The last one gave me so much anxiety I avoided her. Not good for a mental health clinic. I would have been happier checking in online than deal with her. Sadly though I had been put on a waiting list a couple months ago for a therapist. Although I have been patient over two years. And then found out there was actually in person appointment available yet no one contacted me. I hope to see improvements continue. I'm grateful for what ever helps I get, but another thing since Axis took over is the emphasis on payment. Josh Bailey 2 weeks ago I’ve read some other comments on here and I sincerely don’t at all share in the same experience with staff. All the staff I have encountered old and new staff, have always been kind, helpful, and encouraging. I’ve had a sick kiddo since 2019 and there hasn’t been a time that I’ve come to dose that they don’t ask how my child is with genuine concern for his well being and the well being of my family. I had Julie as a counselor for years and the clinic helped me get tell-counseling just to ensure I could meet all my expectations and still be there for my son and be able to work full time. I’ve been clean since the day I started and so I’ve never had an issue and they’ve never given me issue, even when I repeatedly have missed quarterly assessments because I’m stuck at work, they just laugh a bit, give me a hard time every so often and reschedule me, nothing but love and holding me accountable in a kind and respectful manner. Some people say MAT is just trading one addiction for another. I will always disagree, it’s trading a costly addiction (not just financially) for the freedom to get your life back together, to be of sound and sober thought, and go back to be a contributor to society rather than a burden and staying in a victim mentality. I believe in you, if you’re reading this. Treatment saved my life, so if you’re reading these comments trying to find out if it’s right for you, here’s what I will say. With MAT, you know it’s safe and where it’s coming from. You’ll be sober and not running from an inevitable withdrawal that you know is coming and leads you to do unimaginable things to avoid it even if it hurts people you love. Try it, if you try it and it’s still not right for you, then at least you made the attempt, but don’t let a couple bad comments about this clinic stop you from getting the help you need. The stigma around addiction needs to stop. No one is immune to it, NO ONE! I’ll repeat again, my experience with all of the staff from the UA man who is the sweetest most helpful guy, to the nurses had been nothing but positive and supportive. The only time I’ve seen an issue is with those not truly caring about getting sober and STAYING SOBER. You can’t come in and expect to just get a quick fix in between highs. That’s not what this is for and they will not enable you, that’s because I truly believe they genuinely want to see people get better. That’s my two cents, take it or leave it. I owe my life to New Seasons and I am thankful I took that first step, as hard as it was, I found a group of people within the clinic so kind and we all support eachother, listen to eachother and encourage one another, those of us who are truly trying. I hit 7 years sober on July 18th, 2025. And I am damn proud of that. I lost my brother to fentanyl in 2022, so again, even if you believe it’s trading one thing for another, the trade off is still knowing where it came from. I personally don't have any support system or family to help me with anything but Tara at New Season's has been amazing. You can tell she really really cares about her clients and definitely goes above and beyond to try to help in anyway she can. I was angry, depressed, and carrying years of trauma and abuse. I had been on probation since I was 11, in and out of juvenile detention, cutting off ankle monitors, trafficking narcotics — pretty much everything you could think of. At 15, I got in serious trouble and was sent out of state to Southern Peaks. I can’t speak on how Southern Peaks runs today, and I’m not giving five stars because of the treatment plans or the structure of the program. I’m giving five stars because of the floor staff. I don’t know who is still there now, but the staff I had completely changed my life — Rob, AJ, Trina, Brandon, Adelma, Jeremy and a few others I can’t name off the top of my head. And of course, the youth on my unit (who I won’t name for privacy). Was the program hard? Absolutely. Did I struggle some days? Yes. Did I AWOL? Yes. Did I see some crazy youth? Yes. IDK if i’m just thick skinned but a lot of it motivated me to turn my life around, motivated me by showing me the path i was headed and giving me the shove elsewhere. But because of my floor staff, who sat and went through it with me, I healed in ways I never thought were possible. They supported me, built real connections with me, and many of them shared pieces of their own stories to help me work through mine. Everyone will have their own experiences, and I can’t vouch for the current staff. But because of the SPRTC floor staff I had, I now have a life worth living — a career, a car, my own apartment, and I’m continuing my college education. Take what you want from this Kiomara Lopez 3 months ago Our 17 year old daughter just came home from spending 4 months at Southern Peaks in Canon City for repeated suicidal ideation/attempts. I was really nervous about sending her there after reading Google reviews, but it’s the only place in the state that Medicaid covers, so we didn’t have a choice. We were really happy with the facility and staff. They’ve been going through a lot of good changes in 2025, and the staff seemed to genuinely care about the kids. Her time there gave our family the break we desperately needed from the stress of trying to keep her safe all the time, and she did learn and grow and stabilize (hopefully). They have a detailed pillar system and therapy curriculum the kids work through as they progress, and they get weekly individual therapy and weekly family therapy via zoom. The bad part is that they spend 24/7 surrounded by the most mentally ill kids in the state, and the kids definitely have a very negative effect on one another. There’s no getting around that. I was a former client from 2016-2018, admitted 3x & honestly as an adult now I can admit I kept coming back partially because I liked yall and because I just blatantly wasn't ready to change. Some staff definitely filled a family like void that I craved for a long time. Idk how things are NOW but when I was there, Y'all tried your best & I could tell. I appreciate every last one of you for molding me into the Mom & Adult I am now! I wasn't the easiest to deal with, actually I was a shithead lol & unfortunately one of the worst kids y'all have dealt with but y'alls patience & care for me never withered. I was here from the old handbook to the new & although some things could have been dealt with better, you guys are dealing with unwell and troubled kids from all backgrounds (Behavioral, Se*ual, Abuse in all ways) and some of you have gone above and beyond for us. I agree with the comment; “The clinicians are either great or terrible…” ABSOLUTELY. The front desk is cold 98% of the time, has a way of making you feel like an absolute waste of space, time, and effort……Now if this was an Arby’s, or maybe even an eye dr, honestly I’d probably move about my day. But this is MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES. The thought of having people with god awful bedside manner when you’re in such a time of need & vulnerability is absolutely infuriating. Some of us are crippled by social interaction, especially phone calls/confrontation, the least you could expect is someone with more than a monotone voice and dead look in their eyes. Maybe it’s because the fronts & and clinicians are properly medicated/regulated so they come across with no form of emotion….Lapsing on meds, no call backs for days/weeks. I won’t list my dr quite yet in hopes there is progress made. These are quite literally peoples lives you are playing with, if you only have a textbook perception of these disorders, maybe it’s time to look at a different industry. In years past I had a doctor, there, who put me on multiple medications, he changed my life. I was a complete mess. Overweight, depressed, feeling worthless. Recovery Campus is a huge help when you're just taking off in your recovery and have basically nothing left to start with. Everyone there treats you with respect and dignity instead of seeing you as a junkie or an alcoholic. They have counselors trained in this cool thing called EMDR that is wonderful if you have trauma in your past that you still find hard to cope with. Trinda, Sandy and Heidi were fantastic supports for me but there are others that are just as skilled and experienced that can help you too if out patient treatment is what you're looking for.
