I was in great need of help for depression when I found 5 Palms in Ormond Beach, FL. I completed their 28-day program last month. During my voluntary stay, I gained knowledge of CBT and DBT and many skills for returning myself to a mentally balanced state of mind. With these skills, I am now able to stop my depression and related anxiety from "taking over" my thoughts and I have longer, more frequent periods of clear productive thought which have significantly improved my life. I was also very impressed with the professionalism of all levels of the staff and I felt safe and well cared for at a very sensitive time.

Promises Five Palms has truly changed my life, and I am so grateful to call myself both an alumni and an employee. This is the place that gave me hope when I most needed it, helping me reach two years sober—a milestone I once doubted I’d ever achieve. The therapists at Five Palms are outstanding, offering not just professional expertise but real compassion and encouragement every step of the way. The BHTs are just as amazing, always friendly and genuinely caring, making every day a little bit brighter and recovery feel just a bit easier. Working here is the greatest job I’ve ever had. The entire team is passionate about helping others, and being part of that mission has brought so much meaning to my life. I’ve learned skills here that I use every single day, not just at work but in all areas of my life. The environment feels safe, supportive, and even a little bit magical—I can’t say enough about how special this place is or how thankful I am for everything and everyone at Five Palms.

Promises 5 Palms was absolutely amazing! The people the community fabulous! Let me say I was very nervous to go to rehab a facility whatever you want to call it. Once I was there the positive energy ran through. I felt comfortable with all the staff as well as the other clients. They help you through anything that comes up. All you need to do is ask. I was so amazed with Promises! I would recommend to anyone that needs help with either mental health and or drug addiction recovery. Dom saved me more than once love him!Dom is AWESOME!! The nurse's were a huge help to me. Never talked or looked down on me, he was just a huge help! The food was great, the people were awesome. The people I have met there are wonderful I WILL have friendships 💓 forever. Promises ROCKS! WHAT A GREAT EXPERIENCE. My therapist Charles was fantastic 😊. The sense of community fabulous. The childrens home helped me allot when I needed a place to stay while I finished highschool in the 18+ program. My parents abandoned me when I was 17 and i dealt with allot of abuse and neglect previously. As such I had very bad anxiety and PTSD and I didn't know allot of basic skills and needed help. Their school was amazing and gave me allot of experiences I'd never give up however the adults facility offered me very little besides a roof over my head. The staff was terrible to me they constantly bullied me and installed a constant fear of becoming homeless by consistently threatening to kick me out over even the smallest of mistakes. One of the staff members hates me and she made it widely known she would consistently tell me to shut up said I talked to much even when I was talking to my friends within the house. Punished me any chance she got and did her best to get me kicked out. I became so fearful of the staff that I hid in my room then I was chastised for not being friendly enough and told I was rude for not saying hello to staff. When I made the smallest mistake I was taken into a tiny office with 3-4 staff members who would all yell at me and tell me how horrible I was for whatever reason. The boys in the house bullied me (even so much as telling me to kill myself publicly) and when I spoke up about it I was punished. Then when I moved out I was gone for a week and came back to get my stuff and they tried to charge me for not doing my chores in the house despite the fact that I had moved out. I give the childrens home 2 stars only because it was slightly better than being on the street

I dialed the Daytona Beach Detox Helpline on a whim and ended up surprised by how down-to-earth the person on the other end was. Instead of feeling like I was in some scripted call-queue, it felt like talking to someone who genuinely cared and knew how confusing all this can feel. They didn’t press me to “sign up” right away — just helped me map out what my next step could look like. If you’re in that “what do I actually do next?” place, this helpline was a calming first step.

A very good lawyer got me out of Volusia County Jail after 41 days of incarceration and with the help of my sister got me into Stewart. After an intense 28 day 12 step program I was released. During that time I learned many things that when applied, have helped me in life without drugs and alcohol. I took their suggestions and started going to meetings, got a sponsor and and didn't use for one day at a time. One of the most applicable things I learned in Stewart was to keep e/I. I still go to meetings and am greatful beyond words to their program. I've been clean from all drugs, one of them being alcohol, for over 39 years. If I can do it one day at a time, anyone can.

I can only speak from personal experience coming out of the psych unit but everyone from the nurses, emts, and doctors really made it seem like I was cared for. I’ve been to other hospitals but they always treated me like an inconvenience. Some if not most, seemed like they actually heard and understood me & ultimately wanted me to get the best help possible. Lana specifically was a very kind, wonderful person & I can’t thank her enough for the support and encouragement she showed me. Though sometimes I had to remind them to do things & maybe they got annoyed, I knew they ultimately had good intentions. As long as you’re not a jerk & being nice to them, they’ll treat you well.

I moved here from our of state so I had to start all over in finding a new Provider in psychiatry. SMA was able to keep me on the same medication because I've been on the same 3 meds for 9 years and they didn't try to change them by adding something or taking some away. I know what works best for me. They took care of everything I needed help with even outside the doctor's office. I was a student at TC Orlando for 1 year and 5 days. During one of my first weeks in the program a lady at the car wash was kind enough to ask how we were doing that day and encouraged us by saying "remember there's no perfect program" and she was right. There's plusses and minuses to every aspect in life. I am not here to discuss what I thought was wrong with or right about TCO. I will say that many of the negative things I read in other Google reviews have been rectified and are no longer relevant. My aim in writing this review is that you will enter TCO eyes wide open and not be upset or surprised at what you do/don't find and will encounter God, graduate and maintain sobriety afterwards. Let me tell you what Teen Challenge Orlando has to offer Professional Services- If you require doctors visits or dental work, TCO offers transportation to and from appointments. Mentors provide regular opportunities for students to open up and talk about personal struggles. Amenities Kitchen/Cafeteria- Top of the line as far as rehabs go. All the coffee you can drink during breakfast but don't over do it. Meals are protein heavy, diverse and have a good amount of vegetables, essential for the brain's recovery on a chemical level. Stear clear of the sodas and limit your dessert intake or you'll get what's known as the TC 30 in your first 30 days. If not more... Dorms- Always cold but just in the way that you want. Mattresses- Par for the course. However, bring a $10 foam topper and you'll sleep like a baby, guaranteed. Closets- Each student gets half plus ample shelving space. There is a shed outback for shoes so the rooms don't stink and floors stay clean, 5 pair limit. Bathrooms- They are super clean and you'll never run out of hot water; plenty of sinks and showers. Usually no wait time for your morning shave. Remeber to be a gentleman and clean up after yourself. Your Mrs. or future Mrs. will appreciate this later. Laundry- They will have a couple of designated students assigned to laundry duty and your clothes will be washed and folded on a weekly basis. Gym- Outdoor, covered weight area with elliptical, free weights, multi-use lift machine, mat for stretching and a HUGE tire to flip around campus and compete with others for bragging rights! A half court for basketball and sandpit volleyball area. Sorry, no in-ground pool. This is rehab, not a resort. Need something? TCO has a massive thrift store. If you're lacking anything outside toiletries and socks/underwear all you have to do is fill out a slip and an intern or mentor will have you hooked up and "drippin" in a day or so. Library- Several hundred books ranging from addiction recovery strories to deep subjects of the Bible and personal growth. I read over 60 books during my time spent at TCO. The best part was a series of biographies about Christian heros of the faith. I read all of them. My one take away was this- Not a single one lived a boring, unfulfilled life once they fully surrendered It over to God and chose to walk in faith and obedience. The same can and WILL happen for you if you make that choice. Work Detail Monday 12-5, Tue, Thur, Fri, 9-5; Wed 9-4:30, Sat. 8-5 Usually done a little early to make it back for dinner. "What?! This sounds like a labor camp, not a rehab!!!" Well all your needs are provided for and "regular" people work 40 hrs a week. Think of it as a 12 months of retraining for when you get back out into the real world. You get to build up your work ethic without the pitfalls of spending a paycheck on drugs or alcohol. Furthermore Teen Challenge has over 1400 locations in 125 countries. Not all are financially self supporting. So the efforts put in here ensures that others receive help elsewhere. If you look at it from this perspective your outlook will be a lot more positive. Please see attached photos for complete review. Note- Reading in order 3, 2, 5, 4, 1

i came here back in beginning of august, it was my very first time being bakeracted so i didn’t really know what to expect but i was a bit scared. i ended up really liking this hospital for my first time, i felt pretty safe. they don’t force you to do any activities if you don’t want to although it helps them check for progress for yourself. if you wanted to rest in or nap at any time you could as well, which is what i also liked about it. i just feel like anyone struggling with mental health, shouldn’t have to be forced to do stuff if they’re not feeling it, but slowly getting into it when they’re ready. this place overall was very good to me and i appreciate them for everything

Break the Cycle has truly been life-changing for me. Jamie Myers is not only an amazing therapist but also a compassionate mentor and teacher. She listens with her whole heart and creates a space where you feel completely seen and understood. Her wisdom, patience, and encouragement have helped me grow in ways I never thought possible. I’m beyond grateful for Jamie and the incredible support she provides — she genuinely cares and it shows in every session.
