Couldn't ask for a better group of people all around. I was genuinely accepted and treated with dignity by both residents and staff. 28 days flew by and I was reminded of how \|enjoyable life can still be even if you are sober. They let us smoke cigarettes on the patio outside and the food was outstanding and many times restaurant quality. I'll always have fond memories of this place. I can only hope that those that I met there are winning their battle with addiction or at the very least not giving up. They were all good souls that deserve happiness just as much as anyone else. Casco Bay saved my life literally! I was at my lowest of lows when I called for info. It was the scariest calls I have ever made. The staff was so welcoming and understanding of my situation. I can but I would be writing for days. Someone that I consider family needed my help. The day started with me driving from Boston to NH, when I found him we went to Portland Maine. I called detox after detox and all were packed. However, I was given wrong information when they said take him to Maine Health. We went there first and waited over an hour only to be told they would not give him a bed until one of the detoxes opened. This was very disappointing. However, with the grace of God, I found Saint Mary’s in Lewiston Maine. So we drove another hour there and finally succeeded. The security, nurse and Doctor we talked to were phenomenal. It ended with an emotional hug and hope of recovery now linger. Before I left, the guy at the desk even stopped me and handed me a piece of paper with the number to this department on it. We flew my daughter from out of state for treatment as the state we live in doesn’t have the type of mental health care with coocurring substance abuse treatment (even though the facilities state they do). Canterbury so far has been the first facility to finally give my daughter the type of individualized care she needed. My daughter’s Case Worker Jen has been a Godsend. Jen became aware that my daughter was returning to New Hampshire for treatment and quickly took her under her guardian angel wings. Jen makes herself available to provide us as the parents reassurance with her knowledge at any time of the day, which is a blessing since we are not in the area to quickly come check on my daughter. I plan to come back and give an update on my review as treatment continues. So far, I highly recommend Canterbury for your family’s treatment!
