SunCloud is a great resource for adolescents and adults struggling with mental health issues, with particular expertise in treating multiple diagnoses. SunCloud provides personalized and individualized care, treating the whole person, not just a part of them. They have a highly trained and experienced medical team lead by one of the country's leading doctors, Kim Dennis. I have had personal experience with their Community Liaison, Donna Bartlett, through my work with middle and high schools. Donna is wealth of information and an amazing support system for community partners.

All of the staff are super friendly and their goal is to help you be successful. The PA listens to you carefully and he will suggest and prescribe medication to aid you to reach your goals. The counselor will work with you to set up a plan for your recovery and listens intently to you to help you reach the goals you have set. She has helped me in numerous ways to overcome anxiety issues that were blocking my path. I believe the whole staff have truly saved my life.

I entered The Gateway Foundation on October 31st 1996, my life had become unmanageable up until that point due to my addiction to cocaine. Thanks to Tyrone Anderson, who was an addiction counselor there at that time, and my mother, my life took a dramatic turn. Upon entering the facility my first 10 minutes after walking through the door they took a picture of me right there at the front door,I later learned why one year later. They admitted me right in the middle of a big Halloween party they were having that night ,my first thought was,.well alright.! this place is going to work out just fine.! walked right into a party right off the street. But oh boy, what a change of mind I had the next few days. I thought I had seen all the tricks in the book after completing basic training in the military,.USAF at that ! but my experiences at Gateway Foundation for one whole year,.OMG ! I hadn't seen nothing. I thought that I had done every kind of menial chores from mopping ,and cleaning ,scrubbing ,you name it ,while going through basic training in the military,.ha ! And my drill sergeant would shudder if he had to endure what we called at Gateway during that time a 'smoking". Basically it's when you mess up or violate a rule, you are commanded to go down in the basement, right below the meeting hall, where everybody can hear you get your feelings blowed out your mind, and heart by your fellow classmates in one of the loudest, meanest super aggressive verbal reprimands you have ever had in your life,.but it does get your attention though,.LOL. I'm saying all this to say that as addicts, we sometimes endure much worse treatment on the mean streets and environments of drug and alcohol addiction, but we are not discouraged by not so friendly people out there to still acquire our drugs of choice. Thanks to the environment of peer assisted treatment I received at Gateway, it helped me face the reality of life on the streets as an addict. I'm not saying that everything worked out perfect after leaving Gateway, we all struggle through the up's and downs of recovery, it's knowing how to get back on the right track, how to stay on the right track,, where and how to seek help when we fall that's important to continuing your life of sobriety. Thanks to the educational and therapeutical experiences I received from Gateway, I can proudly say that I am a happy, successful and drug free person to this very day.and I look nothing like that admission picture from 28 years ago.I encourage all who read this ,if you or someone you know is struggling with substance abuse issues, consider getting the help you need from The Gateway Foundation, I'm thankful my family did it for me. This place was really nice and accepting of me. I think out of every place I have been they helped me the most.

I arrived at Compass after dealing with anxiety and depression for years. I ve also been part of the therapy offered by the psych community and believe in self growth, discovery, and moving forward. Having said this, I had some areas in myLife especially post divorce, that were keeping me from thriving.And I ve tried many things including reading books, talking with loved ones and of course, therapy. Still, I needed more. I knew this within my mind.I believe the anxiety and depression track at Compass helped me to define my values which were hidden beneath my anxiety and years of maladaptive behaviors. Those behaviors are ingrained. And we all have things that hold us back.With the group setting I had the chance to hear of others struggles and that helped to normalize my own challenges and help me to truly understand, I m not alone.I also had once or twice weekly sessions with a primary therapist and a family therapist which helped me define some boundaries post divorce that I was being to casual about.Additionally, I made huge strides in understanding myself better and aligning my goals with who I am and it continues to help me have a guide for daily living. That guide for me includes the self care we all to often put aside in the name of responsibility and roles that we are in, and I ve been so so guilty of this. And some other things I won t define here.This experience has been great for me and I put in work and effort to get results.For anyone ready to make some serious change within themselves and around their views, this is a great place to learn more about yourself. The rest is up to you though.

The good: The post op nurses, as well as OR nurse Chris, were amazingly kind and patient. Surgeon was wonderful as well. Their main concern was for my comfort, and they showed an amazing amount of compassion towards me. Everything was clean, and the procedure went well. Even got taken back early!The bad: The hospital told me to be there at 9 am for a 10:30 procedure. I get there at 9, and...they told me I was an hour early and my arrival time was 10 am. I had not received a call confirming a 10 am arrival time. The last call I received from the pre-op staff said I needed to be at the hospital at 9 am. Was extremely frustrated by this lack of communication and lack of organization! Also- IV nurse seemed extremely inexperienced. I was told an ultrasound machine would be used to find a vein...that never happened, and I had to be stuck two times.

Highland Park Hospital

Two surgeries in the past two years. Both performed perfectly, and my recoveries were excellent . Staff were very attentive, informative and kind. Doctor was terrific, had an excellent demeanor and was very patient, providing clear status reports and guidance. I'd definitely go here again (if ever needed).
