This is by far one of the best PHP (Partial Hospitalization Programs) I have ever experienced in my entire journey of combatting this ugly disease of addiction. After arriving feeling hopeless, worthless, helpless, void of any will or desire left to go on, I have a new renewed belief in myself and hope for a new and promising future. The staff is phenomenal, and Hind is exceptional. Please do yourself a favor and take some time out to get well. I am so glad I did.

There should be absolutely nothing bad to say about this program. They helped me tremendously and they do it without making you pay. It's a great program. The staff Brandon, Jay, Mrs Green, Capt Jennifer, Capt Damon, annso many more are the BEST!! I can't think of a better Christian program to go to or to recommend!!

As a graduate of this program I am just here to refute the negative review left by a former beneficiary. Before you enter the program you are given in detail what you are signing up for. You are told from the beginning this is a Work Therapy program, and that you will have to attend Christian based spiritual classes and services. The resident managers have to deal with up to 100 something men so please don't listen to that one negative review about the program itself and about the program employees who's names should not be mentioned. Without God placing me here I would be on the street, dead in my addiction or worse. They do not force you to stay. The doors are meant to keep randoms out, not to keep someone unwilling to change their life, in. If you are struggling with addiction, or want to grow in your relationship with Christ, or even if you have no religion you are welcome here. But again, this is a work Therapy, Christian based program. Those who complain know exactly what they are signing up for . God bless.

I don't care what y'all say but does care just do what your supposed to do and if your late call ahead they have obligations they have to also hold y'all accountable. I was literally right at the clinic as they were locking the door and I sat on the phone for 6 minutes trying to make sure I can get dosed. They couldn't get a hold of them at first and they asked if I wanted them to keep trying. Instead of giving up I said yes... And they second time they got a hold of the director and she said they would still dose me... Thank you guys. I understand people have lives but thank you for considering mine today. I truly want to stay clean and this just saved me. Be responsible guys! They care but you have to do your part.

Kara Zuege had these remarks about Ms. Elle. Ms. Elle has given me something I’ve been without for a very long time: true support and someone in my corner. With her assistance, I have been able to set both mental and physical goals and work toward achieving them. I appreciate her so much for reminding me what it feels like to accomplish something and to experience the reward of putting forth effort and working hard. She has guided me not only in my journey of overcoming substance abuse but also in many other areas of my life. I feel more than blessed to have been assigned to Ms. Elle, who has always gone above and beyond expectations and has been there every step of the way to keep me grounded and focused on the prize. I look forward to continuing this journey with one of BHG’s best counselors.

It has taken me a minute to get my life back on track after being released from serving 5 years in the Virginia State Prison System. Trust me I never thought in a million years that 5 years in prison would be a part of my story. But it was part of Gods plan. You see God had to sit me down for 5 years to gain perspective on just how reckless my life had become. Before prison I was a womanizing, home wrecking drunkard. I had no respect towards anyone’s marriage vows, let alone my own. Because I was being selfish I chose to get involved with an old high school girlfriend that was married with 4 kids. Our relationship should have been left in 1995. To spare you the details. I made my usual selfish mistakes and caused so much anger in a woman who truly loved and tried to help me. In that anger she attacked me with fists, instead of responding in my usual humble blocking of fists, I met her with the same rage she had towards me. In the end of this mess I was sentenced to 45 years by a Virginia Judge (https://www.richmondbar.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Chesterfield.pdf )with a 6 years (5 years/2 months with good time) active sentence to serve in the horribly dysfunctional Virginia Prison System. One of the few people that believes in second chances is Dr. Paul Hardy from Recovery 4 Recovery for Life. Because the Virginia DOC system is so corrupt and dysfunctional I didn’t have a home plan nor was my Interstate Compact Completed in time for me to return to Washington State. I honestly had no where to go once I was released! All I had to my name was $1200 on my books from a measly .45 cents/hour job in prison and what ever my family was able scrape up and send to me. Dr. Paul took a chance on having someone convicted of a violent crime (domestic battery) and offered me a second chance by allowing me to live at the recovery house. This opportunity allowed me the time to get back on my feet while I waited (2 months) for my Interstate Compact to be approved for Washington State. If it wasn’t for Recovery 4 Life, Dr. Paul, and the awesome owners (Stacie Gallinal) of Marco’s Pizza at 1544 Laskin Rd #212, Virginia Beach, VA 23451. I honestly could have been homeless and jobless. You see if you just listen to Gods plan. He will provide you all the help you need if you’re willing to accept it! I hope one day to share my testimony with the world. God Bless Chris Acheson

It's been almost 6 months of being a patient at this office, and after a rather rough week where I had to cancel appointments and not show up, the office called me personally, to make sure *I* was okay. They were concerned with my well-being and overall mentality. Not many, if any, places will call and just check on you like that. To most offices, you're another zero in the pay check. I strongly encourage people, even if you get wait-listed to seek services here. They offer telehealth, and in person. There is no judgement, or disrespect. They work with you for payment options and when you can/cannot pay. As stated previously 👇 below, I will continue to be a patient for as long as they're in business!! Please note its been 2½ months since I completed this review and I still feel 100000% the way I did when I wrote it! I'm quite the brand new patient with this office and while I can't give a lengthy history on the incredible staff--I can give what I've experienced in just 2½ short months. For starters, Morgan Scott--one of the most receptive medical professionals I've ever worked with. I'm 35 and have been in and out of psychotherapy offices since I was 14. Between insurance changes, offices closing, etc, I've seen and endured(yes, endured)some horrific treatment from past places. I reached a personal breaking point recently and while I am still on the wait list for therapy, I still reached out to the office in hopes there was something, anything to be done in hopes of help in a crisis that didn't require hospitalization. Not only did she reach out to me on her day off, she found me additional help and did what she could to listen and hear me out. I left the VM and within the hour I was on the phone with her being heard, ”seen", and given options and chances to get additional help. An emergency therapist that wasn't with their office was provided to me as well. In a nutshell, I've never felt the rallying of an entire office in the just this short of time as a patient. And I saw the same therapist from 14-20. This office CARES. The staff are knowledgeable, helpful and pool their resources when they have a patient in need. I have NEVER, in the 20 years of my life of psychotherapy felt more seen and cared about by an entire office the way I did yesterday. I felt like more than a copay and another zero added to that long line on their paycheck. I felt like a REAL PERSON, who's existence and feelings mattered and were of importance. I truly hope and plan to be a patient here for as long as these amazing humans are in business. The core of these individuals is nothing short of angelic in how they handle matters of crisis or even your every day appointments. And as one knows while in this world of psychotherapy, your support system and help from medical professionals is just as important as the support system outside of the office walls. Thank you all for the incredible rallying and assistance I was given, the grace, and most importantly the support. I am in awe of this entire office and how they treat patients. Even brand new baby ones like me. Thank you again to everyone who was part of it and for showing up to work everyday to truly help those like myself that face these immense struggles. Having a team like y'all in my corner gives me a sense of trust that I will continue to be given the best care they can provide me and others as a patient. 1000000/10 stars. Highly HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I have been coming to this practice for 6 years, seeing both Dr. Bohan (retired now) and Regina Carroll (currently). Everyone in the practice, from the front office staff, to the clinicians and the management staff are friendly, compassionate, knowledgeable and profession and it feels very much like a calm home environment. They clearly care about their clients. Regina is and has been an incredible support to me, helping me through some very difficult times. Her sole focus is to listen and help you in whatever way she can including EMDR trauma therapy. She is experienced, compassionate and genuinely cares, just lovely and wonderful!! I would not be where I am today without her. I also want to mention Alyson (practice manager), her hard work, dedication, ethics and heart for this practice are evident. I have always been more than pleased with the care and support that I have received. We are fortunate to have such a great practice in our area, I am so grateful for them. I have recommended them to family and friends and will continue to do so.

I’ve been here twice and both times I’ve been welcomed with an open mind and enthusiasm to help keep my sobriety journey pushing. From Sheba the BAH to her counter part Ms. Paula starting our mornings off with laughter and enthusiasm to encourage us to keep going and keep pushing. To Ms. D and Ms. Ebony on second shift to help center and reflect on ourselves. When you have an enthusiastic discharge coordinator like Keisha who encourages you each day to push past my mental barriers. To therapists like Jessica and Mrs. White who help break things down there’s no room for failures. I am my biggest critic. So I just needed some sustenance from the cooks to keep me going and that’s the best part. They worked day in and day out to keep us all fed. All in all it was a great time, I couldn’t have asked for a greater support system from Jay who would always pause and take the time to talk and listen to any of our grievances to the nurses like charnel and heather who are always down to give advice and support. It was just a very supportive and helpful supportive environment. I can’t reiterate it enough and I recommend this to anyone looking for a recovery program for substance abuse. It’s been a life saver for me

I have been coming to Brightview for about 4 yrs or so. Pretty much since the research Dr location opened. Have been there thru all the B's in the beginning, have outlasted all the original workers there. Even though the staff seems to constantly change it is changing for the better. Only issue I have is the counselors, they come and go.. I'm not going to open up and spill my everything to only have to repeat it again a month or two later. I wish Dr. Orr would come back!! He was my favorite. Anyways I would and have definitely recommended Brightview to people!!

The only reason and I mean the only reason I am giving this five stars is because of my counselor Miss Ell when I I'm telling you this woman has helped me so tremendously she saved my life and my family she helped me stay clean when the actual clinic was not doing what they were supposed to be doing for instance this woman found my papers that were sitting behind the reception desk under stack of paper for almost a week a little back side story I had surgery August 25th when in August 26th and tested for a benzo well they took my take-homes away that I had just gotten so it took me all over a few days to get the hospital to fax over my paperwork well she had found it took it to the doctor the doctor said the medication wasn't on there that I was lying. Well missile took it right back to her and showed her it's right here so again she's the one and only reason I have my take homes she's been working on getting me my take homes once again while moving up in my take-homes and there's one doctor there that's never there so it's next to impossible to get take homes but she made it happen and is still trying to make it happen. All I want to say is you have amazing people that work there that keep getting ran away all the time by the employees there that are just there for a paycheck I'm just thankful that she got me on the path that I need to be on mentally and physically before anything happens to her honestly because from here on out I will continue to do good and I will always think of her

Only issue I have is when medical records, etc are requested I don’t think it should take multiple req & still take a month or longer for person/ persons requesting to receive. Barry Robinson Center, located in Hampton, Virginia is a private alcohol and drug rehab that offers treatment for a variety of substance abuse addictions including co-occurring mental health disorders. They offer residential care providing long term support for addiction recovery, as well as flexible outpatient addiction therapy allowing patients t
I was at the Barry Robinson Center for about six months. I arrived there in about December and left in June or July. Here’s a brief summary of how my experience looked like. First when you arrive, you have signatures to sign and paperwork to go over. You consent to stay at BRC for however long it takes for you and whoever you’re having altercations with, to be solved. Then, you go into your a nursing area and get your medications checked in. Right after, you’re off to your age-selected dorm to get your clothes and bedroom set. It’s about a 3-4 hour process, but you’ll get through it. Here’s more in depth experiences. At times, there may be things called codes. These are where kids in your dorm are throwing objects, arguing with dorm personnel, or just refusing to go anywhere. This could happen occasionally, or all the time. It could also last either 30 minutes, or up to an hour. Another situation that has happened is just pure arguing. For example, someone is watching a television show, a kid walks in wanting to change it, then they start arguing over it for no reason. This will most likely happen here, but the therapists will teach you ways on how to cope with it. My closing statements are that I want to thank the Barry Robinson Center Residential Coaches, Chefs, Nursing Staff, Therapists, my old therapist, Janitors, and whoever else I didn’t mention. If I had a child that was going through a problem I couldn’t solve, I would send them here and get them proper help they need. Thank you for reading this. ✌️ - Jackson

I was there Dec 2024 through June 2025 (hi people in my dorm who also wrote reviews). Of course can be improvements, but what struck me was the willingness to learn how they can improve. I was part of a little experiment they did of adding some of the residents to the leadership meetings. While I was there, I had an AMAZING therapist (love you Mrs. Christina) who really pushed me and didn't fall for my bull crap. The dorm staff was...... something. I loved them, they were really fun. Ms. Tessa was always fun and firm, directing us to where we needed to be. Ms. Mo was strict and an absolute necessity to me personally. She was a staff I really trusted and pushed me to try hard and know that relapses aren't failure or doom. Ms. Courtney told me everyday to smile because I didn't smile very often at first and she thought I had a nice smile. So thank you. Ms. Jahna always let me a listening ear, which I needed quite a few times. Ms. Gill was a great advocate, also ready to listen to me. Mr. Cal fed my love for poetry and treated me like an equal, not some troubled kid. There's too many dorm staff to mention, i love them all. They treated us like humans, all of them. My teachers, Mr. Jeff, Mrs. Kristen, Ms. Stephanie, and Ms. Katie were all amazing! (Especially Ms. Katie who helped me with algebra) Ms(or should I say Mrs.) MacKenzie was a great RT, not taking crap from anyone. Mr. Cal boosted my confidence through basketball, even though he was boy dorm staff. Mr. Willie was an absolute joy to be around, trying to take me running and reminded me and everyone that we were enough. Lastly, thank you to the other residents I knew. Some of yall annoyed me to the point of wanting to scream and throw punches, but I learned not just to suck it up, but to communicate and get through it healthily. To those I befriended, you made BRC less lonely and so much more fun. To this day, I still quote some of the crazy things said. "What am I supposed to do, breastfeed him?" I recommend BRC to anyone who needs help. You have to accept the help for it to be given to you. I know you got this, as I was there too. You're problems aren't going to go away completely, but you can watch over yourself and will take control of your life again. I was lost in self harm, and now, four months later, just passed a year since I got hospitalized before BRC, I can manage the few thoughts that come. I'm improving communication with my family. You got this!
