Every time I had a question she helped gave me a list of doctors I can check up with when I got done with treatment for my blood pressure she had my back tryin to get me away from my bad thoughts She didnt just do her job she went out of her way when the others wasnt trying to She hooked me up with info helped me figure out how to get my Social Security card and even gave me a journal so I could put my thoughts down when my head was all over the place. This woman helped me get my life right for real. I respect her to the fullest, and she deserves all the props. She made sure that I had the right resources and she was always available when I needed. Her group was great but the individual therapy that I had with her was even more meaningful and really helped me open my eyes to the problems that I have and that I’ve continued to get over. The staff are great, and the beds/rooms are comfortable with soft mattresses, TVs, fans, blankets, etc. The nursing staff prioritizes you and your level of comfort as much as possible. I was comfortable during my entire stay, despite requiring a fairly high level of care. They’re quick and efficient, and many of the staff are in recovery, themselves. Groups are spaced out so you’re able to rest while also being able to get started in your recovery journey. You can smoke and/or vape every 2 hours. They will charge the vape battery for you. They maintain MAT if you’re already on it, and they use Subutex for opiate withdrawals. The aftercare team is very good. It’s recommended to follow up with some form of continual treatment after the week you’d be there. I agree with that. This is the only private detox facility in NC that takes Medicaid, and it’s very nice. For anyone seeking help for themselves or a loved one, I highly recommend Freedom. You will be respected, heard, and treated with dignity. You won't be dismissed, all your questions will be answered. Be completely honest so that you can receive the exact care that you need. You could not ask for better accomodations or understanding. The environment is immediately welcoming. Its quiet, peaceful. They have everything you need, you really just need clothing. (Its a bit chilly, bring hoodies and fuzzy socks) There are even laundry facilities. You will be provided with a vape or nicotine patches if you use nicotine products. You may rest as much as you need, the staff will let you sleep through the night, vitals are during the day. You can call your family, except for during group meetings. No visitors, but the stay is short. The counselors and peer support specialists are very honest, open, and eager to help you with your personal journey, without being pushy or making you feel rushed. Whether faith based or evidence based care is right for you, that is your choice. There are options for both approaches! The idea of group meetings was terrifying for me, an introvert, an addict full of shame and guilt. You are not obligated to contribute, that was reassuring. But I was surprised at myself for wanting to contribute and engage. It was a bit sad leaving. While here, I was not just a junkie, just an alcoholic, a lost cause, all of the negative adjectives I used to describe myself. I wasn't the things my family called me. I wasn't an echo of the childhood I lost. I wasn't an empty, lonely vessel on autopilot. I was a person. A human. Im more than my story, but sharing our perspectives and caring for each other felt like being part of a family. A family where you aren't the black sheep. It was almost overwhelming to feel that kind of support and HOPE. Ill be honest; When I came in, i wasn't ready to get help. The timing was just right. But very quickly that changed. They made me want to be better. Not for recognition or pats on the back. Not for attention or brownie points.
