Fort Oglethorpe, GA | Lookout Mountain Community Services (LMCS) provides drug and alcohol use treatment in an outpatient setting. The clinic is near Point Park, Cloudland Canyon, Fairy Trail Garden and other nature spots that can support holistic healing. LMCS accepts Medicare, Medicaid, TRIC | Treatments Programs Payment Options | New to the facility. Counselor Janet is great. Very professional and caring. NP karen brazzle seems to be a good nurse practitioner. Seemed to really want to help. For people like me who are seriously struggling with life, she seemed to care. And wants to help.
EDIT 8-14-24
I've been seeing Karen Brazzle for approx 3 years now. I have nothing but good things to say. I don't know how to explain her in a few words, so I'll do my best. Kind, caring, knowledge, passionate, and will take the time needed. Im not the type to visit a place like this, much less stay. But I'm over 3 years. The staff is nice and hospitable, as much as they can be. Scheduling has never been an issue. I use the in house pharmacy Genoa. I've decided to come off most, but they were always ready for pick up and we're offered to be shipped. I can't promise you'll get assigned Karen, and I have t encountered any other practicioners. They do exclusively telehealth, so if that's a problem for you. I believe their counseling is done in house, and can't comment on those staff. If you're struggling and need help, the low rating that is shown hasn't at all been my experience. Hope this finds you well.

Visits went well. Good clean office and outside areas clean Bathrooms clean. Friendly staff. The only thing that keeps me from giving a 5 star is telehealth. There is nothing like having a human actually talking to you instead of a computer screen. My little one has downs syndrome and can not understand why we have to talk to a tv. 3-2023 Visits are going better, getting used to her Dr. not being in person. Opening up more. Starting to talk to her more and answer more questions instead of me having to do all the talking.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Iris Wellness. From first contact after hours on a weekend, to accepting my son for treatment even before we had payment worked out, to working with my insurance to get everything covered in-network when they were technically out of network to the fantastic intensive outpatient services. I have seen a dramatic difference in my son from, mood, attitude and overall life goals. He has always enjoyed going and has never once complained. I can't thank them enough for everything that they have done and how they have changed our lives (my son's, mine and our family as a whole). I would recommended Iris to anyone with a struggling teen.

Reaching out to Hixson Detox was one of the best decisions I made when everything felt like too much. The person on the line wasn’t pushy or cold—they just listened, talked to me like a real person, and helped me figure out my next step. They broke down the detox options in a way that made sense, without overwhelming me.What really stood out was how calm and steady they were through the whole thing. No pressure, no judgment—just honest support from someone who clearly knew what they were doing. If you’re lost and don’t know where to start, this helpline is a safe, solid place to begin.

Today I'm celebrating another year clean, which I know would not be possible without the help I received from CADAS through The Scholze Center. On January 20, 2011, I found my rock bottom. 13 days later, I entered the The Scholze Center and the course of my life was forever altered. I will always consider this facility the place where a seed was planted in me. It's where I developed the desire to try something different.
Take the drugs away, and I was still stuck with me. I was manipulative, pessimistic, co-dependant, amongst several other traits that made me difficult to deal with. And for the first time, I found adults who saw me for what I was, and treated me with dignity and respect regardless, while I sorted through the mess I had made of my life. I was greeted every morning and told goodnight every evening by adults who actually wanted to see us succeed, having been through similar struggles themselves.
The Scholze Center was where I learned what it felt like to laugh again after years of trying to feel nothing at all. It's where I fell in love with sports again. It's where I confided in other girls for the first time on things I swore I would never tell another soul, just to find they held onto the same secrets.
The Scholze Center is what you make of it. Just like anything in life, if you look for the negative, you'll find it. But for anyone searching through reviews as a parent or potential client, if you want a better life, The Scholze Center can help you start that journey.
In 2014, I came back to The Scholze Center assisting with H&I (Hospitals and Institutions) bringing meetings to the facility. I returned again in 2021 and served as a technician. I've always found my way back to The Scholze Center because I believe in all the potential it has to offer. I was fortunate enough to be employed at the time Melanie Berg stepped into the role as program director. I have no doubt, the center is continuing to thrive in her hands.
CADAS, thank you for continuing to invest in our youth. I wouldn't be here today without having experienced your program that planted the seed in me of a radical belief system that maybe I was still worth investing in and that maybe there was a bigger purpose for my life than what I had been settling for.

Hixson Detox felt more like a healing home than a facility. Everything about it — from the calm space to the way the staff talked to you — made it easier to breathe again. They took the time to know me, not just my story, and that made all the difference. It was quiet, supportive, and honestly kind of cozy. I didn’t feel like I was in trouble there — I felt like I was getting back to myself. The help didn’t come with judgment — just care, patience, and a real plan to move forward. That place gave me peace when I needed it most.

The staff works really hard to help the boys develop better coping skills so that they can be successful in life. The program also helps parents by providing tools for parenting children that are atypical. I can say that our son’s counselor Kevin truly made a difference in all of our lives. Our son would agree too. The weekly parent support group was helpful in that parents can connect and realize that you’re not alone. I am writing this review as a concerned family member of a resident currently at Dismas Charities Atlanta West. While I understand that transitional housing and rehabilitation programs come with rules and structure, the way this facility operates raises serious concerns about whether it is truly serving its purpose of rehabilitation and reintegration.
Upon arrival, residents are told they must wait up to ten business days before they are allowed to meet with their counselor. During this waiting period, they are unable to schedule job interviews, obtain a government ID, or access other essential documents needed to secure employment. This delay directly undermines the goal of helping residents transition successfully back into society. It is especially disheartening because many individuals leave incarceration eager to work and rebuild their lives — some even have job opportunities waiting for them — yet the system in place here prevents them from moving forward.
Another major issue is the lack of consideration for residents’ long-term living situations. If a resident’s permanent home is, for example, in Roswell, GA, it makes little sense to require them to find employment near the halfway house instead of near their future residence. This short-term approach sets them up for transportation struggles and instability once they leave the program.
Additionally, there appears to be no structured programming, classes, or workshops available to residents. There are no educational or skill-building opportunities, no mental health activities, and no community engagement efforts. Rehabilitation is not just about confinement — it should be about growth, structure, and preparation for reentry. Allowing residents to sit idle every day without constructive activities is not rehabilitation; it’s stagnation.
Even more concerning, I have repeatedly heard staff members make inappropriate jokes or threats related to residents’ freedom — such as telling them they’ll be “written up” or “sent back to jail” over chores or minor issues. Freedom is not a joke, and those words are deeply harmful, especially for individuals who already struggle with trauma or mental health conditions such as PTSD. These comments are not motivational — they are demeaning and triggering, and they go against the very idea of providing a supportive, rehabilitative environment.
This facility could have so much potential to truly change lives if leadership would invest in better programming, quicker case management access, trauma-informed staff training, and a more individualized approach that takes into account where residents will actually live and work after release. These changes would not only improve outcomes for the individuals but would also reflect positively on the mission of Dismas Charities as a whole.
People deserve a fair chance at rebuilding their lives. Unfortunately, the current system at Dismas Charities Atlanta West makes that much harder than it needs to be. I sincerely hope this feedback reaches someone in a position to make changes — because the residents there, and their families, deserve better.

I volunteered to go there on my own. I was feeling upset and depressed. I was told it would help. They're getting a 2 because the staff is very nice. They are all very helpful and sweet. The facility itself needs to be cleaned. It created more anxiety for me than I had. The floors were sticky. There was NO antibacterial soap. I constantly used germx whenever I saw some. I never saw anybody wiping tables (or anything else) whether it be with a rag or an antibacterial wipe. For those that went there for high levels of anxiety, good luck to them. It took 3 days for someone to call about meds and that appointment is a month away. We still haven't found a therapist in the system that accepts Medicare. This has added to the stress.

I want people to understand something important about the program. When you complete it and leave, the medications they use as “crutches” (like SSRIs) are not designed to be permanent solutions — but they don’t really prepare you for what happens when you try to come off them.
In my case, when I finished the program, I was left with nothing but “good luck.” No tapering support, no real plan, no follow-up guidance. The withdrawal from SSRI medication was a horrific experience, and I had to seek out a separate doctor on my own afterward just to cope.
People should know going in: the program does provide structure and tools while you’re there, but the aftercare is lacking, especially around medication dependence. Be ready to advocate for yourself and find outside medical support when you leave.

The extension changed my life. It was the best decision that I ever made. I've been clean over 2 and 1/2 years and have my life fully functioning and successful.

I have had clients go through the Extension and I have volunteered serving meals there. I read the post about it being racially biased but I have never witnessed anything or heard any other complaint like that. I would not hesitate to have one of my minority clients go through their program. It is all about and all for the residents to build a better life.

Woodstock, GA | Brand New Start is now part of the Comprehensive Treatment Center network. They offer outpatient treatment for those who’re struggling with opioid use. They help adults of all genders by using medication assisted treatment. They’re located in Woodstock, Georgia. Medication assisted treatment combines prescription medication with counseling. Thi | Treatments Programs Payment Options | This is a clean clinic and has many great qualities that can very much help your road to sobriety! However, the main issue here is the CONSTANT councilor change! As soon as one gets comfortable with their counselor, they leave. It is such piece of mind to build a relationship with your councilor and the nurses, just so you can have that report and someone that knows you and can be in your corner if ever needed. There are alot of patients that are not there for the right reasons, then there are also alot of patients that ARE there for the right reasons. The constant change certainly does not give one peace of mind. Familiar faces change places. I can not help but think its the higher ups not doing what is necessary to keep them happy in their workplace. Its sad really! Seeing consistency is very important, especially for addicts working on their road to recovery!
Otherwise I do believe this is a good place that has alot to offer addiction recovery for the ones who truly want it!

If the Recovery services that are offered by this center are needed, I can't think of a better place to go! Woodstock treatment center has professional Counselors that are non-judgemental, kind and empathetic, (shout out to Lindsay!) developing a plan of care tailored to the individual's needs so recovery though painful is attainable. As a bonus it is affordable even if you do not have insurance. The only negative is lack of parking.
