But what I can say, is this, There is a counselor named Keith if you were a seasoned addict and you need genuine counselor, I want you to request Keith. This man has been in my life for 10 years, and as I came back-and-forth between clinics, he always became my counselor again. Never judgmental, Always always rational and you can’t help but to put a smile on your face when you’re around him his aura, It is purple. And I’m telling you right now he is a blessing to this place. The program director is also a counselor that has been there for a while and moved her way up. She is also fair and a sweetheart tells me to have a good morning every day. The financial person that does insurance she will work with you as long as you are doing for yourself and trying to make a better way for yourself they will help you. The staff are great, and the beds/rooms are comfortable with soft mattresses, TVs, fans, blankets, etc. The nursing staff prioritizes you and your level of comfort as much as possible. I was comfortable during my entire stay, despite requiring a fairly high level of care. They’re quick and efficient, and many of the staff are in recovery, themselves. Groups are spaced out so you’re able to rest while also being able to get started in your recovery journey. You can smoke and/or vape every 2 hours. They will charge the vape battery for you. They maintain MAT if you’re already on it, and they use Subutex for opiate withdrawals. The aftercare team is very good. It’s recommended to follow up with some form of continual treatment after the week you’d be there. I agree with that. This is the only private detox facility in NC that takes Medicaid, and it’s very nice. For anyone seeking help for themselves or a loved one, I highly recommend Freedom. She befriended "Will" long before he was willing to seek help. He was never alone in life because she checked on him regularly and gently coaxed him into getting the help that he desperately needed. Approximately 7 months after reaching out, Will made the decision to better his life by accepting Peggy's offer of help. Once his decision was made, Peggy instantly started moving mountains to get him the help he needed. She was in daily contact with his family offering her advice, supplying helpful contact information, and even talking him through his fears when they became too great and he wanted to run. As a result of Peggy's unrelenting quest to help Will, he has received a Certificate of Completion from the Midwood Addiction Program where he received counseling, housing, a sense of community, independence, and gradually took control of his life again. A little over a month after graduating, Will has found employment and is ready to start this new healthy chapter in his life. When asked if he ever talks to Peggy anymore, the answer is "yes! she's full of valuable resources.". How do you thank someone who has saved the life of someone you thought was lost forever? I had some bumps along the way until I met Evie Dillard. She was so helpful to me by giving me extra resources to get ready to exit treatment. I can tell you the bad was not only exaggerated but most just someone salty and spreading total BS. There are no rodents and I've never been to a house that had zero bugs not even a fly before I got here, not even my father's house. Ok so these 2 floor some with a upper smoking/ lounge deck are nice nice! 4 bedroom 3 full double sink bathrooms , two with walk-in shower , I bath / shower and a half bath by living room. It's fully stocked with any pans coffee pot anything you need. The staff are some of the nicest ppl and you absolutely get to know them. You are treated pretty much how you treat them. Just be kind! Midwood center was the one I went to and the staff there are always awesome. If you need something just speak up, I've seen ppl come through and expect everyone to be mind readers. I would list everyone I love at Harmony but I'm horrible with names but there are standouts. Christine, Crystn (sik). Byron,Lisa, Miss Gail ( Amber always pushing DBT therapy 😬) Bobby, the tech who's name escapes me that calls everyone "Big Dog) And Lastly but firstly Miss Peggy who is the sweetest person I've ever met and she saved my life just by getting to know me calling my phone to talk to someone else. She had my back and actually drove to Salvation Army and helped me get insurance, talked me into Salvation Army in first place and bought my broke ass two packs of smokes She is absolutely a gift from God and deserves to be the highest paid at Harmony! The difference in Mcleod and otherr clincs is Mcleod is really set up to help you succeed. If you come to people as people and treat the staff with respect and understanding, they will do the same for you. I have dosed at the other clinic in Gastonia before I came to Mcleod and I prefer Mcleod 100 percent. Staff really does care here about your life and your recovery. Abby is wonderful and will do whatever she can to help you if you have a problem, the nurses are all nice and polite, the front desk ladies are always friendly and smiling (even at 5 am), my counselor is great, and the peer support staff (Karen) is wonderful as well. So like the other review said, " you get what you put in,." If you want to have a better quality of life and become and maintain your soberity, go to Mcleod, they have everything there to help you get where you need. They definitely over charge you for treatment. Their facilities aren't the best....however there are some people here doing almighty work. One such person is Hakim. He is a counselor here. He is a good man with a good heart, he cares about people. I wish he would transfer to California and be my counselor there. He really helped to see many things in a different way. He's very passionate about his patients and the job he does. I would guess they don't pay him nearly enough for how valuable he is to this facility. I hope to see Hakim again one day. Methadone is a safe medication, it stops withdrawals from illicit opiates and does not get the person in treatment "high", which allows the patient to get their lives back. This verses cold turkey/abstaining is night and day with success rates. Or I like to call that the "just pray about it and hope" method. BTW it doesn't work. If it did, nobody would have an addiction. These people complaining are still failing drug test and trying to play the system. Eventually u have to admit defeat and surrender to ur recovery and stop trying to use illegal substances by counting days till ur testing is done or sneaking in urine or basically trying to manipulate ur recovery process. I promise u will get out of recovery what energy u put into it as well . Yes, there are a couple nursed that seem to not get we r patients and we pay thousands of dollars a year to be there and yet they treat us as if we r at the dmv. I arrived scared and uncertain about what to expect, but the entire team helped make the process feel safe, comfortable, and manageable. The facility was exceptionally clean, modern, and comfortable. My private room was welcoming, with a comfortable memory foam mattress, plenty of closet space, and a private, updated, and immaculate bathroom. Those details may seem small, but when you’re going through something as difficult as detox, having a comfortable and peaceful environment makes a real difference. The medical staff was incredible. They were caring, compassionate, knowledgeable, and attentive throughout my stay. I always felt like I was being taken care of and that my concerns were being heard. The physicians were equally impressive. They took the time to meet with me privately, listen to me, answer my questions, and help me understand what I was going through. My son spent 5 months at New Hope and he has come out with a lot more knowledge and a lot more tools to get through life than what he walked in with. Is he permanently changed? No one knows. But he received more help in the 5 months he was there than any other program we've attempted to do in his life. Hands down, you need a good therapist. We had the best. Nikki was amazing and made all the difference for us and for my son during his time there. The biggest challege is that your kid has to WANT help and WANT to change. New Hope can't make them want to change and do all the work for them. Sometimes understaffed? Sure. I can't imagine how incredibly difficult it is to keep fully staffed in a place like this. But most of those staff members really care about the kids, at least the ones who are doing what they need to do. My son built great relationships with most of the staff members, and today at his discharge, were all in tears, giving gifts, sending him off with so much love and hope for a brighter future. Not every day was great. Some days were harder than others. The outcome is what matters and we got the best outcome we could hope for. I know not everyone has had a positive experience there, but I certainly did. I was in the Compass group with Erin (PSS) and Madeline (counselor). For a long time, I had people telling me I needed to get sober, or even that I had to get sober, but Erin and Madeline were the ones who actually believed that I could. I think that’s what made the difference, along with the fact that they are completely non-judgmental. If you are honest with them and they see you are trying, they will truly go to bat for you. My case manager, Kira, also helped me with so much more than just my case. Whether it was clothing, medical appointments, transportation, or housing referrals, they are there to help; you just have to let them know what you need. I originally went to Keystone for MAT. To be honest, at first I just wanted my Suboxone and thought I could cheat the system (you can’t!). But what I have now is gratitude, hope, and excitement for the future. Mike Costlow 2 years ago I was a patient here 4/20/2016 and it saved my life. I now have over 8 years clean and am living my best life. If I didn’t come here and continue treatment when I left I wouldn’t be alive. Thanks to my mom, she found this place, and a Higher Power who put me right where I needed to be. I liked it because there were medical professionals who treated me more than fair, even nice, and not overlooked or disrespected. They helped me come up with a plan that suited my needs. I was heard and felt I was safe. It was a secure place, not able to have my cell phone and had limited calling times and even harder abilities to get drugs, if I had more freedom I would have left and gotten high. Those detox days were hell, but the medicine they gave me to come off of substances helped. I opted out of MAT bc I used to abuse it. They had an enclosed smoking area too for us (which was considerate) and people from 12 step programs bringing hope. The facility played a video of a Celtics ball player who struggled with addiction and stayed clean. That video changed my life and gave me hope as I used to be an athlete. I had no insurance and they worked with my mom and I to sort out a payment plan. I payed them back once I got clean. 10/10 stars. ✨ Even more if I could. I didn’t attend outpatient treatment, although they offered a lot of services, because I went to a rehab across the state. I am so grateful I gave this place a chance to hold the fate of my life in it. I was in good hands.
