I recently got discharged from a 4-day stay here. From the minute I was admitted I was told what was going on and questions were most certainly welcomed. I got a tour of the unit and my bedroom and was introduced to my roommate right away. I have a gluten and lactose intolerance, and the staff sat down and asked what I would like to eat and accommodated my needs. The food is great and there's plenty of options. Anytime you need something you can walk over to the nurse's station and they'll be able to help you. My nurses and the techs and the doctor were exceptional! I especially want to thank Katey, the group organizer. She and I painted and sat and talked and she said she really wanted to be a part of my healing journey and found material for our groups to help me out. I enjoyed the relaxed schedule where groups are in the morning and early afternoon and if they don't fit your needs you don't have to attend. I was able to take naps when I was tired or feeling unwell, and one night they let me sleep on the couch because I felt more comfortable doing so. I was also able to take showers at my request and recieve fresh scrubs, socks, and undergarments daily. You can also take in a phone call list and call your friends and family any time you'd like. I can't express how good this place is, and how amazing it is that I got in when they only have 7 beds at the moment. I had a client of my nonprofit, LITE, who needed access to a safe place overnight until we could find him a residential recovery program. He'd completed a detox program but we hadn't secured a "bed" for him at this next stop. Jill was welcoming and helpful and we were able to provide our client a comforting, safe space. He is now working through his recovery at the next stop thanks to this facility!

I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to this rehab center and its staff. No, it’s not a luxury retreat or a spa-like setting—but neither is prison, or worse, the morgue. This place is about recovery, not comfort, and I believe they are doing exactly what they’re meant to do: helping people get their lives back.
The staff was kind, dedicated, and truly cared. My son's father recently completed treatment here, and while he shared that it was incredibly tough—physically, emotionally, and mentally—he also said it was nothing compared to the pain of being out on the streets, lost in his addiction. Recovery isn’t supposed to be easy. If it were, addiction wouldn’t be so hard to beat.
I’ve seen some reviews criticizing the center for not giving constant updates to family members. I get it—when someone we love is in pain, we want answers, we want involvement, we want to help. But part of the healing process means letting go of that need to control. We didn't have control when our loved ones were in active addiction, and recovery is no different. The program is designed to build independence, accountability, and internal strength. Constant calls, questions, and attempts to interfere, even with good intentions, can undermine that.
Trust the process. Let the professionals do their job. It’s not always comfortable—but neither is addiction. Discomfort is part of growth, and growth is what this place is all about.
If you're looking for somewhere that offers real recovery—not coddling, but healing—this is it. Let them work, and give your loved one the space to fight for their own life.

Sacred Heart started me on my recovery journey giving me the tools I needed to get sober and stay sober. I hit my 90 days sober in about 2 weeks, and I couldn’t be more happy or proud. I’m so, so, so grateful for what Sacred Heart did for me. Shout out to staff Leslie, Trish, Jessica, Tom, Johnny, Margaret, Joe and Tom#2, Elizabeth, nurses Jane and Jim.. the therapists are amazing (all of them except Maria, she’s awful) the peer recovery coaches are amazing, love the nursing staff, y’all took good care of us. I love you all and maybe I’ll come back one day to help my fellow addicts. Anyone thinking of getting sober and trying to find a good rehab, this is the one, you won’t regret it!!

I spent 3 months at ICFR South Bend. It was the 4th facility I had been at since August 2025. I can honestly say this place was a great experience for me. I came to know the staff and truly believed they had my best interest at heart. Sometimes there were communication issues but for the most part it was a nurturing, supportive environment. There were a few staff members who made my stay special. Facilitators Stephanie, Dr. Steph and Heather as well as Client Care Coordinator Constance were extremely helpful. They were a great resource and a wealth of information. I don't think my experience would have been as positive without them.

Many people give this place negative reviews but that's only because they're struggling with their own personal mental problems. I have been here twice and both times I was treated with love and compassion many of the nurses there are very kind and caring and I even made friends amongst the other patients. Please don't let your own personal struggles allow you to judge this place too harshly. I don't know where I would be without PBH.

Dwight is a really good counselor. he saved my life, he makes you understand what you’re going through a lot better. he helps you and understands you. The nurses were great and the techs were okay too. The food was horrible and the rooms were horrible the blankets and pillows too. The group counseling was great and the groups were a good way too talk too someone. The bad part was the patients there was this one patient that was just horrible he would touch himself in front of us at group counseling and no one would say anything.

My experience at the Huntington Bowen center has been great. The staff is helpful and always willing to accommodate me. My son and I both go here.
I'd like to mention the wonderful caregivers who have bettered our lives. Firstly, Erin Hollowell is amazing with children. She's worked with my son and we've had family sessions that have resolved issues that seemed hopeless. She offers realistic advice and provides a plan that can help future issues. I appreciate how well she is able to articulate both side's perspectives and offer valuable feedback without undermining either of us.
Fay Montague is a wonderful doctor who diligently worked to come up with a plan to help our family. It took months to see an improvement but she was persistent and showed our family so much compassion during one of the hardest times of our lives. I went from feeling endless frustration and wanting to give up to feeling hope for the first time in months and finally the results that we prayed for.
Aaron Crump is an amazing therapist. He is so insightful and smart. He is able to reframe my situations in such a way that my perception shifts. Instead of offering pointless validation he challenges me by asking questions that lead me to a better understanding. I dont know why the rating is the way it is, I come here for mental health therapy and I think so far that my therapist is great and I am a very hard man to get along with because of my physical and mental health trauma in my past. My therapist, Brandy, is excellent and listens, and is also very real. I have been with Bowen for many years through Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, and now Huntington. I currently live in Indianapolis and travel over two hours one way to come to therapy, this is how good Bowen is in my eyes.

The most recent reviews are from years ago so I'd like to talk about the changes that have happened over the years compared to the past reviews.
I've been going here for the last four years now. I've had to change therapists once (with enough warning) and I've had to change case managers twice (also with given warnings) every issue I've ever had had been resolved quickly and efficiently (I am so sorry for getting upset about my meds that one time, omg I still feel guilty)
I've felt very safe with my therapists and they've been a great help in my mental journey

I’m here at avenues in Fort Wayne Indiana on day 17 and I’m feeling 1000% better. My outlook is good. The staff here are wonderful people very understanding very helpful. The food is great and they feed you time plenty I could be a witness because I put on 20 pounds in the 17 days. I just love this place. I’m glad I came here.

So I just want to start off by stating that this facility changed my life drastically and saved my butt! Quite literally. I came to FCRC a scared, shaking, & shy woman. I was a kid on the inside.
Mr. Jeff & Savannah saved me from myself AT LEAST 3 times from trying to walk out on my recovery because of issues on the outside (life continues even though we go to treatment, ya know). When I tell you I have never met a team of such caring loving & HONEST staff? I hadn’t until I walked into this facility. I graduated yesterday, with 44 days today under my belt. I had hopped on a plane from Houston TX not knowing anything but my Higher Power did. I am so beyond grateful to First City and their peeps. All the way from the Detox experience to my PHP part of my program, everyone was helpful and so kind. And that level of care? Hard to find. Aye, shout out to Bobby in PHP & IOP, that’s my boy!!! Having used their facilities for our Union members and for a family member, the counselors are caring, responsive, and communicate very well on a treatment plan and objectives & goals. Ms Tori awesome!!!!! The group meetings and accountability for each other in treatment works in a great atmosphere. I would strongly recommend this facility if a friend, co-worker, and family members are in need of help with addictions and/or mental health. It is located in chesterton nearby for visitation purposes.
