Drove down from Jacksonville for an ENT Consult. The receptionist was pleasant and on the ball, he was quick and professional at all time, even with the difficult vets. Beyond grateful for my two visits here at FRC. I am now coming up just shy of two years sober. I did my two stints at the old facility. The staff is extremely welcoming, the programming is great, and both times met great friends I am still in contact with today. Making the call to get a ride back to FRC after a month long binge, withdrawing in a fetal position on my floor, was the best choice I have made. From spiraling out of control and loosing it all, to building up a new prestigious career, brand new life, and most importantly, my peace of mind. I needed a break. A vacation from the lifestyle I was living. A trip back to reality. I couldn’t bear to live one more hour. FRC gave me it all. Get the hardest part over with. Make the call, you wont regret it.

I can't recommend FRC enough. This organization has truly been a life-changer and life-saver for me. My journey with FRC began in 2007 when I was a patient receiving care. I was at the lowest point in my life after years of substance use and a near fatal suicide attempt. Under the care of Dr. Teitelbaum, The support I found there was instrumental in introducing me to recovery, and I am incredibly grateful for the nearly 18 years of sobriety I have today because of that start. To come full circle and later spend over 12 years working on the incredible FRC Team has given me a unique perspective. I will forever be grateful for having the opportunity to witness firsthand the profound, life-changing work that happens there every single day. My appreciation for FRC, its mission, and its dedicated staff is immense. Unfortunately, I am starting a new job in another city to be closer to my family, but I will always carry FRC with me. "It works, if you work it, so work it, you're worth it!" I came to the Florida Recovery Center a broken man, suicidal, no self-confidence, and a great lack of a sense of purpose and worth. Through intensive individual therapy, group therapy, recreation therapy, in-depth 12 Step assignments and application, CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy), a multitude of informative and illuminating lectures (medical, recreational, spiritual, relational), and a greatly supportive community of people all working on the same goal of sobriety and sanity, I have been able to begin my life anew. I am now 90 days sober for the first time in 30 years thanks to FRC (Florida Recovery Center)!!!! I would not be alive to write this review had they not believed in me and, likewise, I had not believed and trusted the process. YOU must surrender to the process, be vulnerable, and be willing to choose LIFE for yourself - a good life without dragging around the heavy burdens of guilt, shame, and regret.....BUT YOU have to be honest with yourself and them or it probably won't work. IT WORKS IF YOU WORK IT SO WORK IT YOU'RE WORTH IT!!!!

The Transition House is a great great program! All the counselors and all the behavioral techs care about every single person that walks through the door! Every group is informative and gives you the tools to exceed quality sobriety! This program is not for people who need it, but for people who want it! One of the greatest things I have learned in this program,is I had to change myself and my old behaviors (not just the ones I wanted)...but all of them! I have been here for 5months and I am truly not the same person that walked in the door on December 31! The administration, staff and clients have helped to make the man I am today! Do not let the negative reviews keep you from seeking help here. I admitted myself voluntarily, horrified that the reviews would be accurate, and instead left in a much better and safer place than before. I have heard absolutely horrible things about Meridian and hospitals in northern FL from countless people with years of experience in hospitals. If I felt I needed help again, I would absolutely travel the 2 hours to come here. The most helpful thing is actually participating in therapy. There are many groups a day, and most are optional, but they will urge you to attend. You will leave sooner if you attend, and you will genuinely only improve if you apply yourself without judgement to these groups. They were simple things like gratitude workshops and cognitive distortion worksheets, but they do help. Sometimes they brought in a dog or we painted watercolor pictures. Kind of strange, but you might have to verbally request individual therapy or you won't get it. It's worth it. Therapist Tre and group host Jessica were absolutely wonderful. Also, interacting with the people around you by sharing in group, chatting or by playing card games in the lobby is EXTREMELY HELPFUL. Do not undermine the power of human connection in this kind of facility. I made some good friends of all ages and backgrounds. It was good to hear other people's stories and oftentimes motivating. Psychiatric side gets periods of time where phone calls can be made. They're supposed to be quite short, but time was not strictly enforced unless someone else wanted the phone. Rehab side has to schedule phone calls within the hours. There are visitation hours daily. The food isn't 5-star quality, but has a large variety with a menu you choose from daily. 3 meals a day. Decent selections of decent quality for hospital food; for breakfast, you can get french toast sticks, tea, an orange, and oatmeal as one meal. Plenty of options for dietary restrictions, even a veggie burger. They will encourage you to eat. They also have high calorie shakes they can give you. You are allowed 3 pairs of clothes. Don't bring anything with strings like hoodies or sweatpants. If you have only one pair with you, they have paper scrubs for you to wear while they wash your laundry (overnight usually). You can bring a book or card game. You can ask for extra blankets, socks, toothpaste. They give you a journal + soft pens and markers. SO JOURNAL!! It helps. I did not like the psychiatrist or her nurses. They did not seem to care very much and ask arbitrary questions. They do decide when you get to leave, so be kind and be honest about your improvements. Do not ask to leave!!!!! It does not work and sometimes leads to a longer stay. Also, they will not let you leave in 3 days like the voluntary sheet says. They almost always keep you a week. That's not necessarily a bad thing... you usually need it. The first couple days will be uncomfortable, as they put you in a co-ed space and you will share a room + bathroom with another person— not necessarily of the same gender. It takes some getting used to. They will not put you in a room with anyone who is aggressive of incapable of taking care of themselves, those people typically have separate rooms and are monitored by staff 24/7. They technically won't force you into your room at night either in my experience, but they will have nurses come offer melatonin every 30 minutes. They love giving out melatonin. There are definitely some rude nurses, and we had a minor incident with a nurse that agitated an aggressive patient. If anything happens, they'll send everyone back to their rooms. I never felt unsafe. Majority of the nurses were very sweet, attentive, and helpful. They will answer questions. A few played cards with us. If I had to describe my stay, I would say boring. There is basically no entertainment. The days are long, starting early in the morning and ending late in the evening. There are some poor quality books, puzzles, and cards available. If you have a loved one here, maybe bring them an activity book.

This is one of the best mental facilities you can get help from. They will not let you leave untill you feel better, they medicated me, gave lessons on boundaries, anger management, we read poems, did music therapy, worksheets and games aswell as plant therapy and animal therapy. (got to take a plant home) there were fidget toys and puzzles and i never felt unsafe in the facility because of their guidelines/rules. Group was a wonderful time for me, being able to go outside into the sunlight in the facility was great, i met amazing people with very crazy stories in there, and overall it was a much needed experience to repair my mental health. There are books and a TV to entertain yourself with and they give you journals to encourage you to write. The food was very good, and you are allowed to make phone calls. You will see a doctor every morning. And they also give you soap, a toothbrush, lotion, deodorant and toothpaste. eric needs a raise guys please give him a raise, hes running around everywhere. aswell as jessica, brandon, valaria and suzanne. Ive had some mixed feelings about Clay Behavioral since my son started. The main office has some work to do regarding following up with parents, especially after hospitalization but there are a few amazing gems at the OP location that have made up for it. The clinician who did his intake, Brittany, was amazing and makes a great first impression when seeking mental health resources. She explained everything so thoroughly, asked a lot of thoughtful questions and truly cared about the answers. She made my son feel so comfortable! She advocated for him when I was having some issues getting appointments as well! She helped me get in contact with another great clinician Sherry, who was a care coordinator after his hospital stay. She was super informative and incredibly kind during a tough time. Follow up is so important in mental health, it can be devastating to feel forgotten especially to a teen. Brittany and Sherry made sure he felt like a priority and im so thankful for their help this last month!

He has always gone above and beyond for his patients and treated them with nothing but kindness and respect! My sister, my brother in law and myself have been seeing him for years and he isn’t just a doctor that throws a prescription at you, he genuinely cares about your life and how your doing in your recovery journey! If I had any issues with scheduling he’s fixed them immediately. Even when it was my own fault for working and having to reschedule last minute because I was called in last minute. takes a while to get in and go through everything to get set up, but they always attend to my needs when I have an episode in office. Wish I didn’t have to cry to get stuff sorted in an appropriate time, but I can’t deescalate when I get to that point unfortunately. All the love to the ladies working in office, very sweet and caring. The psychiatric doctors r quite lazy and don’t really care about their patients, but that’s kind of expected for a mental health clinic. Be nice and respectful to the front desk ladies, they will help you out if you are nice and respectful.

Most of that comes with the fact that people of different ages are together in the same room. This place helps people with guts get back on their feet, it’s their job to be a bit tough on you but they really aren’t. I will always be grateful to this place. Nurse Connie really went the extra mile to help me at a crucial point in my recovery. Mrs. Maxine was a fantastic 1 on 1 counselor and helped me achieve a spiritual awakening of the "educational variety" while working steps with a sponsor. Ms. Bobbie was a ray of sunshine and Mr. Randy was a wise mediator. Despite a rather unfortunate discharge it was overall a good experience. This place gives you a good opportunity. You got to be ready. And be mature, but if you reached that point and you seriously are ready I recommend this program. It's hard for someone who doesn't quite understand the addiction or just new to their addiction. It's a struggle but it's a great place for someone who is really ready

year ago, I walked out of the doors of Northeast Florida State Hospital, and my life has never been the same since. When I first arrived, I was in one of the darkest places I’ve ever been in my life. I didn’t see much hope, and I didn’t know if I would ever feel better. But during my time there, something changed. Little by little, through the patience, care, and dedication of the staff, I began to heal.The staff there were absolutely incredible. They weren’t just “doing their jobs they were friendly, fair, and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable, cared for, and respected. They created a warm and welcoming environment that felt safe, supportive, and encouraging. The events, the programs, and the way they connected with us made me feel at home, even though I knew it wasn’t my permanent home. They truly made it feel like a family, and that meant the world to me.Since leaving a year ago, my life has become better, stronger, and more powerful than ever before. The strength I found during my time at Northeast Florida State Hospital has carried me forward and helped me keep growing. I often think back to the staff, the experiences, and the kindness I was shown, and I can honestly say I miss them and everything they did to make us feel cared for.
