He was also so helpful to me and my family when my husband and I decided to try for another baby. I think what’s kind of cool is Dr. Kurter knows me so well that he can tell when I’m struggling with my mental health or other needs based off of just a few minutes of talking. I’ve also been connected with my therapist Anna for 2-3 years now. She is amazing! She listens to me so well, and doesn’t push me too hard to get to deep into the things I need to address until I’m ready. She’s seen me at some low moments, and has taught me how to work through those times and always emphasizes taking care of myself. I also appreciate Elizabeth at the front desk. She knows me by my nick name, since I don’t generally go by my full name, and I seriously appreciate that because i don’t have to explain who I am over and over again, she just knows. Elizabeth always helps me schedule appointments out months at a time, which is super helpful for my scheduling needs. Honestly, Dr. Kurter and Anna are always super flexible in their scheduling as well, which is super helpful. Elizabeth also helps me figure out any insurance questions I have, which is so helpful because I can be kind of clueless about co pays and all that stuff. I also forgot to mention, I absolutely love that I can see my therapist through telehealth. I have a newborn and it’s just much easier to not have to travel with her when I have an appointment. I love West Grove so much and appreciate what they’ve done for my life so much that I’ve actually referred 2 other people for care here. I truly mean it when I say, if you’re looking for providers who care about you as a whole person, I definitely recommend going to West Grove.

SURRENDER YOUR ADDICTION AND BEGIN AGAIN! For anyone struggling with addiction, or that knows a loved one struggling, this place can be a saving grace. I spent my teens and 20's a slave to drugs, state rehab, jail, none of it worked. 12 years clean now and The Salvation Army ARC in Milwaukee welcomed me with open arms, no questions asked. Did I have to work to stay there? Yes. All beneficiaries have to volunteer their time. Did I have 3 quality meals a day (including a salad bar at lunch and dinner?) Yes! Did I have to go to church? Yes! ( and thank GOD I did). They clothed me, fed me, gave me a safe warm place to sleep and a relationship with God. What did I have to give them? 40 hours a week as a volunteer in a number of roles at the facility. How many of us work more than that for less reward spiritually and physically? This place saved my life and not only did it save mine, after I graduated from the program (with a real job and my own apartment near the lake) my sister went to the womens facility in Romulus Michigan and she is now clean, with a husband, house and 2 children. Thanks be to God and the Salvation Army. Any previous "clients" of this facility with complaints are clearly entitled and dont understand that getting clean and sober requires a commitment from the USER and the facilitator. The Salvation Army couldnt provide these things without your work while you attend the program. Thankfully, Gods grace is free and part of the program. Stop being selfish, surrender yourself, your selfishness, ego and time to finally make a change in your life. I "sacrificed" 6 months of my life for an eternity and long term prosperity. Thank you again ARC, I will remember you this Christmas when our family is making charitable donations.
