I’ve been going here for 6months and before that I was at the VA. There’s a few differences between them both but most of all I can tell the Care. I have had 2 Counselors which is understandable considering the work load they have. Since the begining I have been happy and impressed how easy they made my transferring. I started just where I left off at the VA.The only thing I don’t agree with or understand is when getting an increase u have to pick up for 3days before getting ur tak homes. I can understand this policy when u a starting out. But it doesn’t make much sense after that. I love my counselor here at Pinnacle treatment center FCCR Radford. I feely counselor Lauren is amazing she’s does everything she can possibly do for. Shes supplies me with wonderful advice, wonderful resources and everything else a counselor should do. This is the only MAT program clinicnive ever been to but they have been amazing. If you are serious about your recovery they most definitely are going to help you. I’ve had a couple friends go to other clinics and from what was said FCCR is more strict and that’s so important. Especially if you are serious about your recovery and do really want to better yourself and your life. The office staff is amazing there. The nurses are wonderful. I’ve had 3 different counselors due to 2 of them moving on to better their lives, but every counselor I have had has been wonderful. Very helpful. Easy to talk to. I’ve been going here for 6 now. When BHG took over the old clinic, River City, there were growing pains as any company has going through a takeover. Then the pandemic happens during the takeover. Staff was leaving left & right because patients blamed them for literally EVERTHING. The patients refused to see the bigger picture and wanted to blame staff for following the pandemic rules. BHG was the only clinic in RVA excepting new patients during the pandemic because they genuinely want to SAVE LIVES! Somehow so many patients complained about so many new patients holding up lines. Anyway, with all of that being said, I’ve seen staff come & go BUT THE STAFF THEY HAVE NOW IS SO CARING & want nothing but THE best for us!!! Dr. Swainey is so down to earth once you see how much he relates to us, you’ll have so much respect for his compassion to help us that are stuck in this awful cycle. I could write a book on how much I’ve grown to adore the staff & they ALL deserve the absolute best in life. There is a large staff on duty around the clock called BHA’s that are full of a wealth knowledge to help you through your journey. They are led by a gentleman named J that is absolutely called to do what he does. His groups and demeanor will highly impact your recovery in a major way.

I have been coming to Brightview for about 4 yrs or so. Pretty much since the research Dr location opened. Have been there thru all the B’s in the beginning, have outlasted all the original workers there. Even though the staff seems to constantly change it is changing for the better. Only issue I have is the counselors, they come and go.. I’m not going to open up and spill my everything to only have to repeat it again a month or two later. I wish Dr. Orr would come back!! He was my favorite. Anyways I would and have definitely recommended Brightview to people!!

I moved into the Avalon house about 8 months ago. It has really become a home to me. There is a lot of women in one home but we all manage to get along rather well. The Avalon house has been a safe , supportive, clean environment. We operate similar to the Oxford model in that we hold one another accountable. Anastasia is a hands on housing manager but she gives you the room you need to be an adult and make the decisions for your recovery that you feel are right. If you follow the rules, and prove to her that you’re trustworthy then she affords you that trust and she is understanding. I truly believe that Avalon is one of the main reasons that I’ve been successful in my recovery thus far.
It’s imperative in early recovery to surround one’s self with like minded people and Avalon is absolutely a home that you will find the resources you need to grow and thrive into the person you want to be. I have been going to Savida since 12/24 and it has been such a nice journey for my recovery. The office is always clean and stocked up with snacks. Donna-Fe is so sweet and very helpful. Appointments are always very well scheduled with little to no wait time to see the providers. Art is a great counselor. He listens so well to you, I wish the sessions were longer, that’s how good of a counselor he is. Kyle Jones has been my Physician and he is very sweet, a good listener and always asks how one is doing besides just prescribing medications. I have also seen Stephanie Rutherford who has been injecting my Vivitrol shots. She is also very sweet and knows her stuff. I’ve been to the ER since I moved to Richmond two years ago and the staff at this hospital is absolutely hands down the most caring hospital staff I’ve ever encountered from the receptionist to the nurses, doctors xray techs etc… I struggled with addiction for many years currently I just got my 2 year anniversary for being clean. I have dealt with numerous hospitals and staff which always was judging and short and never really got the treatment that I was there for which I can understand them not understanding addiction and substance use disorder but the staff here are understanding and they really care the nurse practitioner sat down n talked to me about addiction and my goals in life actually proud he was in me and my wife and it really meant a lot to have genuine conversation wanting to know my story. You don’t know what this simple act of kindness does for someone like myself. Thank you all for treating me with true kindness and respect. I’ll pay it forward to the next person that might need the same act of kindness you gave me

The approach is ideal when you have a stable living environment and a lower risk of relapse, or are transitioning from more intensive care settings. Outpatient programs vary in intensity, ranging from traditional outpatient therapy (1–2 sessions per week) to partial hospitalization programs (PHPs), which involve several hours of treatment each day.
Customized programs usually include evidence-based therapies such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and contingency management. Clients may also participate in educational workshops, peer support groups like 12 Step meetings, and medication-assisted treatment (MAT), when needed. The flexibility of outpatient treatment allows you to meet personal, educational, or professional responsibilities while actively engaging in recovery.
This model fosters independence and encourages you to apply learned coping skills in real-life settings.
