This VA Hospital is unique in that it actually does the job it was designed to do. The treatment of wounded veterans which they do absolutely excellent. the staff is always on point and helpful the only draw back here is services are limited you get seen right away but some specialties arnt staffed requiring community referrals. that's where the ball falls most referrals are completed quickly some drag on. overall the treatment of injured veterans is excellent. being in the VA system over 20 years I've seen some horror stories ie; Hampton the worst VA hospital ever. if your in the treatment area of VAMC Amarillo you're in for a pleasant surprise.

My next step absolutely changed my life for the better!!! I started the program in April and today I have 8 months and 28 days clean and sober….! This place saved my life!!! I was going through treatment here and then I unexpectedly moved back to Dallas. I was unable to get into a clinic there for reasons unrelated to WTCR. I relapsed and I knew that I needed to get back to Amarillo and back into "my clinic" here. I did everything I could to try to get me and my dog back to Amarillo. 7 very long months passed and I was desperate and ready to give up when a ride back to Amarillo found me. Me and my dog arrived back in Amarillo around 2 am. We had no place to go and no one knew that we were coming back. I was there when they unlocked the door. I told them of the dreams I'd had about being back here inside this building and how happy I was until I woke up and it had only been a dream. I would be heartbroken and just bawling. I had come to the clinic hoping to get an appointment for intake. I never thought I would be taken in that very moment, yet I was. I thank God for these people each and every day!!! I have met and made friends with some of the most amazing people!!! I have had my hopes restored! If you are in need of help this is the best place to begin. Everyone here whether it's staff or client is happy to offer encouragement. This place saved not only my life but untold countless other lives as well.

I can't express enough how AMAZING this hospital is. From Chelsea at er registration, to the sweet nurses in the er. Dr Jefferson. The nursing staff in the admission rooms upstairs. My husband got very lucky. Had blood clots in his legs and lungs and they immediately caught it. Got him tests, scans, IVs, pic lines, ultra sounds within MINUTES and we walked in through the ER doors. No waiting. No going without updates. I am blown away at the kindness, urgency, RESPECT, (he is overweight and was very shy, they never ever made us feel bad or like a burden) intelligence of the entire staff, and over all experience here. They made sure we both ate. Were comfortable. We didn't need or want for anything our entire stay. I will never again go anywhere else in a crisis. Thank you so so so much elk City hospital. You saved my husband, gave me and our family peace of mind and so much love and support.

I am truly thankful for the Serenity Center in Plainview. The program helped me with hurts and hangups that I carried from my addiction. I am more confident in my recovery emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. The staff treated my daughter and I with the upmost respect and loved US every step of the 90 days. If you are a struggling mother they offer a women's and children's program, THAT WORKS! Thank you with all my heart. I now have a stronger bond with my family and children.
