SunCloud is a great resource for adolescents and adults struggling with mental health issues, with particular expertise in treating multiple diagnoses. SunCloud provides personalized and individualized care, treating the whole person, not just a part of them. They have a highly trained and experienced medical team lead by one of the country's leading doctors, Kim Dennis. I have had personal experience with their Community Liaison, Donna Bartlett, through my work with middle and high schools. I entered The Gateway Foundation on October 31st 1996, my life had become unmanageable up until that point due to my addiction to cocaine. Thanks to Tyrone Anderson, who was an addiction counselor there at that time, and my mother, my life took a dramatic turn. Upon entering the facility my first 10 minutes after walking through the door they took a picture of me right there at the front door,I later learned why one year later. They admitted me right in the middle of a big Halloween party they were having that night ,my first thought was,.well alright.! this place is going to work out just fine.! walked right into a party right off the street. But oh boy, what a change of mind I had the next few days. I thought I had seen all the tricks in the book after completing basic training in the military,.USAF at that ! but my experiences at Gateway Foundation for one whole year,.OMG ! I hadn't seen nothing. I thought that I had done every kind of menial chores from mopping ,and cleaning ,scrubbing ,you name it ,while going through basic training in the military,.ha ! And my drill sergeant would shudder if he had to endure what we called at Gateway during that time a 'smoking". Basically it's when you mess up or violate a rule, you are commanded to go down in the basement, right below the meeting hall, where everybody can hear you get your feelings blowed out your mind, and heart by your fellow classmates in one of the loudest, meanest super aggressive verbal reprimands you have ever had in your life,.but it does get your attention though,.LOL. I'm saying all this to say that as addicts, we sometimes endure much worse treatment on the mean streets and environments of drug and alcohol addiction, but we are not discouraged by not so friendly people out there to still acquire our drugs of choice. Thanks to the environment of peer assisted treatment I received at Gateway, it helped me face the reality of life on the streets as an addict. I'm not saying that everything worked out perfect after leaving Gateway, we all struggle through the up's and downs of recovery, it's knowing how to get back on the right track, how to stay on the right track,, where and how to seek help when we fall that's important to continuing your life of sobriety. Thanks to the educational and therapeutical experiences I received from Gateway, I can proudly say that I am a happy, successful and drug free person to this very day.and I look nothing like that admission picture from 28 years ago.I encourage all who read this ,if you or someone you know is struggling with substance abuse issues, consider getting the help you need from The Gateway Foundation, I'm thankful my family did it for me. Sincerely C.J.Robson Jr.

The outpatient program at Rosecrance has been invaluable to my recovery. Dominique demonstrates an authentic commitment to helping me, and others in the group, maintain our sobriety. Whether it is through therapeutic programming, providing resources to enable our recovery, or just simply by helping navigate confusing financial aid forms, she is all in and wants to see her clients succeed. When Steve has had to fill in, on days Dominique was not here, he did the same. They both really just seem to care but also hold you accountable if you are not helping yourself. The culture of this program has allowed me the opportunity to really get to know other clients in this programs as well. The friendships I have developed here will stay in my heart forever.

My experience with this hospital has been amazing. Every time I came in for an appointment, I have been seen very quickly, within 10 minutes at most. All of the staff are nice and professional, from receptionists to doctors. Whenever I needed some specialty care (knee surgery, GI, cyst removal), the process to be scheduled for the consultation -> examination -> procedure -> post-op has always been reasonably fast or better. The cons are a fairly slow pharmacy (usually) and it has been difficult to reach people by phone (once or twice). But besides those two, I've always wished civilian hospitals operated the way James A. Lovell does.

I did wait 7hrs in ER waiting room before being seen by Dr, but it is the nature of the ER and I was much more stable than others even though I was in pain. There was a lot staff, every was extremely nice. Everyone was also extremely calm and I didn’t feel a sense of urgency which kinda worried me. After getting into a room I was processed very quickly, seen by Dr, blood draw, CT scan and results in 2hrs. Everyone was exceptionally nice the whole time. I wish things were moving a little faster but what can we do! I will suggest though, when in the waiting area, people should be told they can ask for pain meds because the staff won’t volunteer it.

yes, in the emergency room you can wait from 4 to 6 or even more hours, no matter what condition you are in. But the stay in the hospital was positive. My husband was about a week in room 3056, during all this time all the nurses were very attentive and caring. Thanks to them. They answered all my questions and provided us with everything we needed.I would like to especially note the financial department, everything was fast, clear and they helped me with everything I needed without a headache.Thx. guys.

I went into Glenbrook Hospital through the emergency room due to excruciating pain in my lower abdomen. I hadn’t been to the hospital ER in some years. First I went to immediate care and the physician there suggested that I get to an ER quickly because he felt my situation was serious. Upon arrival, I was taken immediately to triage and was evaluated by a nurse and a Physician’s Assistant. They could tell that I was really sick. I had a seat back in the waiting room and waited approximately three hours. Yes it was a long wait but they had drawn blood and taken a urine sample so I figured it would take awhile to get the lab results. When I was finally taken to an ER Bay, the nurse that took care of me was amazing as well as the physician and the Physician’s assistant. The CT scan showed that I had a diverticula that had burst and perforated my colon thus causing peritonitis. They told me that had I waited a day or two longer that I would have died. Then they called in a surgical team. The surgical team explained everything and I was admitted. I didn’t get into a hospital room until 10:00 pm but I was thankful to be alive and that I was in good care. The nursing staff was incredible as well as the surgical staff and house physician. As luck would have it, they were able to successfully treat my condition with round the clock IV antibiotics and pain meds. I am very lucky to be alive and the staff at Glenbrook saved my life. Yes, I was frustrated and in horrific pain and it was a long wait in the ER. However, in the scope of things what is a three hour wait as compared to saving my life and hopefully will have many years left? I owe my life to them so I was willing to overlook a bandaid on the floor, a broken cabinet door and a wrapper on the floor. They were more concerned with saving my life than the small stuff. I realize that when people are in pain we can get very cross and grumpy. At one point when they told me what was wrong I began to cry and The nurse and The PA held my hand and comforted me. I can’t ever begin to thank them enough. The nursing staff on the unit were equally as nice and worked very hard. I realized that the hospital was a bit short staffed and when I felt impatient when a call light wasn’t answered right away or a beeping sound on the IV pump wasn’t tended to as quickly as I wanted, I reminded myself that there were others more sick than me and that I was lucky to be alive. That put the small annoyances in perspective. Mel Doerr

The good: The post op nurses, as well as OR nurse Chris, were amazingly kind and patient. Surgeon was wonderful as well. Their main concern was for my comfort, and they showed an amazing amount of compassion towards me. Everything was clean, and the procedure went well. Even got taken back early! The bad: The hospital told me to be there at 9 am for a 10:30 procedure. I get there at 9, and...they told me I was an hour early and my arrival time was 10 am. I had not received a call confirming a 10 am arrival time. The last call I received from the pre-op staff said I needed to be at the hospital at 9 am. Was extremely frustrated by this lack of communication and lack of organization! Also- IV nurse seemed extremely inexperienced. I was told an ultrasound machine would be used to find a vein...that never happened, and I had to be stuck two times.

The physician who saw me today for a routine check up went above and beyond. Dr. Doss was unhappy to hear that a previous prescription I had was unaffordable for me, so she took extra time to find an alternative but equally effective prescription option. She also was very attentive in asking about my family history and took extra care after learning that I was adopted to make sure she had an understanding that I was aware of paying attention to any possible inherent conditions and gave me not negative responses, but positive encouragement to stay on top of my health. Social distancing was in full swing at the Deerfield office, and the desk attendants were very diligent in directing patients as such.

I love how I get an opportunity to share with others what is going on with me and I love the feedback I receive from the ones that choose to reply. I also get to listen and hear about what other people are going through and I enjoy being able to share some of my experience strength and hope with the newcomer or the still suffering addict. This is a platform where you can find all the help you need and not just in recovery but in your everyday life. There is ton of information on here for me to explore as well as events I can attend if I choose to. I consider this platform another form of treatment the only difference is you aren t obligated to do anything you don t want to do. I love being able to connect with people on here whether I know them or not. We each get a chance to help one another and that s the beauty of Gateway connect plus u can attend zoom meetings which is conducted by recovery coaches and other Gateway staff.
