Carolyn is understanding but a bit stricter I believe she kind of can come off intimidating but she means well and she does care. And all the people at the front at the reception desk have always been so good working with me about getting appointments and those kind of things. I would say to the people that are giving bad reviews maybe you should give it another chance or maybe go somewhere else trying to find drugs because they're not going to give drugs that's not what they're for they're there to give you treatment and to help you and I'm not trying to offend anybody I'm just saying that this place is good for what it is and it has helped me and my son. I have been to other treatment places and they just wrote you a prescription and sent you on your way after paying anywhere from $250 to $400, because other places usually don't take medical insurance but this place and the people here CARE! They do drug screens, they have help with everyday stuff like resources to places to help u get a home, with the RSS staff! And they require you to do counseling because the medication won't work if your not doing other things in your recovery process! He has a complex list of mental health diagnosis and despite our best efforts we were not able to help him overcome his meltdowns. We decided to try this facility when home was no longer safe. The admission staff and admitting nurse were very kind and answered all my questions. In the beginning he really hard a hard time and gave the staff a hard time but they continued to work with him and helped him gain more self control. He quickly became attached to his therapist Ms. Shanika and he loved his sessions with her. We live 7 hours away so she made it a point to offer zoom family therapy sessions and that was wonderful. It took my son some time to finally get on board with the program and once he did he began earning outing. He attended multiple movies and had trips to McDonald's and a pizza buffet. Those rewards really stuck with him. The transport staff met me and some other parents once about 5 hours from the facility so we could have a home pass. That was a huge help!! The teachers also did a wonderful job working with my son whom has been homeschooled. They were very accommodating to his needs. The doctors also did an amazing job quickly adjusting his meds. All of his medical needs were addressed during his stay. So to wrap up, he's been home one week and I'm so thankful full for the progress he has made and the skills he gained. He has autism and bipolar manic disorder. He wasn't diagnosed correctly at McKenzie Medical and the Dr here got him on the correct medication. I'd like to add that the medicaid in Tennessee is horrible! No dental or vision coverage??? What's up with that?? and finding a good Dr, especially a psychiatrist is a huge task.
