I had the honor of attending Wood Violet to support me in my recovery earlier this year and I can not thank them enough or say enough good things about the care I received there. Groups, one on one therapy, yoga, art therapy, outings, the clientele in attendance- they were all wonderful. Additionally, It’s quite unique to be able to say every staff member you had interactions with treated you with respect and kindness- from management all the way to housekeeping, kitchen staff and grounds maintenance- every staff member was wonderful. Special shout out to Sheila, Nicole, Sarah, Shaunda, Ginny and Abby for all of their knowledge and wisdom! If you had seen the person I was when I walked through those doors and then see the person I am now, I can honestly and with full transparency say you would never believe I am the same person. If you are struggling, please know there is hope for a better future and Wood Violet can greatly help that become a reality for you! I wish you peace, love and grace on your journey to sobriety.

Although I have nothing to compare this program to, I found my care to be top notch. Okay, the beds are a bit hard but the doctors, social workers and the nurses (almost forgot to mention the OT folks) were incredibly kind and effective. In my opinion, the inpatient program is as successful as the work you put into it. There is no magic cure; just need to pull yourself up by the britches and dive in.

March 25 I will have been clean for 2 years. I have been to many clinics and never have come this far! If I have a problem I get dealt with usually that day and with addiction being fast and efficient can be life or death. I think Dr. Harkin has tried hard to make his clinic a better the typical methadone clinics and I think he’s done amazing job! Not one of the other clinics in Madison can you walk into and say I’m struggling can I please talk to the doctor, not one of them will you be able to do that but at ASAP you can and that’s enough for me that right there is what it should be! When we walk in there in the morning sometimes all we need is someone to say hi , how are u doing with a smile on their face and that’s enough to change that day!! I’m so grateful for my second chance at life….well let’s keep it real more like 100th chance at life!! Lol but I think I got it this time and that’s thanks to dr. Harkin and he’s amazing staff!!

Madison, Wisconsin | Journey Mental Health Center is a private, non-profit behavioral health agency that started in 1948. Having an additional person with me, we were able to accurately judge and come to agreement for the safety of the person- that he did not need hospitalization, but rather needed additional support and time to be listened to. My thought is this: Sometimes the greater structure of the system is the issue, and not the resources in the community that have to follow those structures in order to help. My experience with Journey Mental Health has been truly life-changing. The care I received was compassionate, encouraging, and inspiring. Over the years, I’ve made lifelong friends through the women’s groups I attended and experienced significant personal growth. It was always comforting to have a safe space to check in every week, especially in early recovery.
With over eight years of recovery now, I can confidently say that the positive interactions and support I’ve received far outweigh any challenges. The staff and programs at Journey have had an immeasurable impact on my life, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without their treatment and care. I’m deeply grateful for all they’ve done for me and so many others in our community.

I am not sure why there are so many less than stellar reviews here. I had a traffic citation that required me to get a drivers safety plan and clinical assessment here, and they took incredible care of me. The young woman that I was assigned to took so much time to really understand me and take care of everything the way it needed to be done. She was beyond amazing and I suggest that if you have to come through here that you request her by name. Her name is Ashley R. Newell, and she is just wonderful in every way. I wish she could know how much I appreciate her. Also, Sherri L. Schroeder helped get me squared away and point me to where I needed to go when I was completely lost in the sauce. I wish there was some way that this review could reach them. Long story short though, if you need ANYTHING, reach out two these two women, because they are absolute professionals and experts in the subject matter that they practice.

Wisconsin is ranked 19th nationwide in terms of addiction treatment affordability, with an average cost of addiction treatment of $56,625.
The costs of drug and alcohol rehab in Wisconsin vary widely and depend on several factors, including:
The costs of addiction treatment listed for cities and states are averages based on the cost of the treatment types listed above. These averages are high due to the cost of medical detoxification and residential inpatient rehab programs.
These numbers also reflect the raw cost of drug rehab, before any insurance coverage. The typical individual seeking addiction treatment can expect to pay much less for outpatient or intensive outpatient services than the averages listed below.
There are many ways to pay for drug rehab in Wisconsin. Most treatment centers accept cash or self-payment, as well as private health insurance. However, there are many treatment centers in Wisconsin that accept Medicaid and Medicare, or offer sliding scale payments or other low-cost payment options. Here’s the complete breakdown of how to pay for addiction treatment in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin is ranked 30th nationwide in drug rehab admissions, with 342 rehab admissions per 100,000 population in 2023, which is lower than than the U.S. national average of 621 admissions per 100,000.
