One of the best rehabs I have been too. I have been to. Therapist Maria is amazing. There is always more than 1 group to choose from and information is broken down in interactive and easy to understand way. Groups are led by very knowledgeable therapist. Staff and nurses amazing as well! Director does not hide behind a door. Beds are comfy, tvs in room , gym and pool. Food isn't bad. They meet you were you are but dont leave u there.

White Sands saved my life in February and continues to do so to this day. If you are looking for help and are finally willing to reach out, there is no better option than White Sands. The staff at White Sands, many of whom are serving others as a way to they themselves stay clean, are absolutely amazing. Their desire is to pick you up, dust you off, and watch you grow. From the moment you arrive at inpatient they do their best to get you in and comfortable. Each day gets easier and there is not one person who couldn't benefit from their MRT program. In outpatient the IOP program and individual counseling teaches and strengthens you by offering a different way to live. The counselors truly care and want to see you succeed. It isn't easy to ask for help and it isn't a sign of weakness. If you're willing to admit you need help, White Sands is the place to turn to.

At first I have to say, I would not have given them any stars BUT I went in high and by day 2 felt pretty bad already. I walked in on my own accord and on day 3 almost walked out. Thanks to a few of the employees there I did not. They talked me through the worst of the times I had in there and that alone is why I am sitting here typing this review. They literally saved my life. Anyone who is reading this I just want to say something that I hope the right people hear....there is nothing easy about getting clean or staying clean. But there is also nothing easy about staying high. It is possible to live again after addiction. But no one can be forced into it. They have to be ready. At their ropes end so to speak...emotionally, financially, physically what ever the case it has to be their choice. Someone who is not an addict cant tell an addict what they need to do and how they should just stop. That would be like telling someone not on drugs to stop breathing. I know anyone who has never been there and is reading this is thinking that I am a moron, and well maybe but I am a CLEAN moron. 75 days today. I am a great father again and a great husband, son, brother, uncle, friend and I AM ALIVE for the first time in many years. So please to the parents with an addict for a child, or a spouse with a husband or wife that has an addiction or a best friend....Please go easy on who ever it is that you are trying to help. Have compassion and love in your heart. Try to be understanding even if your angry at them and you are most certainly angry at them but your angry because you love them and you are worried about them. Try to remember that every time to want to offer them help. Because I will tell you the Gods honest truth, a true addict and this is coming from someone who was putting 500 dollars a day of Fentanyl in his arm (the most powerful opiate for human consumption) but a honest to God true addict doesn't want to be. They are in a very very lonely place. They feel like they are in this world all alone. Like being on some deserted island with no happiness at all not even from the drug. More guilt than you can even begin to imagine from all the lies, and the stealing money and losing everything or selling everything they have ever owned. Trust me when I say they know where they stand in the eyes of the world. So its up to you as their loved ones to give them them the confidence and strength and support that they need to make the right decision and its up to them to make it. I do apologize for the long review but if only one person gets something helpful out of what I wrote here today then I feel like Im helping. So the original post........how do I rate the detox unit in Bartow (AKA The Mary Lyons Center) well, 5 stars. Yes its state funded and the bottom of the barrel but you are not there on vacation, your there to go through 5 days of hell to get your life back. Honestly I would imagine that it would not matter where you are when you begin to get severely dope sick. There is no meds to help with the withdrawls other than clonidine and for an addict thats like eating skittles. But the worse it feels and the more it hurts the longer your going to remember what you went through and hopefully you wont want to put yourself through it again. And PS all free detox facilities are going to suck to some extreme. Thank you to everyone at The Mary Lyons detox unit for everything. I honestly owe my life to you. Oh everyone but Marlena. She caused me more problems than she even realizes. And if your reading this Marlena.....I'm still clean and doing better than I ever have so what you told my wife on the phone was just simple ignorance. Anyone whos thinking about getting clean...dont think about it just walk in and do it. Its so worth it. God Bless and I wish you all the best

Josh is one of the best most compassionate employees in this place. I hope they are giving him a decent yearly raise. My practitioner is really good too. I only have one complaint but I won’t remove a star because the actual office location is so good*, the call center is absolute GARBAGE!! Never have I ever dealt with such people. They want so much personal information just to transfer your call to the winter haven location. I don’t like repeating my personal information over the phone because digital fraud is a growing problem. Things would be TONS better if behavioral health could get their own direct line. It seems at this rate they will probably want your blood type just to transfer a call 😩😮‍💨. It will definitely test the Christ in you to deal with jumping through their hoops. Outside of that, overall great place!

After five years of therapy, I have successfully completed treatment and discharged — something I once wasn’t sure would ever be possible. The clinic is long overdue and I'm very grateful that the VA has invested in the new facility here in Lakeland because the old facility was a combination of several different buildings. This facility is well-organized and has a lot more services than the old Clinic so we don't have to go to the VA hospital in Tampa for certain things like an a CT scan, the eye doctors are here and more.

My son had his first appointment with the doctor this August 2025. Kristy Oneill was very attentive to his needs and prescribed medication that was available in the pharmacy the same day. This was a huge relief because my son was in high anxiety, his hands were trembling, and he had not slept the whole night before the visit. Thanks to her help, his condition stabilized. We will continue therapy and work on finding the right treatment that will help him adapt socially and eventually find a job, so he can feel meaningful and confident in himself. Thank you ❤️❤️‍🩹

I went to this program a few years ago and it was the best thing that ever happened to me, I learned structure which I needed bàdly. How to make and keep friends, basic life skills, money mangement and and how to live life on life's terms. Career skills, sober living, skills needed to do it yourself, how to take care of your health. It was an amazing experience and it wasn't all fun but it was all worth it in the end.

I came here becausd I was in so much pain. They gave me some diluted or whatever it's called that didn't work and some Tylenol which barely curved the pain a little. I'm not looking to high on opioids or somethin. They won't even give me a topical pain relief medicine. However my attending nurse Lucas did everything he could, and was very good.

I had surgery today in the women and children’s Pavilion on 3rd floor. When I tell you I had the BEST EXPERIENCE EVER, it’s the truth. Mercedes, Rachel, & Lindsey (and I know I am missing my other lady’s name - aka post anesthesia brain) were absolutely the epitome of quality and efficient care. When I arrived on the unit, they tag teamed me to access, prep, and to make me feel like a queen. They were friendly, informative, and professional. I felt I was surrounded by people who actually care. I would like to extend my appreciation and gratitude to everyone who had a hand in my care throughout this entire process. I saw all the bad reviews and was honestly terrified....... Especially since it was 2 hours away from my home. However, it wasn't so bad. I mean, there's going to be a couple of annoying apples....... Like Sylvania or whenever the Jamaican woman's name was... Chatty and bossy. But overall I felt like this place has sort of turned around, at least in my opinion. Darren the Patient Tech was very informative and communicative. Patricia was wonderful ... I think they tried to be gentle with me. I feel like as long as you work with them, you won't be put on an unnecessary hold. Just being honest. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the schedule is lacking........ I feel like a lot of the time I just spent sleeping instead of doing group therapy, etc.... ah well.

I just got out of here and it was probably the most humbling experience I’ve ever had. I suffer from bi-polar, depression, and anxiety. I always thought my life was over and it was the worst but the people there have it way worst. The staff and psychiatrist and social workers love their job and people I felt loved and cared for. This place also brought me back to god. I’d say the only negative is they cover the windows in most units (not mine though), and the mattress and chairs are uncomfortable. Other than those things I would highly recommend this hospital.

I absolutely love sophros!! I just moved to Flordia in June 2025. Fresh out of rehab from Pennsylvania. I struggled for 2 months before I got Insurance. Uneducated, craving and not myself. I Googled outpatient recovery centers and first popped up Sophros recovery. I called immediately and set up a appointment. I was accepted right away. I was shy at first and didn't participate in groups. But, I warmed up and I've learned so many great skills that I use daily. Last year 2024 I was hurt by a close family member and was awaiting trial. My therapist and the team helped me be able to open up and tell my story. While gone for a week I had so much support from the team and I did it! My therapist Rajon tells me "I can do hard things" and I did and continue to do so. Andrew helped me realize that sitting in the hurt is the best way to get through it. He also helped me get a wonderful job and establish a community. This facility is amazing! The groups, therapist, and all the staff are wonderful each with their own skills and techniques. It works if you work it. So do the hard things and you will come out successful. Thank you sophros for all the skills, support and understanding. I will forever be grateful for everything you taught me.

I went from new seasons to this clinic, I was at 40 mg from new seasons- I was over sedated at 40 mg so they brought me down to 35 than to 30 and I was still over sedated at 30. So new seasons brought me down to 20mg. I was good at 20mg- I wanted to taper down though. I tapered down at 1mg a day. I was on methadone for a month and a week or two. I was going to dose for the last time- this memorial weekend that past we're my last 3 doses for 3mg,2mg and 1mg. I didn't know that I could get prescribed comfort meds by Jim or I would of done it before the weekend because it was a long weekend. I went into the clinic and cried to Christina than told her I was struggling. She got me prescribed comfort meds that day and so did jim. I got most of the comfort meds filled except one because the pharmacy wanted to speak with Jim first. I went into the office the next day to tell jim and he handled it right away. I went into dosing voluntarily but I was admitted to do IOP. IOP, counseling and the dosing has helped me so much- the dosing is more affordable at aspire as well. The comfort meds have really helped me- if you work the program it'll work. I got good sleep through the night and definitely feel better.

If you can endure the lengthy intake process, everything else is quick and efficient. All the staff, from the front desk to providers were on point, and informative. Yes there are some delays from time to time just from over crowding or should I say a lot of clients all at once. Worth a shot if your trying to change your life and get clean.
