Our 17 year old daughter just came home from spending 4 months at Southern Peaks in Canon City for repeated suicidal ideation/attempts. I was really nervous about sending her there after reading Google reviews, but it’s the only place in the state that Medicaid covers, so we didn’t have a choice. We were really happy with the facility and staff. They’ve been going through a lot of good changes in 2025, and the staff seemed to genuinely care about the kids. Her time there gave our family the break we desperately needed from the stress of trying to keep her safe all the time, and she did learn and grow and stabilize (hopefully). They have a detailed pillar system and therapy curriculum the kids work through as they progress, and they get weekly individual therapy and weekly family therapy via zoom. The bad part is that they spend 24/7 surrounded by the most mentally ill kids in the state, and the kids definitely have a very negative effect on one another. There’s no getting around that. But overall I still think it was the right call for our family.

Hi Y'all! I was a former client from 2016-2018, admitted 3x & honestly as an adult now I can admit I kept coming back partially because I liked yall and because I just blatantly wasn't ready to change. Some staff definitely filled a family like void that I craved for a long time. Idk how things are NOW but when I was there, Y'all tried your best & I could tell. I appreciate every last one of you for molding me into the Mom & Adult I am now! I wasn't the easiest to deal with, actually I was a shithead lol & unfortunately one of the worst kids y'all have dealt with but y'alls patience & care for me never withered. I was here from the old handbook to the new & although some things could have been dealt with better, you guys are dealing with unwell and troubled kids from all backgrounds (Behavioral, Se*ual, Abuse in all ways) and some of you have gone above and beyond for us. I hope y'all can help other kids as you did me!

Amazing staff, incredibly compassionate! Recovery Campus is a huge help when you're just taking off in your recovery and have basically nothing left to start with. Everyone there treats you with respect and dignity instead of seeing you as a junkie or an alcoholic. They have counselors trained in this cool thing called EMDR that is wonderful if you have trauma in your past that you still find hard to cope with. Trinda, Sandy and Heidi were fantastic supports for me but there are others that are just as skilled and experienced that can help you too if out patient treatment is what you're looking for. I have learned so much about myself and have gained the skills I need to be successful in my recovery. Thanks to RMBH!

When I first came to Peaks, I was broken, depressed, hopeless, and completely lost. I truly didn’t believe things could get better. But my experience at Peaks changed my life in ways I never could’ve imagined. From the moment I arrived, I was surrounded by a community of supportive, caring people who genuinely wanted to see me grow. I built friendships and connections that will last a lifetime, with people who stood by me through every high and low of my recovery journey. The groups and therapists were absolutely incredible, I learned more here than I ever have in any other program. The structure at Peaks helped me build consistency, confidence, and real progress. The staff went above and beyond every single day, they truly cared about us as people, not just clients. Even the food was amazing (shoutout to the chefs, you made every meal feel special!). The activities were another huge part of my healing, basketball, pickleball, volleyball courts right on property, yoga, art supplies, gym equipment, hikes twice a week, church, Recovery Dharma, and so much more. There was always something positive and grounding to be a part of. I am endlessly grateful for my time at Peaks Recovery. This program gave me my life back and gave me the tools, support, and hope I needed to keep moving forward. Thank you to everyone who made my experience so meaningful and life-changing. ❤️

The building got a great remodel and is super comfortable. The outdoor space is gorgeous. The staff is incredible. From the BHTs to the doctors. With Britney the nurse being the true all star. Palmer Lake Recovery Center truly changed my life. From the second I arrived, I felt peace that I hadn’t felt in a long time. Nestled up in the mountains, surrounded by pine trees and fresh mountain air, this place feels more like healing for the soul than just a rehab center. The smell of the mountain air alone is enough to calm your nervous system. It’s quiet, beautiful, and peaceful in a way that’s hard to even explain unless you’ve experienced it yourself. The staff here are beyond amazing. Every single person from the therapists, techs, nurses, BHTs, kitchen staff, maintenance, and everybody in between treated me with kindness, patience, and genuine care. You can tell these people truly want to see others heal and succeed. I never felt judged here. I felt human again. And the FOOD? Hands down five-star. No exaggeration. The cooks absolutely kill it every single day. The meals were honestly some of the best food I’ve had in a long time, and they put real love into it. That matters more than people realize when you’re trying to heal. The campus itself is beautiful. There’s a tennis court, basketball court, volleyball court, walking track, hammocks to relax in under the trees, and a huge gym packed with equipment treadmills, weights, workout machines, bikes, benches, and more. There’s always something healthy and positive to do for your mind and body. What makes Palmer Lake special is the atmosphere. There’s peace here. Real peace. The kind where your mind finally quiets down enough to hear yourself think again. The kind where healing feels possible. I’m beyond grateful for every person I met here and everything this place gave me. Palmer Lake Recovery Center will always hold a special place in my heart. 🏔️❤️‍🩹

My therapy session is with Vernon to help with my PTSD. I would recommend Vernon to anyone. He treats you as a person, not a number or a disabled patient. Vernon listens and tries different ways to help. I look forward to my sessions with Vernon. Lately a lot of negative things have happened but my session today made me feel better about myself and the new nightmares. Vernon is an asset to help with my condition. It seems like I am going to have this condition the rest of my life but he reinforces my battle to fight this. What I do not like, I am a veteran, on Medicare and Tricare for life but I will, out of left field, get a text message that I owe money which I have to pay to proceed. Don’t surprise me. I asked when I started if it was covered by insurance. I was told yes. Surprise! And if you call, they can get really rude.

Deciding to get treatment at MSR was literally the best decision I have ever made. I can not say enough positive things about my experience there (41 days). From John Aicher the director of operations, to Kim who did my intake, to all the BHP's/facilitators and staff (Austin, Heather, Katrina, Val, Larry, Roxanne, Raya, Raelee, Esther, Nina, Elizabeth, Coach Al, Cro) the nurses (Ricky, Dillon, Ayana, Shay, Lala) the kitchen staff (Phil, Don, Steve) to my case manager (Roxie) my therapist (Jason), my hiking homies (Eddie & Rob) and Theresa (mamacita!) for all of their help and positivity during my time there. I truly made life long friends during my time there, and found a brand new outlook on life. I would HIGHLY recommend this facility if you are looking for help. You will not be disappointed I promise. I attended Mountain Springs Recovery from April to July and it was truly a life changing experience. I first want to say that one of the things I learned from MSR from the Counselors, is that everyone attempting or going through Substance Use Disorders is going through their own individual part of their journey. My point is that not everyone's circumstances are the same and you will get as much out of it as much as you put into it. Do you really WANT to get better? For me, I did. I had the mindset that I did not want my life to be defined by my addiction, so I went into MSR with an open mind and willing to be Open, Honest and Transparent. I didn't care what others thought, I needed to answer the question...why do I feel like I need alcohol to fill this empty space in me...and more importantly, what is the root of that empty space. The staff, counselors, and administrators provided every opportunity and the tools I needed to answer that question. Not everything applied to my specific issues, I had to listen carefully and be honest about myself that, 'wow, that hits home with me', or 'I definitely need to work on this or that'. In my opinion, the counselors cannot possibly know every reason why clients are there, they can only provide the tools, based on actual research, and hope that each client grabs on to what is pulling at them to get better. In my opinion, the counselors aren't there to 'fix you', you are there to try and figure out why you are there based on your individual life experiences and reasons for Substance Use. My advice is to be open, honest and transparent with yourself and approach your time there as your time to focus. During my time at MSR I was able to identify the root of that emptiness in me and that was huge. Just finding what I couldn't figure out myself over the course of my life was priceless to me. I now have the reason, the tools, motivation and confidence to be proud of my sobriety. I have been sober now 8 months, but continue to work on my maintenance of sobriety by voluntarily going into Intensive Outpatient Treatment immediately after MSR and I am still in it today. I give my highest recommendation to Mountain Springs Recovery and the tools they gave me to maintain sobriety.

First time at a VA clinic since I separated in September. It is a nice facility that is clean and well taken care of. All of the staff that I encountered from the pharmacy, lab and front desk were all really nice and informative considering I just separated. I will say, I was confused by the kiosk next to the pharmacy. I grabbed a ticket and waited then realized that it was for registration and not the pharmacy. Just kind of misleading being right next to check in. That and wasn’t aware they only dispense a few weeks of meds then mail your full requested prescription. Definitely a different process than MTF’s. Overall, good experience though.

I attended their inpatient addiction treatment program, Crestone Residential Treatment Services (CRTS) in 2019-2020. This was the best experience I've had at a treatment center. Their entire staff was nothing but supportive and helpful time and time again (Carol was my fave 😁), and their way of showing each of their patients that they were genuinely invested in each of us and our success seemed effortless, second nature. I stayed for 60 days and didn't have a single negative experience that entire time (except for when Shah's Kababs came around again on the meal schedule and the staff decided to order from a different place knowing I was counting down the days before I could order another Falafel Sandwich.... But I guess we can leave it in the past) I'm only leaving a comment now because I've been recommending CRTS Everytime I discuss treatment with a friend ever since and when i needed inpatient again last year I tried to reach out but never got a response and one friend was told they had closed. . So if this is correct can you guys please remove it from your list of provided services or add a note about how CRTS is no longer offered, or any type of clear confirmation? I've searched the internet for hours on at least 3 different occasions looking for something. I never get called back when leaving messages.

From our first visit to our last weeks, I felt supported as we went through this very difficult time as a family. I was updated regularly on my son’s progress and give all the information on how he was doing. I talked to multiple members of his care team weekly, always taking the time to answer my questions and address my concerns. I never felt rushed and never felt that my concern wasn’t valid. The support isn’t just for the child, also for the family. This is what my son needed to help him on his road to recovery. They are diligent on planning “next steps” with me and my son. It wasn’t just triage care, it was all around care and planning for after he was out of the program. Would highly recommend for family seeking treatment for their teens.

They even called to check up on me after my visit which is likely more than I deserve. I appreciated their time and energy spent on me every step of the way. Dr. Weiss and Mathew Piciulo are the two therapists at Heart to Heart Counseling that we encountered and I can firmly state are legit. Mathew seriously impacted my husband while Dr. Weiss restored my heart, my sense of worth, and gave me the education and language my heart desperately needed at the most emotionally dismantling time of my life. Through their knowledge, gentleness, generosity of wisdom, encouragement, and Holy Spirit leading, I honestly believe that God was able to use these two men to rescue my husband and empower me. Today, Aaron and my marriage is stronger than ever, we were able to pay off over nine million dollars in Jezebel debt, we are able to share our testimony to empower others, and my God-fearing husband is my best friend. I cannot recommend Mathew’s groups and Dr. Weiss’s resources enough.

I first went to Heart to Heart in 2001. When I first went there I looked good on the outside, but I was a mess on the inside. They helped me heal from the wounds from my past and showed me how to be a Real Man. After 24 years of being in recovery with almost 20 years of sobriety, I am so blessed to have worked with the folks at Heart to Heart. I would highly recommend their services.

The director Scott is very efficient and helpful. He is mindful of ensuring that you do what's necessary to maintain sobriety. Danny, also, is an amazing addition to the team and he is an incredible person. I did not care for the rest of the Stirt coordinators.

This is for the ATU unit specifically. I don’t even know where to start. So many good things to say! Please stay and read the whole thing. Especially if you’re considering going here. It was so good! I was just here, for a week and the experience was basically like a 5 star hotel! Besides the beds which they can’t change but that’s not their fault. Intake was so welcoming and I was very unsure about going inpatient based on past experiences, but after talking with them, I voluntarily went inpatient. Felt very confident. They have really comfortable chairs, not rock hard that are so uncomfortable to sit in. They have bathrooms outside of the rooms with doors that lock, so you have the most privacy you can get. They allow you to have your phone, which of course is a personal preference for some people as it may be best to get a total break from the outside world. And of course they have rules for using your phone such as no recording or videos or pictures for privacy. But other than that you are free to have your phone all the time. And they have all cords for every kind of phone there is behind the nurse’s desk to charge your phone whenever you want. They have a relaxation room that has a big picture of the beach with palm trees and the ocean, a picture of the Grand Canyon, a recliner, some comfortable chairs, and an exercise bike. Really great to get alone time without having to go in your room. The food is absolutely 5 out of 5! Catering from Springs Rescue Mission, and they take care of each patient. Offering second helpings. They offer round the clock care of course, including snacks whenever. Chips, cookies, milk, orange juice, etc. Unlike a lot of places, they allow patients free roam 24/7 on the unit. Other places there’s a “curfew” and “lights out”. They don’t push you to go to therapy. Of course they encourage you but they really empathize unlike others and understand what you’re going through. They offer that you can ask for one on one talking and processing with any of the staff on duty at any time. There are a few times of being aware of their time like when they are doing staff changes, shift changes, rounding on other patients, etc. But they are very gentle. They also offer yoga mats at request and books you can read freely. As well as a tv room where you can choose what to watch as long as it’s available and appropriate. And listen to music via tv as well. They have games that you can play either by yourself or with other patients. Also, they allow CPAP machines as long as the door is open at night so they can monitor closely to make sure you’re safe. I absolutely loved it here and highly highly recommend it to everyone. Great care! I do not know if the other units are like this. This is just my experience.

I've been in crisis twice this year. Both times, I could not ask for better help. Lauren saw the real me and what I truly needed. She didn't waste time working on getting me to the resources to put me on the road to recovery. Because, I didn't follow through with her same enthusiasm, I got to meet Adam. I'd like to thank God for him too. He also saw ME, knew exactly what I really needed to hear. These people are literally out here saving lives. Every person in the building I met showed me compassion, understanding and helped me plan a better future for myself. I wouldn't be here without their help. Thank you for being a true Light House.
